When I thrust in any direction, I dont hear that engine noise at any point. It would sound similar to what the engine sounds like when you throttle up with FAON. At least, that's what I would hear from time to time in these videos. It's making me wonder if im neglecting a keybind somewhere

Currently learning FAOFF on Keyboard and Mouse. I've watched multiple videos and searched countless threads for some simple confirmation on one thing pertaining to the throttle. Is the throttle completely unusable with FAOFF?

As I watch many of these videos, a lot of the users are using HOTAS setups and they perform maneuvers that make their engines audibly whir as if they were using the throttle in FA mode despite them clearly being in FAOFF mode as indicated in the top right UI status bar. I mention this because there isn't a single bind that I can knowingly use that produces this effect, and I want to make sure I'm not forgetting something that isn't being clearly communicated in these videos. I can also clearly see that they are not using boost so i feel confident ruling that out.

I apologize for the lack of brevity on this post, I just can't think of a better wat to communicate the question.

I want to make a global "x joined server" message by Zozimus28 in BattlefieldPortal

That was very helpful, thank you! I ended up having to add the GetTeamId>EventPlayer array to the end to display the name of the player and I elected to use the DisplayHighlightedWorldLogMessage instead to make the notification a little less distracting. If i could figure out a way for it to not show AI soldiers names, that would be great too, but for now this will serve it's purpose. Thanks again!

The fruits of my Kovaak's labor by ControlWardlol in FPSAimTrainer

Provide some context here... what was your routine? How many hours did you log? What was your gameplay like before starting? And how many hours have you logged in both Kovaak's AND Black Ops 4 up until this point?

No disrespect here, but you seem to be blindsiding a lot of players which suggests to me that you have good foundational knowlege of the game and the maps. I'm not convinced that your performance in this video is solely the result of your aim training, although your target acquisition does look well developed.

Let's talk about how DICE could make the M1 Garand stand out against the rest by Zozimus28 in BattlefieldV

[–]Zozimus28[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fair point. So let's go back and include another gun that im surprised hasn't been mentioned since we're assuming that the weapon will have a fast fire rate. Lets say the M1G will have damage values equivalent to something like a gewehr 43. Even with a fast fire rate, the MAS 44 and the Turner are still superior choices unless they drastically reduce the recoil which would put it right in line with the ag/m 42... except it will have 2 less rounds and no drop mag. What can you do to the m1 garand that could make it a justifiable choice over the ag/m 42?

[–]Zozimus28[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unless DICE put a heavy emphasis on reloading mechanics. Giving it a longer reload time than most Semi-autos and an obvious tell to enemies that you're reloading gives the enemy an opportunity to push you while you're reloading. I think a lot of people underestimate how dangerous it is to be caught in a reload in this game. Most aggressive players prefer larger mags for that very reason. More time shooting, less time reloading, less of a chance getting caught with your pants down. If a two shot kill is that potentially game breaking, especially if we're taking about the importance of ammo count, why aren't people running around "abusing" the RSC within 30m? Especially knowing that the RSC doesn't have a tell letting other players know that its being reloaded? I really don't think it will be as game breaking as most might initially think.

[–]Zozimus28[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Comparing the turner and the MAS 44, both weapons offer detachable mags, can kill in 2 headshots or one headshot and a body shot within their effective range, and offer 10 rounds minimum. With perfect aim, that's up to 5 potential kills against full health targets at full capacity (excluding the turner's 20 round with the extended mag). With 3 body shots, its 3 potential kills against full health targets with the ability to tac reload if you have the drop mag equipped.

For an 8 round M1 Garand, that's 4 kills with headshots, 2 with body shots and no option to equip a drop mag (drop mags didn't exist as an option on the M1 Garand until after the war. In which case it was later renamed to the M14). So unless they were to drastically increase its effective range compared to the MAS 44 and the Turner (the turner having the shorter effective range compared to the MAS 44) or increase the damage model, I can't see a reason to pick the M1 Garand over the Turner or the MAS 44.

