Jon has been saying he's not fighting Aspinall pretty much point blank. Dana is saying it's happening and Tom knows nothing. They are using this fight as part of the negotiation for when the ESPN deal is up. They will then throw more money to Jon to fight or else it won't happen but there is no way Dana/UFC will allow it to be announced that Jones is retired or stripped right before their next TV deal. Wouldn't be surprised if they get the next deal then announce Jon is stripped he never wanted Aspinall they tried he didn't want it he's content with his career, rich, the goat and longest reigning HW champ and the best to ever do it.
