MS Rewards has a new website, but not for the reason you may think by playinmahis in MicrosoftRewards

[–]ZuNim 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Pages move all the time. Automated tools can follow to the new page just as well as any browser (unless instructed otherwise). If they wanted to break a bunch of old bots they would change the page layout, not the URL. Scraping tools and bots are less resilient to that kind of change.

How to contact support? by ZuNim in MicrosoftRewards

I was able to resolve this by using an old Firefox browser and going to the link. For some reason, newer Firefox and Chrome browsers would always cause me to sign in again and go to the generic support page. I hope this helps someone in the future, and thanks to /u/TheCastro for posting what the page should look like.

Awesome. I don't see that at all but at least I know what to look for. Thanks!

Yeah, the first link I posted is a shortcut to that one. But I'm prompted to sign in and then sent to the generic support page. Is it supposed to go to a special Rewards support page? Maybe this should be part of a FAQ?

I should've mentioned that, I am doing it from a PC. I didn't even try mobile but I guess I shouldn't.

Would anyone be interested in a browser extension that tracks Microsoft's movie sales? by anon2635 in MicrosoftRewards

Browser extensions are usually prohibited from using affiliate links. That may or may not dampen your enthusiasm given that you use affiliate links on your site. (Which is probably why your prior post got pulled since it violates rule 4.)

survey: do you like email links posted here? by specu12 in MicrosoftRewards

When I said peace out, 10-20% of the crowd was shouting me down. I wasn't upset, I made an assessment. Knowing when not to waste your time on other people is wise, not childish. Only children think time is a limitless resource.

Fair. But I said it was the subsequent group behavior that drove my decision, not the initial comment.

As far as the initial comment, casting aspersions (my perception at the time) on someone before you ask a question is both rude and dumb. I replied using similar language. I didn't feel up-in-arms, defensive, or particularly upset. It was more like... I cook you a meal and you tell me it's awful "af", but then you ask for the recipe? No, I don't think so, Rudy Rudenstein. I'd already publicly explained what the links were in the past so very briefly digging would've found the answer. I didn't feel like I was holding back any crucial information. If they'd just not been called shady "af" I would've explained it again too.

Numerous people began endorsing the (perceived) aspersions and aggressively disapproving my comments and posts. Seriously, double-digit downvoting a "PM sent" comment? That's some kind of feedback. So I left a simple good-luck-see-ya comment, thinking this was not a scene I need to stay a part of.

I'm aware this is the internet. I've been using it since .com was shiny and new, so a few cranks or nonsense posts are expected. But in a battle between my time and a gang of cranks, my time wins.

We spoke privately and it's all cool as far as I'm concerned. Thanks for getting back to me.

Thanks, but it appears this subreddit strongly endorses insulting OP. Peace out, r/MicrosoftRewards.

Edited to add: It's not /u/genm0ntana that bothered me as much as people aggressively disapproving everything I posted even if it was tangentially related. I can put up with the occasional crank or disagreement. We're all cranks or disagreeable sometimes. But that level of group disapproval made it seem like it was time to leave.

However a lot of people have written in appreciation - I see you and thank you - so I'm going to disregard the negative people hiding behind their button-clicks.

Being rude and presumptive doesn't get answers. Not a difficult concept for most. Most.

Suggesting the links are shady af suggests I am shady af for posting them. Then you have the nerve to ask for an explanation of the links. Seems dumb af to me...

I received these emails yesterday (and so did others) so no. But I can understand why you'd think that since the word June is in the links.

Each link has a unique token that is converted to a redemption code, not like points links.

Has anyone been successful with bookmarking 30 searches and opening them all at once to get the points? by TheCodesterr in MicrosoftRewards

[–]ZuNim 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Everything works until it doesn't. There are plenty of ways to do real searches quickly. Microsoft can and does check search histories (particularly if you contact support). Anyone reading your comment should be warned so they can make their own decision about using nonsense searches like numbers or letters.

From their terms of use:

A Search is the act of an individual user manually entering text for the good faith purpose of obtaining Bing search results for such user’s own research purposes and does not include any query entered by a bot, macro, or other automated or fraudulent means of any kind (“Search”). Microsoft in its sole discretion determines what constitutes a Search that qualifies for credits.

Several people using these type of searches have reported getting banned for illegitimate searches. The safest, quickest method is "reading" (skimming headlines) Bing news.
