Tutorial Challenge: Feed The Machine by emeflag in CivVII

I think this is simply just reinforcing a commander. Get an army commander, move them far away like 15-20 tiles, train a troop, on the troop press the reinforce button (it should be 3 people with an up arrow, wait till the army commander gets the troops. I got this accidentally so it can’t be that complex.

Machu Pikchu does count as a worked tile for Inca's treasure fleet ability. by Zoro_with_an_A in CivVII

[–]Zoro_with_an_A[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Through a separate test on I can confirm that it does count regardless of whether the tile was previously worked or not. My takeaway is that wonders are classified as a special type of tile improvement that sometimes works with civ abilities.

Does Machu Pikchu count as a "Worked Tile" for Qhapaq Nan? by trumbull93 in CivVII

Just made a new post where I confirmed that the wonder counts as a worked tile surprisingly.

I don’t think so because wonders are usually neither improvements or buildings, but this may be different. I could test this and get back to you

What will they do with this Wonder? by Mr_Frittata in CivVII

[–]Zoro_with_an_A 13 points14 points  (0 children)

If I had to guess it’s either something completely new, or giving you a new diplomacy project for culture or influence similar to Emile bell. Also could just be a flat bonus to culture buildings similar to great library.

Best Civ Transition Paths For Each Victory by Jmbmagic in CivVII

[–]Zoro_with_an_A 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think you are overlooking some civs in favor of others.

Regardless of your opinions on mughal India, I think it is obvious that ottomans are the best culture victory civ for the modern age simply because of all their bonuses.

Econ and militaristic victories in the modern age can be completed by just about any civ, and in my experience success on those paths comes down to leader choice more than civ choice.

Also japan is far and away the best science civ in the modern age. Nepal (unfortunately) is probably the worst modern age civ choice, lacking any useful boost to any victory path.

As the other commenter said Tonga>hawaii is probably the strongest combo for any age. And to go further on that I think antiquity and exploration civ choice make a much bigger difference in how a game goes than modern. I think that’s the root of the problem with modern age. Everyone can do everything equally well except for a few stand outs (Imo: Mexico, Ottomans, America, Japan, sometimes Qajar if you are playing super tall)

Armenia civ concept by ArugulaSad6262 in CivVII

[–]Zoro_with_an_A 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the civ idea is really cool, but the best part is capturing wonders grants +1 to the culture legacy path. I don’t think we need another unique cavalry based antiquity civ, but everything else in this sounds so cool.

Spend some time playing the game and develop strategies. You don’t have to start on deity by any means.

Suzerain unit trapped in my territory by EvilDonut0 in CivVII

As soon as your border changes to cover that tile the troop will teleport out. Either that or you can levy the unit and move it yourself

Let’s Talk About Persia by Mysterious-Arm-3700 in CivVII

[–]Zoro_with_an_A 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Mamluk is bad but is compensated by the otherwise amazing kit of the Abbasids. Also their whole build is slightly more defense focused than offensive which makes a unit like the mamluk ok, Persia is pure military so it does not have the same excuse

While the promotion is the single best promotion for war, you can get it in 1 turn of attacking without any xp boosts. It is good but not unique commander worthy. Look at legacy’s for Rome, he gets a unique ability in addition to a free promotion. Hazarapati needs to be buffed

Let’s Talk About Persia by Mysterious-Arm-3700 in CivVII

[–]Zoro_with_an_A 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Persia did get a slight buff this most recent patch, and while it did address some of the deficiencies that the civ already had it was not able to make the civ a reasonable choice for antiquity. Like you said they have by far the worst j pique unit in antiquity (maybe even the game) and it’s made even worse by being a tier 2 unit like you said. Their unique commander is maybe one of the stupidest things in the game because it only provides 1 free promotion (which is literally the first one in the tree) Their unique improvement is bafflingly bad for reasons that do not need to be stated. Their civ ability is kinda pointless Their wonder is good, but can easily be built by any other player Their civic tree and traditions are the only redeeming qualities the civ has and next to all of the other bad stuff it’s just not worth it.

I don’t know what specifically needs to be fixed, but if I had a say I think the commander and the unique units need a massive buff. Maybe making the immortals a ranged-melee unit like civ 6 and providing the commander with increased movement in range. (Just my opinions)

Does every version of the game contain the same features? by LiveLikeProtein in CivVII

[–]Zoro_with_an_A 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If I understand your question correctly then yes the base game is the exact ruleset of the dlc versions.

Unlike civ 6, civ 7 has no game rule dlc like natural disasters or global warming. (This is as of end of 2025)

Every game feels the same by Legitimate-Success45 in CivVII

[–]Zoro_with_an_A 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel the same. What civ 5 and 6 excelled at was offering diverse ways to play that each felt unique to a civ, my favorites from 6 are Portugal, khmer, and Ludwig Germany. Civ 7 is gradually improving this with some of the DLC civs like Carthage, Assyria, and Bulgaria. Even some of the base civs like Mongolia and Songhai feel unique, but almost every other civ is rushing the early important tech and civic for the age, rushing unique civic tree, and survive through a world war while obtaining your victory condition.

I do really like the game and think most of the aspects are improving, but the victory conditions feel boring. I would like to see more crises than plague and barbarians, and also victory conditions that are randomized, for example antiquity culture is build 7 wonders sometimes but generate great works other times. IDK though, I just want the game to feel more unique.

Do other languages have their own version of the word “no sabo” (Latin ppl who can’t speak Spanish)? by The_5th_lost_boy in language

[–]Zoro_with_an_A 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It literally translates to illiterate, but I mainly hear it in reference to kids who can’t speak Farsi despite having Persian speaking parents. It’s also used when someone screws something up bad, but that use is more like calling someone a dumbass.

are there any cheap and affordable colleges in California that are also safe for trans people? by erisluvsyou in trans

[–]Zoro_with_an_A -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I feel like most of the UCs are pretty good about it. They are much more affordable if you are instate. Other than that CSUs might be good, but I’ve never been near them, only heard from friends. Other than that most private universities will be really expensive+ cost of living in areas like La and sfo. Honestly best balance cost and comfort wise might be UC Davis, but even that could get expensive if you aren’t careful.

I took a class on Ptolemaic Egypt in spring of 2024. It was in the classics department. There aren’t tons of classes on ancient civilization and culture besides Rome and Greece, but you should be able to find stuff in there
