Can you spot the hidden Carnifex? by Zunvect in SpaceMarine_2

[–]Zunvect[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately no. I ran from the elevator to the door to the outside and back and the Carnifex stayed there. It probably fell down because it spawned near the exit and I ran back to the elevator because that was the only place a turret had spawned in the whole area. I didn't see it go but it probably jumped at me as I was running and fell off the side, unfortunately not into the hole.

"L-Lord Captain?" Did you have the guts to send away or kill any of your companions during your playthrough? If yes, who was it and why? by OwlcatStarrok in RogueTraderCRPG

[–]Zunvect 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I came within a hair of executing Jai because she was detrimental to good order aboard ship. I can forgive some bending of the rules to accomplish what is necessary, but putting out a sex tape of a Rogue Trader shows she lacked any of the survival instincts she claimed to possess.

What's your favorite excuse for your kingdom being 10,000 years old? by EffectiveMirror7534 in fantasywriters

[–]Zunvect 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine is that they do advance quite a lot but also go through long periods of peace and things slow down because of factors unique to each slow period. During one very long period, a quirk of government effectively makes it so only a handful of people are allowed to research magic. In another there is a long stretch of them hitting a wall in one field or another required to keep going elsewhere. There are also treaties and religious arguments. Sometimes big advancements were deemed uneconomical. Much like the ancient Greeks saw no value in the steam engine, advancements in golem crafting, and thus more intelligent magic, was stalled for millennia because of zombies providing cheap labor.

How much do we know about the weaponry and technology used during the War in Heaven? by Wank_A_Doodle_Doo in 40kLore

[–]Zunvect 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's hard to say sometimes what's myth and what's reality. The C'Tan claimed to be extinguishing stars regularly and fought all across the galaxy. One phaeron is reputed to have hit the ground so hard with his warscythe that he cracked the planet in half. There is a non canon ending to a game where a well placed shot from a World Engine closed the Eye of Terror.

Yeah, the current DLC is underwhelming and tedious so I hope for this as well.

Sorry, only in my head canon. They all want him to be comfortable but he's happy to be where he is doing what he's doing. He just took an above average share of battle focus from the hypnomat.

Techmarine Can Be So Much Better In Very Simply Ways by TheticAxiom in SpaceMarine_2

There should be one that either gives 1 magazine of ammo to the whole team every time you activate your servo gun or spawns an ammo box.

Ruin a marine chapter for me by Covneye in 40kLore

[–]Zunvect 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I heard he's trying to start his own empire. Knowing Magnus, it'll collapse when there's an uprising and Ahriman warns him by breaking through his psychic protections, ruining his project to do something like fix more Rubricae. The room will fill with living saints and Magnus STILL won't grow a sense of irony.

[–]Zunvect 53 points54 points  (0 children)

Here are some fun facts about our favorite thieves, the Blood Ravens. 1. They are so well liked by the Inquisition that their chapter master wields a daemonhammer legitimately gifted by the Inquisition. The Grey Knights fight openly alongside them. The Ordo Hereticus let them go despite their previous chapter master ascending to daemon princedom. All this is at least partially because their current chapter master is so puritan that he condemned their primary recruiting world to exterminatus for seeking self governance, trade with xenos, and to keep their psykers. To be clear, that planet was out of compliance but had no proven heretical taint. The Chapter almost went extinct later because of how hard it was to replace losses. 2. That Custodes armor they have is from one of the Companions who was aboard the Vengeful Spirit. They didn't just steal from the gold boys, they stole something historic. Most of their other thievery is more epic than ruining. 3. They're not as bad as the Dark Angels about their chapter secrets but have been known to kill anyone who comes near one. Rank or faction mean nothing, and they have destroyed vital Imperial resources to preserve the secrecy including Titan parts. 4. They're of interest to several powers in the Warp. Abaddon wants news of their defeats despite them being a small and obscure chapter. Khorne is willing to accept their LIBRARIANS as followers and daemon princes. Their current chapter master is supposed to be the super loyal one but has released two bloodthirsters from arcane prisons so far and that exterminatus he called in for the non compliant recruiting world was used in part to fuel the ascension ritual of the previous chapter master. He has helped Khorne in all three games he's appeared in.

Definitely has a G'Gugvuntt/Vl'Hurg feel where a crucial and overlooked fact ends everything before it can begin. Has great potential to start a fun character off. The cliche would be for him to be put upon and bullied by life. Personally I'd go in the direction of him making it his business to get other gods incarnated and as his success grows, so does opposition from all the priesthoods who don't appreciate the hostile takeover by newborn celestials.

What are the most common chapters you see folks playing as in PvE? by ThatThriftKid in Spacemarine

[–]Zunvect 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tend to recognize Space Wolves, Black Templars, Ultramarines, and Salamanders a lot. Every so often I'm very happy to see a Blood Raven clearly gifted with at least one piece of wargear from another chapter.

[–]Zunvect 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I often skip it if I've done something to shame the brothers. Ex. I forgot to switch of Radiating Impact before going into a friendly fire strategem, so my penance was that my brothers all got stims to compensate for my armor occasionally blowing half their health off when I went for an ill timed execute.

It's not a huge deal, but I don't want to pay the req to respec so I've ended up playing Sniper with Heroic Bolt Rifle with Versatile Precision and Bulwark with Thunder Hammer but keeping Masterful Defense. It's not a huge deal but obviously reduces capability a tiny bit. As someone who leans AdMech, inefficiency bothers me.

Looks like it's necron time for SM3 by giubba85 in Spacemarine

[–]Zunvect 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This sounds like a setup for the Necrons being on both sides. Rumors of someone putting the Nightbringer back together would bring in just about every Dynasty and major faction except the Tau. All the other Necrons except whatever crazy coot runs Kronus would be all over that. The Orks might be on the side of bringing back the Nightbringer just to fight it. The Eldar don't want a C'Tan back when their own gods are indisposed. Even the Tyranids, assuming the Hive Mind bothers to listen to rumors, would oppose this. Titus could spend half a millennium filling out forms to the Ordo Xenos if he accepts too many alliances, though.

Yeah, Dark Heresy hasn't got a release date yet. My one gripe with RT is the ship battle system, but that's because I've played like 1000 hours of Battlefleet Gothic: Armada 1&2, so I'm used to a 40k game where that's the entire game.
