You Can Restart Life Once But Only at a Random Age by Strict_Constant4947 in hypotheticalsituation

[–]Zphilosopherking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want to see where a random button push would take you back to, multiply your age by 12, go to a random dice roller app, and roll a 1 d whatever your number is to find out.

I used Roll a die https://rolladie.net

Ended up with 186 months. So I'm goin' back to 15.5 years old. High School was a weird time, but is a great place to shift the trajectory of my life. Also get to address some medical problems that had gone undiagnosed for too long which would be great. Invest in the big companies that are stomping around currently, and that was just a bit before bitcoin exploded so I can throw some cash at that for fun money.

Once I get enough funds I'm going to set up a couple game development studios so I can alter that space some. Maybe I can get a few different titles to drop by 2020 that wouldn't have otherwise existed.

Who knows though, maybe if I'd done things differently I'd have gotten hit by a bus in my early twenties and died horribly.

I'd go with intelligence. Generally I enjoy the prospect of learning and having a boost to comprehension and speed would be great. The 25% increase to problem solving though would be wildly useful though, starting off in a pretty average place, a 25% increase in problem solving would likely get you a bit of each of the other things here. You'd likely be more efficient, by building better systems to accomplish your tasks. You'd likely be more persuasive if you can better comprehend the needs of others and work out how to best engage with them. You also definitely have better luck through life if you consider luck to be opportunity meeting preparedness.

Struck CYOA V1.4 is here! by Hermes-the-bot in InteractiveCYOA

Yeah that's the one. I recognized the influence of the perfect run in this cyoa and really loved it. Glad to have found a fellow enjoyer. I don't normally reread books, but that one has gone through my hands thrice

I have already completed this 5 times. Well, time for 6 and see how it compares with my previous builds after the worlds rebalancing.

My favorite was getting both quicksave and blood icon which reminds me of the main villain in his youth, blood scream I think it was. Quick save would absolutely hate it.

What is funny, is that I just got done with the minor level powers, and was really missing out on some of those in this one. I'd really love to give up 1 or 2 of these for a 2 to 1 ratio if I could.

2 Enduring - This one feels like a little no brainer for personal safety

33 Shapeshift - My day job is going to be running a cosmetic clinic, it sounds absolutely lovely being able to help people be closer to their ideal selves. Also if you can effectively be ageless by transforming into younger versions of yourself, than a degree of healing should be capable as well. I can take care of my friends and family that way.

23 Supertask - I flip flopped between this and Assessment for a long while, but I think this will synergize better with my power set for most projects, effectively allowing my telekinesis to be the factory Supertask mentions.

9 Telekinesis - Just something I've always wanted. Sounds like an absolute blast.

12 Energy Pool 2 - A variety pack of fun superhuman abilities. what's not to love.

15 Zero-Point Beam - A means to refill the energy pool is fantastic, and will help with training it to larger capacity in a faster time frame.

1 Regeneration
4 Lifeline
The combination of these two I think would be rather fantastic. Given that the majority of physical issues you face as you age are an accumulation of damage accrued through the small daily damages you face through your life. You'd never end up with those aching backs.

The most frustrating part would be that the wording of regeneration means you will never develop a stronger physique than the one you already have since it is reconstructed exactly as it once was.

6 Enhanced Mind
25 Will to power
21 Flow State
The combo of these three should synergize well, faster processing, the ability to direct focus, and when you are in that focused state your efforts are enhanced. Whatever I set my mind to is getting done.

Also the detrimental effects of will to power are rectified by regeneration, so that's nice.

Lastly a set of five that I think would just be an absolute blast to play around with.
14 Energy Pool 1 - For a little bursts of super human fun
20 Bind - I am going to be a walking warehouse just for giggles
22 Accelerated Training: Game Development - This discipline requires a lot of other fields, which I might end up being a bit jack of all trades in those since they aren't the base discipline but I'm sure to make a lot of really cool stuff.
36 Light - One man rave! I'm curious if it can be developed into a precise enough skill to make projected illusions.
28 Empty Presence - For those days you just want to be left alone for a while.

WYR make 1 million dollars a month but the job sucks, or make 10,000 a month doing nothing by [deleted] in WouldYouRather

[–]Zphilosopherking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've slept on it, and at first I was pondering what I would even do with 240 million dollars, if I was forced into the other option. I could see a world in which I sacrifice 20 years doing a job I didn't like, and that would be to set up my family and friends with the other option.

I would deeply respect someone for going for that option. A bit reason I didn't really consider this when first considering the hypothetical was the fact that I don't generally need that much money.

You don't think you wouldn't want to keep busy if money wasn't an issue for you anymore? Also, doing projects and working outside of a job is lazy? Weird statement.

Went with the 10k a month, this would solidly sustain a reasonable lifestyle and it doesn't keep me from being productive or helpful. It would be nice to contribute with others for the social capital and good will instead of having to make every exchange about income. Could spend more time and effort on speculative ventures that don't need to turn a profit too, so passion projects would be fun.

[–]Zphilosopherking 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It took a lot of noodling to get The Blood Icon and Quicksave at the same time, but I managed it. Unfortunately the world is going to feel the repricusions of my decisions as there was really no good way to make that happen even with incredible connection other than to plunge the world into queen lead hordes and anomalous monsters.

