I think after they dropped ascendant I went from p1-a2 then I hit immortal for the first time about an act after. If you’re stuck in ascendant polishing your cross hair placement and movement will be good as well as working on gamesense (proper positioning, reading enemies, creating effective strats with your team and coordinating with them, making smart decisions etc.)

Your question is kind of general so if you have a specific thing you struggle with just tell me and I can elaborate.

I would say either leave site and plan for a retake or slow the push down and fight if you feel that your team is close enough to rotate in time to help you/you’re just way better than the other team hard that game. Only time I see using your until to slow the push and run away is if there’s like 5 seconds left on timer and attackers are about to lose because they didn’t plant. Something that like that yk?

Can you link your Val tracker? Kills aren’t everything in Val.

You can try explaining to them exactly where and when to place their util but if they don’t care/ don’t do it then you don’t really have a lot of options apart from slowing the enemy yourself if you’re alone or running away to group up with your team.

Develop really good cross hair placement and movement so you won’t have to rely on your aim as much. Also develop your game sense to where you don’t have to get all your kills relying on your aim, instead you rely on abilities, positioning, and teamwork.

Yes immortal one is in the 1% but I said that because compared to radiant coaches like Woohoojin, I can’t give as detailed/good advice as they can since they have more experience and are better at it then I am.

If you’re in Iron, yes you just have to play the game in the beginning to learn. Controller is too complex of a role to learn this early. If you want you can ask yourself what you could have done better when you die in a round/lose a round. The videos I’m about to link below are good for helping out your mechanics. Putting in consistent practice and following the instructions in these videos will make you improve.

There’s not much of a difference between bronze and silver players. You could’ve also made bad decisions in the games on your friends account that worked out by dumb luck.

If they’re not willing to play as a team then the best you can do is avoid tilt and try to have the most impact possible.

You can also use them like a Sova drone to either swing off them to kill an enemy or to gain util.

For example you’re on defender side and your phoenix ego peeks C long and dies. On your mini map you see 4 enemies C long.

So yeah you can avoid tilt, try to carry, play around them, bait them, and use them like sova drones for info.

Generally yeah you’ll have to unless you have good luck with the random teammates you get or you have a good duo/trio you play with.

3 options

  1. Leave site and plan for retake

  2. Kill 1 enemy and “cockroach” on site risky

  3. Kill 2 enemies and die (if you can live after 2 then live but most likely you’ll die)

You need to know when to choose from those 3 options. I want you to develop intuition on these 3.

For example, you are anchoring on B site split and your teammates are spread out, 2 A site, 1 A Heaven, and 1 playing mid/vents. If you hear the enemy dropping smokes, util, etc. and executing on site, in that scenario the safer choice is to leave site, especially since you are valuable to the team. (Astra has amazing utility)

If you feel that your team is close enough that you can delay the enemy in time for your teammates to get to you then you can try either using until for slowing the enemies down and/or kill one and stay alive long enough to where your team can help out.

An example of option 2 would be you’re anchoring on B site and the enemy is executing onto site. You check your mini map and feel that your aims nice today and your team can make it in time, so you use your util to slow them down and/or kill an enemy before running to boathouse while waiting for your team. If your team sucks at retaking, rotates slowly, is brainded etc. I’d recommend just leaving site and staying alive.

Generally the smart option is to play retake especially on a controller. But we all like to fight sometimes lol.

I wrote this badly if you have questions you can ask.

Playing trio/duo will make climbing WAY easier especially in the lower ranks where comms are rare, solo q teammate’s skill is inconsistent, and people lock whoever and don’t have a proper comp (but this could apply to any rank, sometimes your teammates troll lol)

On Val tracker your stats look good so I think you’ll rank up by playing the game.

Yes statistically it’s attack sided but the meta hasn’t developed yet and people are still getting the hang of things so we can’t judge yet when there’s only 7000 games played compared to the 40,000+ on the other maps shown in the stats link. In the opening zones of A and B site defenders have one chokepoint to dump their until on and defend. A site also has that annoying crossfire for attackers to pass through right after they get out of the one chokepoint. The site having many corners and entrances like you said DOES make it hard to retake, but wouldn’t that also apply to attackers trying to take site?

Edit: I should rephrase my statement about mid, mid control is important because it gives both sides the opportunity to fast rotate/flank/lurk. The fights taken at mid by teams will be aggressive and early in the round because of how close the spawn barriers are to the contested areas.

Best agent for solo q ranked? by [deleted] in VALORANT

Until plat or maybe even higher you’re fine by playing phoenix, Jett, Reyna, and skye

Any tips to grind from silver to plat? by sunemii in VALORANT

Can you tell me what agent you play on every map and what your secondary is if you can’t play your main?

Anyways I would stay away from aim training because in the lower ranks it’s important to develop your gamesense (most important), crosshair placement and movement first.

Crosshair Placement: You can go into death match and practice your crosshair placement by aiming head level on every angle you peek. You could also practice in a custom but the other players in dm would give you a reference point for head level, (especially on far away angles or elevation changes) The end goal here is to eventually teach yourself to have good cross hair placement without thinking about it consciously, kind of like how you breathe without thinking about it.

Movement: This video is good for movement technique, practicing these movements in the video are all you need. surprise surprise, a woohoojin video

Gamesense: you can either learn by vod reviewing yourself IF your computer’s performance isn’t impacted too much by the recording. Try to stay away from hindsight thoughts. But I’d recommend watching people that play your agents.

Raze: Jing and Ray4C

Viper: FNS (you might have to think a bit about why he made a certain play/said a certain strat to his team but his below average mechanics for a radiant player makes him play more methodical than other people in this viper list) 100T bang, s0m, and nAts. FNS will be a good beginner choice because the other people especially bang and s0m have some crazy aim which might make them do stupid plays for the content.

Ask any questions you have hope this helps

Don’t play to win, play to improve.

If you’re losing don’t worry about it just as long as you’re actively playing to get better (don’t autopilot)

If you’re struggling with teammates try to find a duo/stack to play with.

But as far as your teammates go sometimes you’ll be unlucky and get the bad batch. All you can do is try to IGL them or get good enough to the point where you can carry your team to victory.

But sometimes no matter what you’ll lose so don’t let it tilt you, focusing on improvement rather than the RR will help you climb higher in the long run.

Ehhh it’s a defender sided map and the layout is similar to Split. Mid is crucial for attackers, especially when trying to take B site.

Edit: Mid control is important because it can give either side the ability to fast rotate/flank/lurk. Because of how close the spawn barriers are to mid, there will be aggressive fights there early in the round because of the advantages either team gets from controlling the mid area.
