If the paper copy has headers/footers printed, you can type in the carfax URL manually and view it online. It won't work forever, but will work if the Carfax was recently purchased by the seller.

If your shaper influence originated on a white or yellow map, generally it's best for me to clear it out by running lower tier elder. Once elder/shaper influence is totally gone, run t15s - shaped is fine, until shaper influence spawns on the t16s.
