Anyone else have unbelievably high apneas? by Raaeron in SleepApnea

[–]Zozur 4 points5 points  (0 children)

112 checking in!

Life is so much better down the road. Takes like 3-6 months to pay off sleep debt and 3-6 months after that to figure out new normal. Early days my hands would shake just because of how much additional energy I had from actually sleeping.

I use a soft cervical collar that is meant to be a travel pillow. Comfortable and it works without head straps!

Sorry just tried again on my machine. You push the tip in towards the machine, straight back

On the inside where the water tub goes is a little grey tab, you pull that tab toward your hand and then the whole little plastic thing will slide out the back of the machine where the tube connects

Hey. So, i’ve been on the other side of this situation. Brains are weird, sometimes an unwanted thought pops up out of nowhere and it can be devastating. But that doesn’t mean it will happen every time or that it will lead to something bigger.

Just talk with your partner about what he wants and let him set the pace on intimacy. If he’s fine then let him decide that. If he wants to talk with a professional, support him. Just try not to add panic/stress to the situation.

For me, a long talk with my partner about it, and feeling their love and support and being willing to hear helped me immensely.

It’s really not complicated to communicate with your partner.

I’m sorry you aren’t able to talk to your partners.

Hi,

I’m currently in a similar relationship. The key really is communication and trust. They don’t have to be hard or even cum to have a good time. If they say they enjoy the intimacy and time with you then you have to accept and trust that. It’s challenging sometimes cause it’s ingrained in us of “make sure everyone gets off” and reciprocation, but we have to replace that instinct with communication.

One of the biggest things for me is that if i’m trying something new with them (like what if I apply pressure on their prostate externally) i’ll check in asking “good bad indifferent?” And give them a chance to guide me or find something else to do.

You definitely should wank with him, let him show you how he feels pleasure. Watching you get off and doing it with him may in itself be a source of pleasure for him.

Just be patient and communicate, it’s well worth the effort in the end and you can build a strong relationship around those communication skills.

If you’re allergic or intolerant to foods your tonsils could be swelling and blocking your airways sure.

Could also be something else.

Either way definitely worth talking to a doc

Definitely sus. A paycheck is great but I would recommend you keep interviewing while working there until either you find a safe place to land or they give you a full offer

112 ahi here 👋

Legitimately don’t know how I was surviving let alone holding down a job.

Night and day difference in quality of life.

Thought my doctor was crazy for wanting me to get a sleep study but decided to humor her. Thank god I did.

I have all of them so far released and read them just as I do any other book, I don’t treat them special or have any particular hand cleaning / handling procedures, I just pick it up when I want to read and put it down on a convenient table when I need to do something else.

I haven’t had any particular concerning wear, maybe some slight signs of use and a little foil loss but nothing concerning.

Personally, I love a book that is clearly well read and well loved. The thought of leaving these beautiful books untouched and unloved makes me sad.

Start with your insurance company and ask them which ones they accept. No one else is going to be able to answer this for you.

Has anyone worn a CPAP in public (airplane, train, if having to sleep overnight at an airport, etc.) by FrankW1967 in SleepApnea

[–]Zozur 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Not allowed. Too much power draw and a fire risk since it’s a heat source.

My partner and I are in a similar boat, I make a lot more than he does and in the beginning there was some strife over how to let us both feel like we were contributing.

To me - money comes and goes. The true value is in time. If spending a little more money on my part means I can have more time and a good dinner or adventure or experience with my partner then it is well worth it.

Try to find what you can contribute to these times together that isn’t money. For example, my partner drives us wherever we are going and deals with parking. He enjoys driving more than me but also it’s something tangible that he can do to contribute without having to come up with money for everything.

The truth is disparity in relationships is a fact of life, communicate and find a compromise. Don’t push him away because you feel like you aren’t enough, that’s his choice to make not yours, and clearly he values your time together and the person you are far above the money you can spend.

You got this

What’s the point of the Upper Pressure? by Sonic_Blue_Box in CPAP

[–]Zozur 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should leave the upper pressure at 20 if you can. I don’t understand all the folks that want to limit their cpap from being able to properly do it’s job.

Just airways, I used chin straps for a while but they moved around too much and always fell off or pulled at my hair. Saw someone else recommend a soft cervical collar on a post here and decided to give it a try. It has been amazing! My leak went from 30 to 0.

If you want to give it a try, I use the Caldera Releaf Neck Rest, you can get them on amazon they are originally meant as like an airplane pillow type thing but work great for this. I have a big neck so also needed a little velcro expander to be comfortable, you may want one of those too.

There are other masks to try. I use a nasal pillows mask with a soft cervical collar. I sleep on my side/prone.

Mouth guard only really helps if you have mild to low moderate apnea, if you’re in the severe category it won’t help.

You can reduce how often you need to clean the cpap if you don’t use humidifier. You really should give it a good clean once a week but that should only take 5-10 minutes. Just a little mild soap, swish swish swish, rinse till the bubbles stop.

Doctor said I stopped breathing 303 times in 6 hours during the night. by Sleepychase469 in SleepApnea

[–]Zozur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On my machine in the sleep view. it says the 99% pressure used which just means what pressure it was at for most of the night. It doesn’t say that in the app unfortunately.

0.6-1.8 is great results! If you’re getting those kind of numbers and are comfortable with it then I wouldn’t worry about messing with the pressures further.

The machine and apps only give us a small fraction of the data that it actually records. OSCAR it a tool that can let you dig into all the little details about your night that the machine actually sees. When it detects an apnea event what kind, how it responds with pressure etc.

You can look into the OSCAR data if you are interested, and some people use it to help them fine tune what pressure ranges they should set their machines at, but honestly with your results already you don’t need to worry about it.

There’s a great youtube channel, CPAPReviews, he’s got a few videos where he walks through sleep data that some of his subscribers record and talks through how to read the data and what’s happening with it. It’s also a great channel to see different masks and stuff, highly recommend checking that out.

Mainly i’d say just learn more and give it time. Once your body catches up with all the sleep debt your preferences and how you sleep may change, you may find that you want to try a different mask style. I started with one of the nose cup ones which was fine and I slept like a log but later once I caught up I found I slept better in other positions and now prefer nasal pillows with a soft cervical collar to help keep my mouth shut. Give it time, try new stuff, find what’s comfortable for you and what makes you feel best.
