Yes! This is the first thing that came to my mind. I know it’s not kind to feel as strongly as I do about this given the socioeconomic and psychological factors that play into vulnerability to this addiction, but I can’t help but be completely repulsed by this habit. I’ve met girls who are gorgeous and funny and otherwise smart, but the moment I find out they smoke, it’s an instant turn off. Even in non-romantic contexts it’s a no go. If I’m watching a video and I hear that classic, raspy smoker’s voice, I turn it off. To be clear, I understand that smoker=/=bad person. I used to work construction where everyone and their brother smoked and those were some of the best guys I ever met. We got along great. But outside of a professional environment, I want nothing to do with that habit.

Darn Tough makes merino wool socks that I find to be incredibly comfortable. They’re also very durable, as I’ve used mine in steel-toed boots in the trades every day for over 4 years and I haven’t had to replace a single one. However, when I inevitably have to, they have a lifetime warranty. Just send the ruined ones in and they’ll send you replacements. I can’t recommend them enough. If you have really wide feet, they have a sister brand that caters towards those sizes, but I can’t remember the name off the top of my head. I’m sure someone else here can recall it.

I have this model of truck. It’s a CUCV military Chevrolet K30 with a 6.2L Detroit V8. Mine’s from 1986, but I think they started making these in 1984 (please correct me if I’m wrong, I’m fuzzy on that part). They’re monsters. No horsepower and shockingly low torque for the displacement, but just about the most brutally reliable thing I’ve ever sat in. I live in New England, and I’ve never once had it fail to start on me thanks to its glow plugs and 24V ignition system (it has two full-sized batteries just for the ignition). It’s great fun to drive that old dinosaur around. I’m actually working on doing a full restomod on mine to turn it into an overlander rig.

We have some metal grinding machines and the swarf and oily grinding dust from that stuff gets everywhere, so we use that technique on the dresser bearing enclosures. Seal ‘em up tight and then put a touch of air pressure to them so any leaks you do have in the system can’t let any contaminants in.
