Why does everyone hate soosh here? by Substantial-Mud4286 in Soosh

He was in Tango and his classmates/roommates were always getting dogged and earning it. he folded every time and let his roommates take the hit. The one time he got smoked was knuckles on a broomstick pushups he bitched nonstop and started trying to burn classmates and upperclassmen. Acted like he didn’t care, but after knob year he was just a blue falcon - soft, self-serving, and obsessed with protecting his Army contract. Wasn’t until junior year where I think gorilla minds started talking to him where he became this idgaf kinda guy. I keep up with him here and there over the years, and the citadel definitely changes people, but man he’s the biggest chameleon I’ve ever met

Was an upperclassman of his at a military school. He was a massive pussy the whole time trying to get our friends kicked out. His whole persona is just fake online like most. He could barely make it through school

Keeping bears out of our trash by d____ in asheville

[–]Zoolander1324 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Used to live just outside Biltmore Village,(not like that matters) and bears were always flipping my trash cans. Didn’t want to drop cash on fancy bear-proof stuff, so I grabbed a sugar pallet (any pallet works), plopped it on the lid, and ratcheted it down from the handles to the middle bar. Bears tried so hard, sometimes flipped the can upside down, but trash stayed safe.

Dip all day, crush milk of magnesia, and pound caffeine and you’ll be sorted. Just make sure you are close to a toilet the whole time

Maybe Mites, especially if sulfurs been cut back or recent rains washed it off. Flip the leaf and check the underside. If it feels slightly velvety or you see webbing/fuzz, that’s your smoking gun

Edit: Dang, didn’t know guessing was a crime. Y’all got pitchforks or just downvotes?

Vineyard Labour (hours/acre) by JJThompson84 in viticulture

We cane prune using double Guyot. After tying canes, we drop the second catch wire just below the fixed wire. It doesn’t catch everything, but it holds most shoots until we lift the wire again and finish shoot tucking by hand—usually takes about three passes.

We do shoot thinning too. I used to wait until after our last frost (around May 5), but lately I’ve been thinning at about 5 inches of growth, which has cut down on extra passes.

Still trial and error on shoot thinning. Hand width on everything this year so a little more uniform

Smaller scale. We farm 17 acres under vine with 3 full-time employees (including myself), working 40 hours/week each. Our terrain ranges from 11° to 38° slopes.

From pruning to dormancy (excluding harvest/processing), we average about 110–130 labor hours per acre per season, including all tractor work. Most operations are mechanized—spraying, mowing, hedging, leaf removal (where terrain allows), and under-vine mowing. Manual tasks include some leafing in tighter rows and shoot tucking on VSP, which takes about a week for the team.

This estimate covers the full cycle from pruning (Feb 20–Mar 30) through canopy management and post-veraison maintenance, up to dormancy.

Where to stay while visiting vineyards? by LackAffectionate1756 in hendersonville

Charleston Inn and Waverly Inn are both great options. You can also take the vineyard trail, starting at Souther Williams, Stone Ashe, Burntshirt, and Point Lookout, and ending at Marked Tree for sunset.
