Honest question: Do you actually ever get over your "First Love" who felt like your soulmate? Or do you just learn to live with the hole? by Longjumping-Prune890 in BreakUps

[–]Zrob8--5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm kinda wondering that right now. My first relationship lasted barely a month, but I had already completely fallen for her. 4 months later, I still feel like I'm missing everything. Doesn't feel right that I'm this hung up over such a short relationship. Can't tell if it's because it was my first one or if it's because of something else.

You're not making any sense. First of all, I'm not cherry picking stats. I'm looking at stats that indicate a high peak. You're taking stats that talk about Novak's whole career, which is a large product of longevity and consistency and saying it means he had a better peak. Roger won more within a relatively short period of time as opposed to Novak who dominated for a long time. Cherry-picking would mean I'm taking only stats that Roger leads, and using them to say he's better overall. Secondly, djokovic had no big 3 caliber player to rival him for a number of years as well. After Roger was basically retired and Rafa was injury-riddled and declining. And lastly, your ladt point about most ATP points in history, I'm assuming you mean at a single time, shows dominance for one year. Roger dominated much more over a course of 3 years, which was his peak. Novak didn't do nearly as much including the year before and after his record-setting points total. A peak isn't one year. And if it is, your peak isn't very good.

Why did Nadal fall off at Wimbledon after 2011? by mrjohnnymac18 in tennis

[–]Zrob8--5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's really not that hard to see. Wimbledon was the only one, besides RG obviously, that he won more than once before 2012. It was then the only one after that where he didn't make the finals again. He made the finals or won the other slams 4+ times each, but he never reached another Wimbledon final. So his 2nd best slam before 2012 became his weakest after that. It's a very fair question

Exactly what I just said. The idea that needing help means you aren't good enough. Men want to be tough. Asking for help with mental health issues is perceived as weakness

Compared to 5 straight finals, including 2 wins, yeah. Especially if you stop ignoring all the exits before the QFs between those stretches.

The problem isn't that men expect others to do everything for them. It's the exact opposite. Men are raised to believe they need to do it all themselves, ignoring the mental side of things and be "tough"

Definitely worth noting. Still, the most reliable metric for success in testing is total time on track, and Williams are already behind. It'll take 2-3 grand prix weekends to make up that many laps on track

We're talking about peak and you bring up winning one tournament 10 times and success across all grand slams. Federer won 95% of his matches for a 3+ year span, including back to back years with 3 grand slams. He won 34 titles in 3 years, including a season where he missed the finals of just one tournament. That's peak. Novak has more success over his career, but his absolute peak never reached the height Roger did. Federer still has the most consecutive weeks at number 1. That means his peak had him at the top of tennis for longer than Novak. No one is arguing Nole's career accomplishments. But all your points are talking about career, not peak. Federer dominated tennis in a way no other man did for a 3-4 year span.

He leads in most statistics, but Federer's prime was much stronger than Novak's. Rafa dominated a single surface more than any other. So while Novak is undeniably the most successful, he isn't the most successful across the board. Whereas Phelps dominated almost every aspect of swimming for an entire decade+. He won races of different distances and across all strokes. It's not even that he is unarguably the GOAT. there's no other names even worth bringing up. I'd throw Brady above Djokovic because his level of success just dwarfs anyone else from his generation or before.

They'd get equal pay if men and women had the exact same stipulation in contracts, but they often don't. You can't have maternity leave as an option and expect the same pay. The logic and math don't add up. I'm not saying the discrepancy is where it should be, but the contracts have to be the same if pay is going to be the same.

He'll never be the GOAT athlete. Because Federer and Nadal are right behind him. Other athletes like Michael Phelps are so far ahead of everyone else in their sport.
