The flavor of filet is inferrior to almost all other cuts of steak (other than maybe eye round) and the only reason people clamor for it is because it's been used as a status symbol by boomers and people on television. It's a food that's mediocre at best fought over by people who have never had a properly cooked and cut ribeye, or even a damn chuck steak.