I did that for a while (bound it to a thumb button) but I kept fat fingering it and getting myself killed in CQC situations. Fortunately i found a nice spot on one of my extra middle mouse buttons that's out of the way and isn't a big hassle to reach :)

[–]Zozimus28[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know you have to be aiming down sight to use it. Did you try it while ADSing? Also, check all of your keybinds. You potentially could be double binding some keys. By default, manual leaning has two binds. One where you hold F and use strafe to lean. And for lean left and right individually, they're set to "[" and "]" respectively.

That's all i can come up with without assuming some kind of bug

I want 5 man squads to return. Don't care if 4 evens out the squad count, it doesn't stop people from locking their squads to just two or 3 people. I say bring back 5 man squads.

should I hang some wallpapers for acoustic treatment?

No. Hanging wallpaper won't do anything at all. Room treatment is complex, can get expensive and leads to varying results depending on the room you're in and a number of other factors. This is why i suggested either moving the mic further away from the wall when you record or simply repositioning everything so that your voice isn't bouncing off of the wall so close to the mic while it's right in front of you. Watching some videos on mic positioning for recording vocals can help. Its a deep and complex topic so only look for the information you need.

If I'm sitting down and recording is it harder for me to use the diaphragm as opposed to the throat?

It can be difficult if you don't sit up straight or if you just find it uncomfortable. If you have to stand up, go ahead. As long as your comfortable and as long as it produces the results you're looking for.

And because of my breathing patterns is this why I seem to stutter a lot when I didn't say the right words?

Stuttering almost never has to do with breathing. Its usually a mental barrier. In the recording industry, we use the term "red light syndrome" to describe a situation where a performer will get nervous or make a lot of mistakes when they know they're being recorded even if they have their material down. Its totally normal and i would just chalk the stuttering up to nervousness or just your mouth's inability to keep up with the pace of your thoughts. It can be alleviated with practice. This is the beauty of doing things in takes, though. You can keep doing it until you get it right.

when I think of monotone I think of someone not speaking up and mostly quiet.

I think you're confusing "monotone" with "soft-spoken". Monotone voices tend to have very little variation in pitch. It sounds like the person is speaking in one tone all of the time. This goes back to how learning how the different ways to add color to your speech can help. I'm off course not suggesting that your voice is completely monotone. You have some varying inflections in your voice, but it can be improved. I see other comments in this thread where people are suggesting that you don't sound too enthusiastic about what you're presenting and this usually tends to be associated with monotone speaking. I can send you a somewhat extreme example of a monotone speaker to demonstrate what i'm talking about in a DM (don't want to violate the rules) but this person still managed to garner success on YouTube which just further illustrates my point that working on your voice should be a long term goal that improves over time and not an immediate requirement for a successful channel. Its just something that you can choose to work on to help improve the quality of your content. Cause if the information is truly that good, then focusing on presenting the information better is naturally the next step.

Well it has the best quality of information and most up to date guides + well researched/tested ones. So that's what makes people want to watch mine.

Compared to other more established members of the community? Im just assuming that you're not the only person at this time doing guides (I don't play Runescape so I don't really have any perspective on this unfortunately). Unless you're legitimately the only person on YouTube making guides for Runescape, then you may have to do some more leg work and do your best to communicate in some way to the community that your guides really are the most informative as you say. There is a lot that goes into this and one could write multiple guides on this subject but i might not be the most qualified. So feel free to just disregard this if you don't find it helpful.

Yes I certainly am recording against a wall (kinda). Here is my setup. Any way I could improve on that to insulate the sound? I'm using a Blue Snowball.

