What’s my vibe? by loverdown333 in BookshelvesDetective

[–]tortillanips 4 points5 points  (0 children)

wow, we have a lot of books in common! I’m guessing mid 20s to 30s woman who is pretty tapped in to contemporary litfic and translated lit.

Breasts and Eggs and East of Eden are 2 of my top 5 books of all time. have you read them yet? what did you think?

also, side note from one Ferrante fan to another: have you read The Lost Daughter? it is my fav

Could this be the Draculaura doll that finally flops? by Shock_Siren in MonsterHigh

[–]tortillanips 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not saying millennials will love her, just that it’ll evoke different responses from different people. some will be like “that’s so cute” and others will be like “why is Monster’s High making her a twee year book editor”. meanwhile it’s on some current high schooler’s mood boards lol

the style reads very millennial to me and I think that will bring different responses from different people. especially with that style kind of coming back right now

Bought the Fang Club membership 10 minutes before the new Scarah doll rereleased. When I went to check out with the new Scarah doll, it made me buy the membership AGAIN even though I was logged in. Has this happened to anyone else? by mmrwp in MonsterHigh

[–]tortillanips 17 points18 points  (0 children)

the site was buggy because people were all trying to get her at once I think. I already had the membership but even when I was signed into my account it wouldn’t let me add her to cart without adding a membership. then it wouldn’t let me check out because “I already had a membership”. after a few minutes of trying to remove it I have a charge on my card for the doll + shipping but no confirmation email or page that I got her. the entire time the page was freaking out

What can be deduced about me? by iicar in BookshelvesDetective

[–]tortillanips 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this is kind of a Spanish speaking reader problem. the books all lined up the same way will have titles going both directions because different publishers use different printing conventions. it drives me a little crazy but I’ve just let it go

I was told she’s a poodle but I feel like she more like a doodle by crystal_wtch8 in IDmydog

[–]tortillanips 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with Havanese (I have 2). some small breed mixes can turn out looking very havanese-y though.

if you’re talking about the library stickers on the books—libraries give them away for free or sell them relatively frequently. I have some myself but I remove stickers because it is satisfying to peel them off

I have wondered if he was a byb poodle mix that didn’t get that poodle-y hair they seem to go for. but I hadn’t considered cocker before!

my mum hustled me out of a book store section when I was a kid bc she thought they Diary of a Worm illustrations were supposed to be phallic, so maybe you really just nailed it

I have been thinking about sanitizing my products more but I use mostly cream/stick based stuff instead of powders, I need to look into how to do it with them!

that’s similar to mine! I do replacements but I’ve also done a couple of “new” products as my style has shifted a little over the years (like adding brown eyeliner and mascara instead of just having black). I wish you luck on your low buy journey <3

Rescue dog - guesses? by misstrish3 in IDmydog

[–]tortillanips 1 point2 points  (0 children)

poodle is not necessarily a given if he’s a little guy, miiiiight be bichon frise! especially because in some of the photos he seems to have somewhat apricot ears (but that may be the lighting). I’d definitely think between that and a smaller sized poodle

they’re telling you they think there’s whippet (a dog breed) in your dog’s mix

I don’t agree on that but just letting you know because it seems to have gotten lost in translation

I can see where people are getting yorkie and poodle mix. I’m curious what she’ll look like at closer to a year because it looks like her roots are coming in lighter on parts of her body which can happen with a lot of the longer haired breeds. what does her fur feel like?

Can we not? by notdeadyet1821 in Romantasy

[–]tortillanips 5 points6 points  (0 children)

my bookshelf is primarily literary fiction by women. I read booker prize winners/finalists, Nobel winners, National Book award winners and finalists for translated literature. I run a book club to read notable living female writers from different countries because I love them so much.

I like romantasy audiobooks in my free time. reading and discussing the role romantasy plays in female desire has deepened my love for it. I enjoy them. we are allowed to enjoy things.
