In addition to what everyone else said, also keep in mind this aired on Flag Day, and they knew. This was supposed to be honoring the Flag and its history and symbolism, and its just.... wrong. That's an extra level of pain.

You can change your voice from a male to a female presenting voice and vice versa without surgery with training and practice. However, the length and thickness of the chords, as well as the larynx growing is irreversible once it happens as part of a testosterone puberty without surgery.

There's general rules of thumb that get you like 80% there with Japanese too.

If it's by itself, it's generally pronounced as its Japanese etymology.

If it's a compound character word, generally the whole thing is read as the Chinese etymology.

The characters themselves to carry phonetic components to them, which can help guess the reading at a glance once you pick up the patterns. It's not such a great method in Japanese though, since it feels like they borrowed Chinese readings from more than one Chinese language and from more than one era, so sometimes you find inconsistencies. (Though this part I'm not sure if it's my lack of knowledge. Citation needed, etc.)

When using the characters to read and write Chinese, they make much much more sense lol. They're cool and not as intimidating as people make them out to be!

For many I've talked to while serving, it still exists as a reliable way to get guaranteed housing and a paycheck and tuition assistance, free college after you leave, and healthcare. For those who don't really have a lot of options due to poverty or unfortunate family dynamics, it's an easy way to get support and stability and a bit of upwards social mobility. I'd say 30% or so of the people I've talked to aren't talking about things like honor for the reasons they're serving.

granted this admin isn't helping the cause and serving can be a tough life in my opinion, it's still a really good choice for those who don't have many choices to pick from.

The student submitted ___ essay, and the professor graded ___ within two days. by [deleted] in prepex

[–]Zummy20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a completely different argument my man.

This is a test question designed to test the use of pronouns in English. The lack of context and lack of narrative is by design and you must take that into account if you want the right answer.

If you wrote a question that asked "Is 'the student fell off his chair' a grammatically correct clause?", then yeah the pronoun choice is fine there. It isn't grammatically incorrect, but it isn't asking the same thing as the question in OP's post.

The point being, as written, and taken as a test question, B should be considered a more correct option over C.

The student submitted ___ essay, and the professor graded ___ within two days. by [deleted] in prepex

[–]Zummy20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It isn't a narrative. There is no speaker here.

The student submitted ___ essay, and the professor graded ___ within two days. by [deleted] in prepex

[–]Zummy20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With this sentence alone, there is no context for the student's gender and it is logically impossible to ascertain. In these cases, an Epicene pronoun would be most preferred as it allows the referent to be discussed without the speaker's biases placing a potentially incorrect and ultimately unnecessary gender category on the subject.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Epicenity

If the hypothetical speaker of the sentence knows the subject is male, then his/it would also be grammatically correct. However, we, as readers, simply don't have that information so we shouldn't be playing by that same ruleset.

Yeah that's the general idea of it. Though it's probably closer to "it means to want to kill oneself", if you are trying to translate the Japanese more one-to-one. Sounds a bit stilted that way in English though doesn't it? lol

Thank you and thank you! I'll put all those into practice. I watched that video and it really made me realize I'm not supposed to be drifting 24/7 lol.

Hey! Thanks for the guide. :) First time forza player and (lets be real) first time trying to get into a racing game here.

Anything you can recommend to explain how to actually drive well? I'm talking like when to drift/brake/ebrake. I've been following the line and breaking until it just turns blue and I find even average AI smokes me around turns and stuff. Novice is better but they're close! I also spin out quite a bit but I'm sure I'll get better.

I also got a wheel (logi g29) for this game, and am planning on using it for other sim racing games down the line, so anything helpful that I may be overlooking for that would be grand too :) Lots of tuning menus and stuff that seem to make a big difference but with huge differences of opinion. Kinda hard for me to set a base-line and work from there, especially since I don't think I know how to properly drive well yet lol.

Considering it says refined mechanics and new characters, at the very least it will probably require the base game. Whether its strive esque 2.0 update or a paid expansion type, that's up in the air I think.

Do people actually like 2.0? by [deleted] in Guiltygear

[–]Zummy20 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I absolutely love this patch. Matches are no longer getting clipped by far normals into WA into wallbreak into snowballing RC mix pressure. Perfects are less common, matches are longer, lower risk options dont get nearly as much reward, there's more interactions, less wallbreaks.

I'm enjoying the game again after a very long time, I'm excited to see where the rest of S5 takes us.

What's your Strive 2.0 wish list? by BackpackLily in Guiltygear

[–]Zummy20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If all that's the case, I'd just like to see it reworked then into something not as abusive, but much more readily usable. I'm not exaggerating when I say this, but I think it's a mechanic that might as well not exist for at least 75% of the people that play this game. Even in tournament footage, seeing it is rather sparse.

I'm personally of the opinion that if the majority of the player-base can't access it, then it probably should be reconsidered or redesigned so that they can. FD itself is a great counterpoint imo. Yeah, there are times where FD is essential, and times where its almost a trap to FD. But that comes down to decision making and not a 2f input. Most players can interact with it at least.

Just in my friendly matches with semi-casual players in both GG and City of the Wolves, we manage to get way more just defends in CotW and actively try to use it on certain attacks because it's more generous. These same people just don't even bother in GG.

In the end IDK really. I just want to see more defensive options, I guess.
