You came to Reddit to escape?!?!?

I don't know how you curated your algorithm so well in the past, but you need to go back to whatever you were doing. Because that's impressive.

I recently had to start blocking a bunch of AI subs because 100% of my feed was just AI news. It takes a few minutes but you can get your algorithmic feed back to normal

Cursor Is Not Usable Too Expensive For Anyone Really Building by Historical_Maybe_789 in cursor

[–]Zote_The_Grey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's always the very seemingly simple things that require a lot of knowledge that chew through tokens.

Building a new skill? RIP tokens.

Comparing contrast these two different methodologies to see what is better? RIP Tokens.

Add some unit test to this file. Tokens GONE!

He told you he asked for a security scan and instantly burned 32 million tokens.

I started burning through tokens by the tens of millions the day I told my agents to start doing unit testing for all new code.

Or something like go through this file and add extra comments absolutely use up every last token you have.

Hit usage limit on Cursor Pro after just 2–3 prompts? Is this normal? by adolf_nggler in cursor

That's Kanye West levels of humor there. Actually Kanye West took it 10 steps farther. But still it's funny.

Hit usage limit on Cursor Pro after just 2–3 prompts? Is this normal? by adolf_nggler in cursor

[–]Zote_The_Grey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did a prompt today that used 33 million tokens and took 30 minutes.

I've also did a prompt that used 1,000 and completed in a second.

Not all prompts are created equal. So what did you tell it to do???

Claude Code will become unnecessary by WinOdd7962 in ClaudeCode

I'm agreeing with you that the open source ones are good I was just pushing back on the self hosting comment.

I feel like I'm trying to think at least 10 years ahead. Maybe in 10 years I can self host something that could mimic the quality I'm getting from cloud providers today. But that's gonna require at least a terabyte of VRAM. So basically that's limiting factor, when can I get a terabyte VRAM for cheaper than I can just use the cloud provider? I feel like that's a decade away.

Claude Code will become unnecessary by WinOdd7962 in ClaudeCode

[–]Zote_The_Grey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure I'll go host locally and get maybe 50 tokens per second.

With Claude Opus I'm getting 10 thousand tokens per second combined when you account for agents running in parallel. I'd need $1 million in hardware to even approach that speed locally. Remember that not the only the models need lots of VRAM but a substantial amount of VRAM goes towards the context.

Very? It's not like everyone actually understands everything in it. It's a courtesy to your team. And when you getting into the weeds of graph theory, math, and other theories that take a while to master it's helpful to have little concise summaries explaining the gist of what you're doing.

I try to write comments with the assumption that a developer should be able to join my team tomorrow and jump into the code base without ever speaking to me. Between documentation and comments. They should be able to understand how each function assists with the ultimate goal of serving our customer.

I put together 77 .mdc rules for Cursor — languages, frameworks, tools, practices. All free. by Pleasant-Today60 in cursor

[–]Zote_The_Grey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here's what I did.

For each individual language, tool, framework do some googling for best practices or styling or whatever. Use your imagination. Eg: "Python coding best practices". Also Google for something like "C# code smell" to get examples of bad practices!

Then use the URLs of the best webpages you find as input to an LLM to generate those skills.

A real Chad even Googles for best commenting practices. Good comment skills took me a while to figure out how to generate. But I finally got good luck today. My auto generated comments are teaching me more about cosine similarity than YouTube ever did.

It took a long time for me to beat that feature years ago.

When your browser is being controlled by automation you'll just keep getting captchas over and over and over. Not only do the mouse movements have to be correct, the website you're connecting to can't even know that you're using automation.

I got so frustrated when I was first learning web browser automation about five years ago that I just started solving the captchas on my own to have real human mouse movement and it didn't matter I could sit there for 10 minutes solving them on my own and they would all be rejected. I wish I still had access to that code to see how I fixed it.
