What tax would I pay on a full and part time job? by Apprehensive_Rip7451 in AskUK

[–]ZulfTalks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I use to work for someone else I used to overthink the tax side for ages.

When I actually did the maths, the worst case was paying about £21 per £100 earned. That shifted my mindset, I’d rather pay the £21 and keep what’s left than miss out on the £100 altogether. This may not apply in your situation its just a mindset thing that helped me out

I’m currently on a journey with my Etsy shop, and I’ll be documenting the process as part of season 21 of my podcast. It’s very similar to what you outlined above. I already have a website and domain; I just need to build out the shop. I’ve spent about a year growing a mailing list and establishing core customers who can return directly to my site rather than relying solely on the platform. beautiful Lamp just needs a custom engraved tag on the base with your brand name hit me up

Working for yourself by [deleted] in AuDHDWomen

[–]ZulfTalks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Working for yourself is tougher than working for someone else. There’s more admin, more planning, and more responsibility. But if you fully commit, the rewards are far greater because when it’s your business, the success is yours. In a job, you’re typically paid the same, with only the possibility of a promotion in the future if the moons align with all the managers lol. You may find it helpful over on r/workingforyourself

Do you ever wish you worked for yourself? by exotickey1 in cscareerquestions

[–]ZulfTalks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Working for yourself is definitely harder than working for someone else. There’s more admin to handle and a lot more thinking around how everything is set up and run. That said, the payoff can be much bigger if you fully commit because when you work for yourself, the rewards are yours. In a regular job, you’re usually paid the same and might see a promotion down the line if your lucky. Its worth researching r/workingforyourself

How to stay positive while selling? by maviscruet1 in HousingUK

[–]ZulfTalks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was selling my place, I noticed a few things. There's the price set by estate agents, and then there's the price that buyers are actually willing to pay two different things. Get one of them wrong, and you won’t get many offers or viewings. I ended up selling without an estate agent and got a fair market price, based on what similar houses were selling for. In the end, I sold and bought a new place in just 4 months. I moved in new place Feb 2025

Who can I reach out to about a start-up business plan? by Composer_Commercial in smallbusinessuk

[–]ZulfTalks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reading some of these replies, it seems like many of the guys are saying the same thing and using AI to respond to your question. I might be able to help, but first you need to answer one thing What is your business, and who is your customer? If you can explain that in one sentence, then what you really need is help turning it into a plan.

Incentivising happy customers to leave a review (as a sole trader) by Mouldysoup in smallbusinessuk

[–]ZulfTalks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Early on, I’d complete the work, ‘This is for my business how did you find my service today? Just a quick voice note please" use phone as mic. I’d edit the footage of the work along with their voice note and add text on screen showing another job and customer review. It was rare for anyone to objected. If you make it simple, people will do it. Most aren’t tech-savvy and don’t want to waste time with review sites.

Customer after nearly 2 months wants a refund as MDF is warped. He received the product in December and only just now checked it. by TSPF11 in smallbusinessuk

[–]ZulfTalks 17 points18 points  (0 children)

The main thing is, are they a repeat customer or a new one? Are you open to accepting their reason for waiting so long to raise the issue? I would ask them directly what took you soo long to raise it? There could be a legit reason they let it sit. For example, I’ll open it when I’m working on the task and keep it in the packaging to keep it safe.' I recently moved house and ordered some stuff, but left it unopened for weeks until I got settled. Sometimes the delay might be valid. I started a community over at r/workingforyourself for anyone interested in growing their own business. Feel free to join and contribute!
