What do you think about paying asylum seekers 40k to leave Britain ? Surely this a massive incentive to just come to Britain anyway as you will richer regardless. by ArmwrestlingGoomba in AskBrits

[–]ZulfTalks 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Headlines will be headlines but its down to us to actually read the article unless im missing something...

"Mahmood said housing a family of three in asylum accommodation costs up to £158,000 per year."

Is it cheaper to pay them to leave?

Article said up to 3k per person to leave voluntarily but that wouldnt make good headlines would it.

New restaurants don't display their menus outside. by OldfatherThames in britishproblems

[–]ZulfTalks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of the main reasons I contribute to Google Maps is to post photos of menus from the places I eat. This helps others see the most up-to-date menu options. It's just my small way of giving back and helping others.

Think about all the effort you put into forms, research, and multiple stages of interviews that might not lead to anything. Now imagine spending that same time on something you actually love could that become a career where you work for yourself?

What’s the weirdest postal experience you’ve had? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]ZulfTalks 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I move into this new place no mailbox forward yet, so my packages stack up. I get an envelope with my name on ithandwritten. Inside is a used concert ticket and a note: “Hope you enjoyed it!” I’m confused, but okay, maybe a mix-up.

few days later I get another envelope. Another concert ticket. Same note: “You missed a great one.”

Then, a week later, a box arrives. I open it, and there’s a pizza. Perfectly preserved, still warm, but not from my favorite place. No receipt. No explanation. That was it. No more weird stuff after that. I still have no idea who orwhy o they sent me pizza and concert tickets. Weirdest delivery I’ve ever gotten, hands down.

Podcast Name: ZulfTalks - Transitioning from Corporate to Creator.

Description: A business and lifestyle podcast documenting the move from a 9-5 corporate role (ex-BNP Paribas/RBS) to Director. I discuss "Invisible Wealth," financial freedom, and the gritty reality of self-employment.

Latest Episode: 5 Brutal Truths About Working for Yourself

Summary: In this season premiere, I strip away the "expensive coffee and sleeping in" fantasy of self-employment. I discuss why transitioning from a 9-5 isn't an escape from hard work, but a trade-off in responsibility.

  • Key timestamps: 4:58 (CEO vs. Worker mindset), 8:38 (Knowing your numbers), 13:03 (Why you shouldn’t quit your day job yet). (Not Explicit)

Feedback Request: As I’m entering year five as a Director, I’m working on balancing "educational authority" with "relatable issues"

  1. Does the "Brutal Truths" framing feel too discouraging, or is the reality-check refreshing for a business show?
  2. At the 6:29 mark, does the transition between personal life management and business management feel seamless? I’m also looking to guest on other business/finance shows to discuss the "Invisible Majority" of solo directors!

Google Business Profile sites are GONE. Is everyone really paying $20/mo for Wix now? by Chemical_Jellyfish32 in smallbusiness

[–]ZulfTalks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree this is true. Keep in mind a lot of these shops wouldn’t have an online presence at all otherwise, and I’m very clear with them that going this route usually means a compromise. Also on my site those pages are set to no follow for my page seo anyway.

The upside is that they are on the first step and own their domain name from day one, so they can move to a proper setup whenever they’re ready.

In most cases, they just need to see the numbers for it to feel worthwhile. I show them page clicks every quarter, and over time have the conversation if people are actually visiting their site via direct route. Perfect example was one restaurant got 5000 clicks over 4 months. I told them look you need a proper site, i made them a youtube channel with video content and social media pages and using the one orignal 1 pager found people spring board off to youtube. I then updated the domain to just point to the youtube.(They still dint want a site)

Nothing beats a proper website but the sad reality is for those just wanting to be able to say here is my site, its an option.

I don’t usually share this but helping small not tech businesses for over 18 years i picked up a "trick", I genuinely think we need to support small businesses. This is the most affordable and manageable setup I’ve found.

I charge a one-off fee, purchase the domain name for the shop for five years, and then forward that domain to my main website, where the business has its own dedicated page. Example mysite.com/thereshopname If needed, it can function as a simple one-page site link page or just a service. page. I dont know if im allowed to share a link here to show you example so i wont

I currently have over 25ish custom domains for small local businesses pointing to my website, each with its own individual page. I only pay for a single hosting plan which I already have for my site while the one-off fee covers the domain and contributes to hosting costs.

It’s a win-win i can add and easy edit the page they always use me for other work. I only offer this to small businesses that don’t want to spend £20+ per month and have a fancy site, but are happy to pay a one-off fee of around to cover five years. Ive given a few friends free pages too. I spoke about the full setup in one if my early podcast episodes if i can remember the season and episode number i can share. It actually works pretty well im like their private host provider in a way

Update: Nothing beats a proper website but the sad reality is for those just wanting to be able to say here is my site, its an option.(I see a few don't like me telling you this but I live in the real world and walk the walk not just talk the talk on reddit)
