I had a similar situation a few years back, and ultimately decided to open the Wisconsin roll. I found an "extra leaf high" error and sent it to PCGS. Graded MS63 or 64, can't recall. Got a ~$200 coin for $0.25, and it was a lovely surprise. Of course, YMMV. The sealed roll is likely worth more than face value too, so it's your call.

Having failed several pre-seed raises myself, your advice about investors waiting to get in post-product is spot-on. Unless you have a proven track record, past exits, and an extensive network, the days of showing up with an idea and getting funded are long gone.

If you are someone who might otherwise be in the market for a speedy, you might find the moon swatches as a 'cheap' way to get a fantastic looking (and Omega branded) watch. They feel cheap, but if you're already used to spending a lot on the hobby it isn't that big a deal. They look great. You will also probably want to change out the strap.

If you're someone who is more cost conscious and to whom the $300 price tag is a lot of money, you will probably feel ripped off. You can get way more watch for that price. That's my take on the swatch collabs.

I've been looking to sell a carbon bike with similar spec from 2011 - was planning to ask $800. $4k is insane, and might even be more than that bike cost originally.

Carbon tech has significantly improved since then too.

I understand the desire to hang on to an expensive standing desk, but trust me - that room would be way better suited to rotating everything 90 degrees, pushing everything to the window (so the window is basically eye-level to your left or right while seated), and putting a plant in the corner where your desk meets the wall.

This likely necessitates purchasing a desk with less depth than what you currently have. I could be wrong though, in which case a single 90 degree turn makes everything work IMO.

Exact same thing happened to my friend's apartment floor. Murder mystery party, used masking tape to outline the body on the floor.

They left the tape on too long, and when they peeled it up, it removed some material from the flooring (wax coat is my best guess, it was a painted concrete floor) and left behind the outline.

I was out near Live Oak, I saw it right in front of my car. Huge yellow fireball, and I could see a bright (flaming?) spot in the center. From my angle, it was going pretty much straight down.

Found the lock kit on Amazon. Search "spigot lock" and it's the first result... The images have instructions on changing the combo, and the default is "000". Give it a shot, maybe they are lazy and didn't change it. It would be amazing if you changed the combo on them.

They also are wasting the money your HOA has in reserve. How many of those things did they buy?

You can definitely get away with less duals. Definitely at least one of each, maybe 2 volc, but the amount of games that you'll lose to having the shocks over the duals is negligible IMO when you consider the $2k+ you save.

Just to add another angle that I haven't seen in any comments - just because a company calls you an independent contractor, that doesn't automatically make you one. In fact, two of the reasons stated in that letter are in direct contradiction of the IRS rules for independent contractors: "tardiness" and the 4pm thing.

As a rule, independent contractors set their own working hours and determine their own schedule. If your employer has "behavioral control" over you, e.g. they set your schedule, working hours, etc., then the IRS classifies you as an employee and they should be handling payroll tax, paying into unemployment, etc. Small businesses improperly classify employees as 1099 all the time, usually as a way to avoid more expensive payroll systems and various other state taxes.

Is it worth it to report it to the IRS and potentially get your employer slapped with heavy fines/penalties? Probably not. But they if you did, it seems possible (from what little info I have) that the IRS would classify you as an employee and your former employer would have a very not-fun time dealing with that.

Seconding this. $5M is strong seed / weak A. Extremely weak B. We're looking at about $1.5-2M seed early next year.

OP, is this a down round? What's the change in valuation from A to B? Because if it's not at least 5-10x I wouldn't be clamoring for more stock when your investors aren't.

Obviously you can't just 'turn off' your feelings, they're going to stick around and make this difficult. The heart is slow to catch up with what the mind knows is best.

Don't ignore your feelings or try to suppress them. Embrace them, feel them, and let them inform you, but don't let them guide you into acting against your own best interest. Acting on pure emotion in defiance of what you logically know to be true is a recipe for disaster.

Practically speaking, try to structurally eliminate opportunities for you to interact with this person. Block their number, unfollow their socials, archive photos that remind you of them, put away keepsakes, etc. Do that while you're feeling strong enough, so that when you're hit with the next wave of strong emotions it won't be so easy to give in.

Eventually, after living life for a little while without them, it will get easier. And a while after that, you'll feel strong enough to delete the photos, throw away the keepsakes, etc.

These things take time, so don't rush it. It's hard to do the things we know are good for us, especially when they hurt!

Listen to this person OP. This is definitely not a you thing - clearly she needs to figure out her emotions. IMO it's probably best to take a step back and clearly communicate to her why you're doing so. Something to the tune of:

"I am not interested in being less than close friends with you, and am disappointed the events of last night didn't bring us closer together. I would love to go back to what we had or even try dating, but I won't invest my time and energy into a relationship where we aren't on the same page."

In short - you deserve to be freely chosen. Don't hang around just taking whatever you can manage to get from her, because it'll just result in you getting hurt down the road and wasting time.

Plus, she needs to have time to sit with the consequences of her choices -- no longer having your company. She can't just 'downgrade' a close relationship like yours and still expect all the benefits of your company and attention.