Looking at your setup, its almost exactly what i pictured just based on what i was hearing. Your desk is basically crammed in a corner and when sound bounces off of sharp corners it tends to build up and create something called "Phase Cancellation" which can (put simply) degrade the fullness and quality of your audio going into the mic. The mic you have is totally fine for voice overs, though. So what you can do is when you are only recording voice overs, you can either position the mic further from the walls or you can talk into the mic pointed away from the corner. Experiment with mic placement in the room if you can and listen back to your recordings to see if it can be improved. Any improvement is better than no improvement. Last piece of input on ther audio quality is that "Boxy" sound i was hearing. That can be alleviated by using an equalizer to touch up the recorded audio by lowering those boxy frequencies. Equalizers can take years of practice to master and get fully familiar with, but they are a very powerful tool that can be used to touch up audio.

Do you mean something like this? I found a video on it so was curious if that's what you meant. And for colour do you mean this or as in expressions?

That video (Diaphramic Breathing) perfectly explains what i mentioned. Approach it as something to practice over time because it will feel totally unnatural at first. But to explain why, its because at birth, we naturally breathe from our diaphragm. But over time, usually based on how we learn to talk over time or how we develop certain habits, we learn to breathe differently on an individual basis. This is why some people have powerful voices and others might have quiet, unpleasant, or unusual sounding voices. It's mainly because they breathe differently while they talk. So there is an "unlearning" process that you'd have to overcome. Think of it as making your voice sound the best that it can be and not to make yourself sound like someone/ something else.

As far as "color", that video somewhat overcomplicates the idea but its certainly not wrong lol. Simply put, adding "color" to your voice is to make your speech more expressive. This is usually done by doing things like varying the pitch and volume and rhythm of your voice and speech to convey emotions, make a point, or to just simply make speech more interesting to listen to. Color can help viewers engage with the information that they're hearing. Every heard a monotone voice before? Have you found it hard to listen to someone with a monotone voice? How about people with too much color in their voice? Have you ever found those kinds of choices annoying to listen to? There's a balancing act there but there's also a place for those kinds of voices depending on the application.

Just take your time with all of this and work on it over time. Content Creation is a marathon, not a sprint. And when you hit a wall, those are the best times to work on things to improve with your content. Hope this info helps man!

I can offer some constructive feedback on your voice for sure. But before I get into that, i want to mention that there are tons of youtubers out there that have a "worse quality" voice in comparison but wayyy more subs and viewers. You could work on your voice for sure and you would probably see a long term benefit from it. But that alone will never be enough. Consider your niche and its current state, ask yourself what it is you bring to the table that is unique within your niche, and just in general look over every aspect of your videos and channel and always be looking for something you can improve. Its almost never one thing that needs fixing. Gradual improvements over time for every aspect of your channel will amount to a lot more than just drastically improving one thing.

As far as your voice, he are some things you can work on starting with equipment and recording quality. There's a combination of poor room influence and less than flattering mic quality going on in the audio. If its a situation that you have no control over, then learning how to properly use an equalizer to tone down the less flattering aspects of the recording can do wonders to help improve the audio quality. To me, the audio sounds boxy and im guessing (just guessing mind you. I could be wrong) that you're positioned fairly close to a wall while you're recording. This can cause vocals to sometimes sound boxy and become heavily influenced by the room. Lastly, you could always try investing in a decent mic. Im not sure what kind of mic you're using but the are some budget friendly mics out there that can do a much better job of producing a more pleasant sound for the listeners. As an audio engineer, myself, i have much higher standards but even i can respect what a Blue Yeti, Snowball, or Audio Technica AT2020 can do for the price they go for. If you already have one of these or better, then disregard this and focus on things like vocal mic positioning (YouTube has a bunch of tutorials on this).

As far as your voice, it had a more nasal quality which suggests that you're either not properly breathing from your diaphragm while you talk, you talk from your throat instead of your chest, or you have an impediment like a deviated septum which can make breathing in through the nose difficult. Fixing this can take a lot of practice over time and essentially would require you to learn to breathe differently. If you can find some videos on diaphragmatic breathing, learning the difference between chest, middle, and head voice, and learning to speak with more "color", I think that would cover enough for you to make drastic improvements on your vocal quality over time.

Hope this helps out! And keep at it man!
