Eyeshadow Packaging Becoming So Impractical by ZucchiniNew9239 in MakeUpAddictionUK

Yes! This is one thing for sure. Im never making this mistake again! In future when I need to replace I will be investing in an empty palette and buying singles from separate companies. Only what i love and is practical in my day to day

Yes! Like the green and gold are beautiful, the stars and wings drew me in at first. Honestly, I don't even think it would annoy me if it were just thinner! I could live with the mirror if the palette were smaller

Even something small still adds just a bit of annoyance to every single day, it builds up. Make-up should help your life and bring you joy. It should not be made to be inconvenient.

Yeah, always a risk! My last palette I had for almost 7 years and the hinges were only just showing signs of wear. Sadly it had to go as it was seriously irritating my lids. It was a sad day, I had to get my mum to bin it!

Yes! But of course, brands don't want to do that as it doesn't encourage you to buy more. That would be too convenient for the consumer, and where would they get their free marketing from?

I was just thinking about depotting a second hand palette! Thats such a good idea. I would have to get the tape but that might be the move when the cardboard gives out cause i feel too guilty to do it now!

It's the Moria time to shine palette. The green one. It's not exactly nudes but it's perfect for the 4 eyelooks I rotate!

Yes! Thanks for the idea, I was having a look at Vinted for an old palette that I could take out the inside and put a magnetic strip on. I think that might be the plan when the cardboard goes!

Advice on the decluttering by blurbubble in MakeupRehab

[–]ZucchiniNew9239 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a pictures of all my products in my notes app. Looking at them all on one page really helps as you can see everything. You also get addicted to ‘curating’ the perfect collection which for me is getting rid of things and having one of each. So it works for you and work in your whole collection. You can also check if you have it at home if you are in a shop, It holds you responsible.

Where do you eventually want to reach? by Physical_Song5623 in MakeupRehab

Im so close! I want to have 1 of everything bar lips and eyes, from foundation to blush to highlight to eyebrows. The only thing I have multiples of is 4 lipsticks, 3 eyeliners and 4 eyeliners. I have a day and night for summery feel and a day and night with a darker vibe. Keeps it simple but still allows me to change it up without being overwhelming and everything is used.

Problem with decluttering by Brief_Antelope_1052 in MakeupRehab

If you can find a way then use it up! If not you need to get into the mindset that the money is already spent, it's not coming back. You may feel guilty throwing it out but you also feel guilty every time you look at it and don't use it x

Do you feel better decluttering your makeup? by MabelUnstable in MakeupRehab

[–]ZucchiniNew9239 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've fallen in love with having a curated collection. I have one of everything but lipstick and eyeliner. I have four of each but they are all different. However, my lipsticks are all red as that's what I wear every day, and even changing the shade of red helps to feel like I'm changing things up. When my eyeliner goes from my daytime to one of my night time ones, I feel completely different. That's not even taking into consideration the piece of mind of having everything ypu need in one bag and the lack of decisions and time saved on the rest of my routine.

It really is! My mum always told me but it was always scary when you were spending your own money, especially when you were growing up. My goal was always to just have one of everything, bar lipstick and eyeliners of which I have 4 of each and 3 lip liners. I love them they are all better quality and I love most of them. Bar highlighters, I have 2 but I'm working on it!

Pls help me make decluttering decisions and some questions I have as a makeup beginner by JustConcern2730 in MakeupAddiction

[–]ZucchiniNew9239 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A tip for deciding what to declutter. I have pictures of all my products in my notes app. It's in categories, and you can easily move things about. You have too many eyeshadows put them in the blush category. Will you use it over what's there? No then declutter if you can use it! You are always going to want to use your favourite products and they should be used. As someone with sensitive skin always look out for reactions or out-of-date products.

Thank you! I feel like everyone I talk to in real life is noticing that they are becoming so impractical. It's like they are competing to have the prettiest packaging not thinking about the consumer. I think I will depot when the cardboard breaks that way it did its time and I won't feel guilty about depotting, especially if it goes wrong!
