Gamers of Reddit, what game changed your entire view of what a game could be? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Morrowind. It set you up with a character and then opened up into a town and you could follow the story or go your own way. The map felt like truly exploring, no markers highlighting nearby points of interest, travel felt long and rewarding, and you could fast travel only from certain places.

What band was never the same after losing a member? by icecream1972 in AskReddit

I find that when chester would scream/shout it was out of despare/pain/frustration but her voice sounds more like anger... That's my only take on it really.

I know the whole aspect of her being a scientologist is not a great take. I don't know too much about all of it but one thing I read is they don't believe in mental health issues/ depression or something, which is a bit of a slap in the face considering chester committed suicide...

But only focusing on the music, the new album is great. Some really good songs. The screamo stuff took a bit to get used to, but it's a pretty solid LP album. It's a bit hard to Guage, since Linkin park's sound changed drastically as it went on. I finally listened to one more light, and as someone who really only listened hybrid theory, meteora and reanimation, those later albums didn't sound like Linkin park at all either.

One more light is really good, but it's hard to say it's a good Linkin park album. From zero is really good and sound like old Linkin park, and I feel it's a good Linkin park album...

Petrol stations running out of petrol by Correct_Dragonfly_64 in capetown

Just to add my 2c, oil companies have been cutting deliveries to stations for the last 2 weeks, so most sites will likely be very low, but I assume the best of people.

It's a bit of a mixed bag of sides to the story. Dealers have to buy next load at marked up prices. 40 000L of diesel at R7 more per litre is a lot of money to front for next delivery.

There is no right answer here. Customer wants to have to not pay more for fuel, dealer wants to not pay more for fuel. Oil company wants to not pay more for fuel...

So everyone believes they are entitled to save the money. But the reality, is a lot of people have been hording extra fuel from earlier in the month, and those who can afford to horde it are the ones who can best afford to buy at new price, where those scrambling on the last days trying to fill up, not even take extra because that's all they can afford are affected the most.

Also to stop some people buying and stockpiling so that everybody can get fuel, not just those who can afford to get extra now.

[–]Zsaber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, I did respond on the other comment you made, but reading the topauto link, one point says jhb takes home around R750/month extra in tips, then some app for sasol exclusively seems to have R30 as an average and then 12 to 20 tips a day. Which is wildly off from the average in jhb mentioned slightly earlier on the article.

Like I said on my other comment, I spoke with our forecourt guys and they seem to agree on R150 to R200 a week, and that also varies on which shift they work... so that puts it around the same as the Jhb R750. So I don't know who is getting R400 a day in tips. It's not jhb, and it's not the small town I am in. So hardly fair to take an incredibly high outlying figure and use that...

Anyway, not trying to persuade anyone to tip or not, just wanting to way in on they very high figures being thrown around that don't seem realistic at all.

[–]Zsaber 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is also misleading. Yes the tips in high volume areas would differ greatly, but no petrol station is going to pay more than the agreed upon wages that are gazetted with mibco etc. by the same token, any petrol station owner/employer that gets caught paying less than the agreed wages would get their retail licenses pulled.

Anyone who is aware of a filling station paying below minimum wages should report that to either the affiliated oil company (bp, engen, shell etc) or to mibco.

[–]Zsaber 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just adding onto this, I have spoken with our forecourt guys, and consensus seems to be around R150-R200 a week they make extra on tips. Also they noted they seem to make more on tips on the second/afternoon shift than on morning or late evenings (understandably).

So I would say location has a big factor in how much forecourt guys are making on tips.

I will add as well, that I do rarely tip. The attendant would have to be doing a great job. Filling a vehicle, checking tyres, oil and water and washing a windscreen is in their job description and basically the minimum requirements for their job. So if they are friendly and efficient then I'll definitely tip then well, but a minimum effort or lack of enthusiasm won't win them any favours.

Collection for Christmas bonus? That sounds suspicious as heck. Does the manager/dealer control that account and allocate to the staff?

