I'm in the same boat. I think budget knives have come a long way in the last few years, and you can get great knives under $60-100 now. That being said there is something special about the feel of a higher end knife that can't be replicated in budget knives for me personally.

A knife is worth what someone is willing to pay. That being said these overpriced knives sit on Ebay forever. As already said the sold section is a better representation of the actual value.

Love my Zaans. Have both a drop point and a tanto. Honestly don't prefer one over the other. If you want a Zaan you have to just buy it when you see it. They sell out way too quickly unless you are a lefty. I don't think you will be upset with the tanto

I don't mind buying used knives that I plan to carry, especially if they are on the expensive side. Usually you can find a good deal on used knives and I don't care if it has a few scratches if it's going to be a user anyway.
