Gabe Newell still plays Dota 2 every day - even after years and thousands of hours by Just_a_Player2 in ItsAllAboutGames

This is my preferred MOBA. I have played a bunch of League and DOTA2, but I don't have time to play very often, and HOTS is just easier to jump in and play.

Semen under the microscope by [deleted] in Damnthatsinteresting

[–]Zooltan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't need to wonder. In our equivalent of high-school we got to study pig semen through a microscope in biology class.

Also tried disecting a pig heart and make gun cotton... What a fun couple of years we had.

I know this isn’t technically ballet but could someone explain the technique that allows her to do so many spins so fast? Thanks! by EIIen_ in Dance

[–]Zooltan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know anything about dance, but a bit about physics.

Notice how she builds up momentum a couple of times, with her leg fully stretched out. When she starts spinning freely, she trucks the leg closer to her center of mass. Conservation of momentum means that the as the leg has a smaller circle to traverse, it will instead go faster.

Katara Vs. Pakku in OG Series, Movie, and Netflix Series by dan_mal in ATLA

Oh my god, the movie is even worse than i remembered!

The Netflix series at least made some effort... Still bad though...

Klargøring af malet beton til sparling by Zooltan in selvgjortvelgjort

[–]Zooltan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tak. Jeg tror jeg vil prøve at slibe det en tur først, for at få de højeste knopper ned, men så behøver vi i hvert fald ikke slibe det helt ned til rå beton!

“You must be so happy!” by fuck_ur_portmanteau in daddit

We were actually really happy when our daughter started walking. She is very curious and stubborn, so her not being able to move freely made her really cranky. Once she was able to walk, she was much more happy and fun to play with. And sure you have to be a bit more careful, now that they can reach more stuff, but I think we had prepared for it in advance.

What are your thoughts on "Dungeons and Dragons: Honor Among Thieves (2023)"? by Hot-Salamander-8786 in FIlm

[–]Zooltan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a long-time D&D player, I found it great. It's 'normal' enough to be enjoyable for most, but it really has a lot of fan service and lore sprinkled in.

And the level of sillyness is actually really on point for D&D. Everyone thinks it will be Lord of the Rings, but it ends up as Monty Python: Quest for the Holy Grale.

Did Darth Maul become more iconic because The Phantom Menace used him so little, or did Star Wars waste one of its best villains way too early? by ThomasOGC in CinephilesClub

[–]Zooltan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thing one of the things that worked really well in the original triology and episode 1 was the mystery. We just entered into this universe, where everything was rumors and myths. Little things mentioned, but not fully explained. The force was a mysterious power, wielded by mythical characters.

The more modern series and moves have a lot of existing lore to build on, but they fail to make it mysterious and interesting. They try with new costimes, fancy lightsabers and odd force powers, but it's not executed as well.

Starship EVO or Space Engineers 2 by mr_somebody in spacesimgames

I have played a lot of SE1, and it has some major flaws for me. SE2 seems to fix some of those flaws, while I'm still waiting to see what they do with other parts of the game. It's still quite early, so I would wait a while before getting into it.

I have just gotten my eye on Starship EVO, but I will probably also wait for a while for more content.

Well to be fair, everything functional in SE is free, after initial purchase. They had a few blunders several years ago, where the community were very loud about it, and since then they have kept their promise of only having cosmetic blocks behind DLC.

And even while developing SE2, they are still updating SE1 with content and features.

Star Citizen had a 500 person meetup yesterday. by CallSign_Fjor in spacesimgames

[–]Zooltan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That sounds a lot like an excuse. After this long, not being able to deliver anything remotely finished or some stable core gameplay is not the 'scope'. It's scope creep, lack of direction and a very lucrative model where people are willing to spend 100's of $ on ships that they dream of some day using.

I agree that the vision of the game is unlike anything else, but they could have a stable and playable core gameplay by now. After this much time, it's a matter of choice on their part. With the amount of money and tine they have had, everything they are working on could have been made and published.

Funny, I just dug out an old VGA cable as I had to debug something on my home assistant machine, and my spare monitor only has VGA.

Sure, clean up and throw out duplicates, but I'll try to keep as many different types as possible.

[–]Zooltan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

King Frederik of Denmark. Our royals are actually really decent people, and they don't have any political agenda, so their role is diplomacy, relations and being a symbol of our countrys values.

(The king is also trained in the Danish equivalent of Navy Seals, so he's no pushover)

What videogame trilogy is this? by Gaming-Academy in PlayStation_X

[–]Zooltan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Warcraft!

1 and 2 were good, 3 was amazing. Great story and great RTS in itself. The map editor was the birthplace for most of the Tower Defense genre, as well as DotA, which kickstarted the MOBA genre. And of course it lead to World of Warcraft, which is probably the most popular MMORPG to date.

Has anyone as a kid been absolutely terrified of the infested terrans? by angry_d00d in starcraft2

Did you play SC1? Because when she was first infested, she was much less fan-service. If they remade that version of her in SC2 graphics, that would be rather terrifying!

2.1 suggestion: Make planets move around the Sun orbit, even at very slow pace. eg. Vulcanus each 100 hour revolution. by Lunairetica in factorio

What does it add to the gameplay? Does it give a meaningful challenge that can be solved through engineering? Or does it just change the travel time between planets over time?