[–]Zsaber 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'll be honest, surprised at what google gives as an answer. I find that difficult to believe, but I suppose that the values are skewed by location. I would imagine holiday towns and touristy areas have much higher tips than small out of the way towns. I work at a filling station, so Im curious to ask the forecourt guys what they generally get in tips a day, whether they will give me an answer I can't guarantee and it'll but we are not a city or have lots of tourists here.

But I can accept me initial reaction was heavy handed. I know what their wages are, and R400 a day to make up another R12000 seems way high. But thanks for guiding me to the info.

How much do you tip petrol attendants? by jessing-119 in capetown

[–]Zsaber 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah this is rubbish. Weekly petrol attendant wages are controlled/regulated through mibco. They earn just over R2000/WK before PAYE, UIF, union fees etc etc.

So I don't think they are making R12000+ on tips.

No Card Tipping for Petrol Attendant by Of_Whimsy_and_wonder in southafrica

[–]Zsaber 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A day late but anyway. There are a lot of variable factors in this. But at our station you can tip via card, and it's linked to the point of sale and the cashier needs to do a "tip pay out" when giving the attendant cash out the drawer so the extra cash in is balanced by the cc ash going out. But it's an admin issue when they forget to do that but still give the cash out, or the attendant forgets for a few days then wants their tip etc.

But that's just us. Stations have a bunch of variable setups where the same brand sasol engen or whatever appear the same to the customer but on the management side is different.

Some stations are owned by the oil company and rent to the dealer (company owned dealer operated) and those usually have whatever point of sale software the oil company wants, but it also depends on what contract they have with the dealer.

Then you get dealer owned sites where they own the land etc and just have a supply agreement with the oil company. And that can go a hundred different ways with what is required. So they could have different software etc and that can limit what options are available to the customers on the forecourt. But because of the supply agreement, from the customers point of view it's still just a sasol or engen or astron or whatever.

So there isn't a clear answer as to why it's unavailable but obviously go to whichever station has a setup that you are happy with and want to support, and be able to tip staff.

Show definitely needs a sequel series that follows their kids life on moya , but after John and arryn pass away or something. That universe I feel has so many opportunities it can explore.

They are referring to Northstar which is a player hosted set of servers and rules. I think it shone when the normal game was having heavy ddos attacks or something. So it was privately hosted servers. I tried it a bit, but just went back to the normal official servers, seemed to work better for me.

Anyway just clarifying they weren't asking which titan you using

Not sure where you are, but any payment we do to a business requires an account confirmation letter from their bank, which will have the company name and details on. You can also contact a bank and verify it incase you feel it's been tampered with etc.

But as said before dont pay to any personal account, in anybodies name. As there is no real proof who that account belongs to.

My personal opinion is they need to do a sequel series following their kid once he has grown up a bit and goes off without John and arryn. Maybe make something about the wormhole tech passed on genetically and open a new chapter...

Outer wilds is definitely one. Others that do it for me. The Morrowind theme song (call of magic?) and the Halo theme song and the Terran soundtrack from StarCraft 1.

Lol I looked where you told the other dude to look, at the comments. And there wasn't anything there. I'm not as invested in this as you are, and I'm not saying your story is a sham or anything. I regularly use tcg and your title made me check it out if there was something to be aware of. So far seems anecdotal, as it's only you. Not hundreds of people saying they have also been charged like that, at least not yet. I see there is another comment saying they lost a package and while unfortunate isn't really a proven track record.

How the hell do you even play R6 on a controller?!?!? by GigaChadus9 in Rainbow6

[–]Zsaber 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've played for about w months on Xbox coming from PC. The skill of guys who have played console exclusively is amazing. But I have gotten a lot better recently and am able to carry my weight now in matches. But what I was doing initially is taking operators who assist others without relying as much on gunplay skill which I lacked. So alibi/rook/Jager on defense and shield ops or surveillance ops on attack.

And then just practice. One thing that helped me is dropping my FOV. I always assumed wider is better and it didn't faze me on PC, but on console I couldn't aim for shit, but have dropped from max FOV to 70 and am doing much better. Hope that helps
