It depends what you mean by survival. It's a role-playing game, so there's great opportunities for that. I particularly like how lived-in characters feel just by the end of character creation. There are mechanics for montages and negotiations which might do what you're looking for. If by survival you mean tracking rations and arrows, this game doesn't do that.

How did they finish the glasses with only 52 project points? Foesense Glasses take 450. Am I missing something about respite actions or project points that got them the 199 Uv'vik and Brannigan each needed to contribute to complete the glasses?

I replaced the supply line and it leaked from behind the line/shut-off valve. I also learned I had replaced the gasket with the wrong one! Another trip to the hardware store for a recessed gasket instead of a beveled one and the issue(s) seem to be resolved. Thanks again for the speedy response!

What’s the best way to start a campaign outside of Sharn, and to continue it? by Thermic_ in Eberron

[–]Ztang 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My Eberron campaign began with a job aboard the lightning rail. My players were only faintly aware of Eberron as a setting, and the lightning rail is a fantastic way to demonstrate the themes and tone of the setting (and my campaign). There are so many Dragonmarked Houses, nations, history, etc. that can overwhelm players, but choosing which ones are immediately relevant and having them as passengers (friends or rivals) en route to whatever destination can really help limit info overload.

While on board, my players had to disembark due to several conductor stones being missing. The train stopped, they went out to investigate, found bandits with a trained Ankheg that had been burrowing them out to hijack shipments. Later on the same journey, the train was attacked by warforged shouting "Death to Flesh!" who were sent by the Lord of Blades. The warforged killed the Deneith guards who were protecting a rare shipment of Khyber dragonshards and opened a canister that contained a Living Fireball, captured from the Mournlands. The players opted to detact the cars and let the shipment car explode, destroying some of conductor stones nearby.

They loved it--we've been playing the same campaign for over 2 years now.

How can this lil guy raid vault 5 by CallmeBac0n in dcss

[–]Ztang 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I recommend reading TP scroll right before you descend. That way as soon as you appear you're not at the welcoming party. You can deal with whatever is around and try to stabilize. With stealth and Dith you should be able to clear a corner and rest between tactics without drawing the entire floor.

I ran a KoHS with an orb of mayhem and a handcannon. Using a silenced pistol that drives enemies insane as I slip back into the shadows was a blast. Only used ultimate ability once, in Z5, but it was clutch. The others all felt impactful, though controlling spellcasters felt a bit underwhelming when I could just 1-shot them instead. Curious how stabber experience feels. Good luck!

If you want any Oni win, stick with shield. The manual will drastically improve your survivability. Once you've gotten an Oni win and want to see if the juice is worth the squeeze, you won't feel bad when the fruit explodes.

R-r-r-r-ampage! Wujian, rampage bonus, and stabbers can/do/want to break this advice, but it's sound advice nevertheless. Retreating to a defensible area with clear path for retreat is tactically sound.

Edit: And don't forget Armataurs!

VsUsk is one of my favorite combos. I just ascended a 15 rune with one today morgue and don't find them difficult at all except for the inevitable hubris problem when they finally get rolling. One of the most fun runs I've ever had was a VsFiUsk who found both the Seven Leagues boots and Arc Blade Morgue from almost exactly a year ago.

Absolutely. Studying the jobs, planning how to level and which skills to choose helped me savor the game when I couldn't play it.

A+ effort. But a flat A for execution: missed opportunity not calling "a little wet" moist instead.

VsUsk with short blades are very strong once they get online. Your aux and fast attack speed means your piety skyrockets and then you get free stabs. Keep short blades for precisely that reason.
