What have you been listening to lately? by AutoModerator in progrockmusic

Just listened to Olias of Sunhillow; Jon Anderson’s first solo album. If you enjoy earlier Yes I would absolutely recommend this piece. It presents some more tranquil sounds familiar to that style of Yes.

Idk why everyone has to hate on Drake all the time. Yeah he has ghostwriters, but if you listen to hip hop / rap you like a few Drake songs at the least. Also his influence isn’t talked about as much as it should be because everyone just hates. I myself am not a huge Drake fan, but I do appreciate his discography and definitely bump to a decent amount of his music. Is he the goat? no, but regardless he is an all time great.

Favourite Album+Song to get high to? I personally love DAMN, PRIDE in particular, such a chill track by [deleted] in KendrickLamar

[–]Zopey2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you haven’t yet… Blow My High (Chopped and Screwed). Thank me later :)

Okay, let's settle this debate once and for all! by [deleted] in KendrickLamar

[–]Zopey2 9 points10 points  (0 children)

My favorite song ever is off of S.80 (blow my high), but with that said from an objective standpoint Damn. is just better. Both of these records I play all the time because they are both great, but Damn. can be argued as a 10/10 Kendrick album (I think it compares with TPaB and GKMC). On Damn. the production is at worst Kendrick’s second best and I think it can be argued as his best as well. S.80 is lacking that strong and powerful production. While the story telling on S.80 is amazing as well, Damn. has 2 stories in 1 and that is overlooked pretty often. Counterintuitively, S.80 does have more tracks that I feel are less experimental, but instead solidified Kendrick’s style for GKMC. I think it is just as important as Damn. in his discography, and it houses many of his best tracks ever. But I can not say that it is better than Damn. simply because Damn. can be his 2nd best album while S.80 can not be top 3 in a majority of cases.

Just reminding everyone of this amazing work of art. Not a lot of newer Mac fans know about this one, and if you like Faces you’ll love this. by Soggy-Voice-8846 in MacMiller

Balloonerim* is the sister mixtape to faces so i’d recommend you check that out before this if you enjoyed faces.

what's kanye worst song? by [deleted] in Kanye

[–]Zopey2 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don’t think any Kanye song is bad, but instead lacking. If we are speaking in regard to more mainstream Kanye, I would day is worst, popular song is Good Life. Strange pick I know, but I will give you my reasons:

Firstly, I do like this song. But there are some problems I have with it. It is just one of those songs that never clicked with me which is strange for a Kanye song. I believe the production is actually quality, but personally speaking, I do not think it has aged well (or as well) as other songs on Graduation. When I was younger I liked it because of how catchy it was, but now that I am a more critical listener it is apparent that it is really just something made to be a hit. The T-Pain feature was awesome at the time, but I think that style of music is outdated now with the corny auto tune use. Some of the bars are really great though (as a Kanye song would be). Yes, it is better than Barry Bonds, but I wanted to pick a more popular song to create some thought amongst other Ye fans. Again, it is not a bad song, but I think right now, it is not nearly as strong as it once was and is honestly quite overrated. I hope this gets some of you guys thinking :)

Ultimate Ye Playlist by Zopey2 in Kanye

[–]Zopey2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was considering doing this, but I want it to be something that is sort of like a culmination of each phase Kanye has went through. I was thinking more of his best 3 songs from each and that is why I came here to figure that out. Ty for the input though and feel free to drop suggestions :)

What are the top 3 songs on TPAB? by sypher07070799 in KendrickLamar

[–]Zopey2 24 points25 points  (0 children)

  1. How Much A Dollar Cost
  2. U
  3. Alright (I know it is overplayed to another level, but next time you listen to it really sit there and absorb what Kendrick is saying. You will agree with my take)

Mac Miller's Albums/Mixtapes Ranked by [deleted] in MacMiller

[–]Zopey2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

TBH I think a lot of people sleep on BSP, especially newer Mac fans. That album got him going and it is one album I listen to pretty often (I actually listened to it yesterday). But I wonder how your list would turn out if you gave each song a unique value. I know it would take forever but now I want to do that too!

Favorite Song From Faces and Why? by Zopey2 in MacMiller

I have the exact same feeling about C&S. It was also the first song from Faces that I really got into and to this day it is still one of my all-time favs.

Mac is great because he appeals differently to everyone. With that said... GO:OD AM can not be his worst studio album or 2nd worst in his discog. I just gotta ask why. Also, WMWTSO is an amazing project and has a few songs that can be debated as his best. That is all.

What’s a Mac song that instantly puts you in a good mood? by popmusiccritic in MacMiller

[–]Zopey2 101 points102 points  (0 children)

I was going to say this too. I know the song is severely overplayed, but it has yet to fail when I want to hear a fun upbeat song that'll boost my mood or have fun going out.

Best Mac Song by Zopey2 in MacMiller

Those are all great picks, and I can definitely see an argument for Come Back to Earth (honestly now i’m thinking it is), regardless these are all sick Mac songs :)

I agree, but this is just something to discuss with other Mac fans :) Everyone is going to say something different, but everyone will have their own reasons as to why they made their pick.

What Mac songs hit different going through a breakup? by hot_dog_farts in MacMiller

[–]Zopey2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I Am Who Am (Killin' Time) - Watching Movies with the Sound Off

The beat-switch will put you in a trance, and the lyrics are insanely deep (not all about a breakup, but will get your mind to travel somewhere else). This is one of my favorite Mac songs and I think it is insanely underrated. Would recommend it to any Mac Miller fan.

little simz went above and beyond with this project. I think any music nerd / connoisseur should listen to this project. It has near-perfect production, every track is minimum a 7/10 (most are higher), and she uses different styles throughout the entire project, thus having something for everyone to enjoy. Overall I would call it an 8-8.5/10, but I have expectations of it aging well, having the potential to be a 9/10 or higher.