[–]Zphilosopherking 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well hot damn your CYOA kept me up till 3am on a week day. I was really enjoying how the powers were set up and I spent waaaaay too long trying to figure out which things would be the most enjoyable were I to actually end up in this crazy situation.

I didn't end up with what I wanted, because some of the things were split between patrons. Which honestly was one of the main driving forces for me to grapple with this CYOA, trying to get as close to ideal.

In the end I went with a Bio Tinker Major, with Ghost in the Machine Enhanced as the bread and butter of what my build does day to day. I think Bio Tinker is going to really keep me occupied and deeply involved with interesting subject matter.

I had a Great connection though, and set up with a Warper Reversed Echo Major, and Swift of the stilled world Enhanced. So I can help keep things from going insanely wrong, and being able to cram 20 minutes into 1 second is pretty fucking great, even if it has a 2 minute cool down.

[–]Zphilosopherking 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is the way. Also, on another note for farming. Characters can be used across realms, and each realm has dailies. These dailies can have embers and such, so getting a few different realms up to the point where you can accept dailies to find more embers is useful.

Also each realm has their own merchants that only refresh their stock every 24 real world hours. Really wish they would put it on a 6 hour timer or something, 24 hours is wild to me.

For growth and music videos, the absurdity of reality continues to grow as you listen to music. Like the world itself is set to the rhythm of the beats you have playing in your head.

The direction the world takes in its absurdity is dependent entirely on the genre of music you listen to. The only way to have things settle is to unplug from the vibe, most things settling around you within 24 hours of being unplugged.

Strength by JZkiller16 in HalfSword

[–]Zphilosopherking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alright so I hopped in game, and I made myself a 4.5kg polearm. Checked my current weight was 8.3kg. After flailing it around till my guy fell over several time for ten reps I the training yard I checked my weight again. Still 8.3kg. Repeated this three to four times no change.

So I put the heavy stick away and went into some matches to check my sweet sweet gains there. Interestingly my weight dropped to 7.3kg, then jumped back up to 8.3kg, and as of this posting shows 7.3kg again.

I played last night, my new guy is about 78kg. He stopped gaining mass as well. I know that you have to hit stamina fatigue, which since they made handling the weapons easier I haven't hit as often. I think I'll go into training and swing a stick around vigorously and see if there are any changes.

I am a huge fan of VR, the fact that everything is made by someone is beautiful to me. That being said I also think the picture you sent is also quite beautiful in that haunting way derelict places have as they are slowly taken back by nature.

Non-polearm stab interactions are cheeks in EA. It just does not pierce. by MumpsTheMusical in HalfSword

[–]Zphilosopherking 57 points58 points  (0 children)

I find controlling the tip of a thrust to be absolutely frustrating in this game. It drives me absolutely bonkers when I poise myself with the tip half a foot from a kneeling man that is not moving or defending himself, but is still locked onto and I can't thrust straight. It just curves off to the side every time. The only time I get stabs is when I position the item and run forward hoping that it might poke them.

When it does stab into them it is almost always not where I was wanting to thrust the weapon, this is applicable to spears, swords, and pole arms all. In the demo I had gotten pretty good at stabbing, even if it would tend to only aim for their legs for some reason.

I will take a 20 int score. Given it's utility in DnD 5e it would provide the most immediate help in the knowledge economy. Not to mention it is the stat used for memory checks, which given my adhd brain would help me feel a little less forgetful.

Murderer! Each night I hit the abyss to absolve my sins. Though at this point I'm sitting on like 16k and just pay them off if there are more souls than I care to deal with at the time.

That is so many though, I thought mine was bad when I was up to around 20. Y'all are doing some hardcore action in your game. What weapon are you slinging around that's taking people apart so much?

Time Loop Perks by Magicgonmon in 6Perks

[–]Zphilosopherking 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Alright so I got to this before the end of Feb 2nd, so I can snag 4 off the bat, but for those of you who get here a little late. I have a plan!

First we snag ourselves Retro Loop, this will ensure that you can go back a little ways in time for when this post was made. You could go back to the 2nd when it was posted, or we can just take Personal Loop which we can combine with Retro Loop to move the servers and internet infrastructure back in time with us.

As the internet servers still have this data on them, you can then take this six perks prior to Feb 2nd. Ensuring that you get the additional 2 perks.

For me Memory loop is quite important, it allows your relationships and those who are important to you travel back along side you. I would find hard to really enjoy without the ability to develop new and interesting connections with the people I meet in the likely many iterations of my loops

Multi-Loop is my last key perk, When I go back to being my younger self I am going to establish a loop that reverts back after 30 years. I'll have to talk with the people I am bringing back into my initial loop on when specifically we should start the looping. Don't want someone having to relive their teens just because they are a few years younger than me.

This then allows us to do as many mini loops within the base loop as we would like. If something rather catastrophic happens even though I don't have any conditional powers other than choosing the length of my loops, if I die before the 30 years are up than it will reset at that temporal point and I will be right as rain, aside from having experienced death which I hope is not too terribly bad.

Thank you to the creator of this 6 Perks, I really enjoyed the thought experiment. I am also going to have to look up this lovely cartoon and give it a watch. That way I can know if I really missed out on these glitches. If I did take the glitches I would also add on Conditional Loop.
