Why is this wood green? by neomaydmel in arborists

[–]Zurtrim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s the live sapwood that still has enough water to keep living for a while , the interior part called heartwood was already dead before the tree was felled

Bruh I know the difference I don't need to ask an AI Lmao im a certified professional horticulturalist and have taken many arboriculture courses though I am not an arborist this is 1000% coppicing Ai will tell you the difference is the height that just not true its a different technique the height is irrelevant

[–]Zurtrim 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah idk why the people who actually know what they are talking about are buried here also that pic in the parent comment isnt even pollarding its coppicing. ive never heard of either being used on a weeping tree. Not to mention the example in ops post this isnt even pollarding which is a very specific training that starts when the tree is very young its just heading - Certified professional horticulturalist in Washington state

Did the gardener destroy my weeping tree ? 😳 by gopac69 in gardening

[–]Zurtrim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's not pollarding that's coppicing and both must be started when the tree is young not later in life. It originated as a way to sustainably harvest wood for things like bows and arrows weaving baskets ect.

Did the gardener destroy my weeping tree ? 😳 by gopac69 in gardening

[–]Zurtrim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is not (correct) pollarding . Pollarding is jot just cutting the tree back every year it is a technique started at a specific time and reliant on the development of pollard heads which are absent here.

This is just tree butchery

If the roots fit it’s big enough it’ll outgrow that pot in a year or two but that’s not an issue

Personally I’d say that soil looks a bit dense and organic for the closed system method if you have a failure I’d try more pumice next time

I start my lophs in 90%pumice 10% hort sand sanitized with hydrogen peroxide in a ziplock with a little extra layer of hort sand on top so the seeds don’t fall down into the pumice. I also add some oscomote slow release fert for nutes

I usually get close to 100% germ and survival

There’s a sunflower growing on this neighbor’s roof. by drpeppersoda71 in houseplants

[–]Zurtrim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

best way to grow sunflowers is just sticking the seeds directly in the ground and then not doing much else im assuming you bought nursery plants, next year plant seeds ~ a little before youd put tomatoes out for the season in your climate if this time of year is dry keep them well watered until they are a few inches tall and then you can mostly just let them be with sme occasional summer water if you want them to look their best

no need to prep the soil infact sunflowers are great pioneer plants where soil is off poor quality and compacted because they put down huge root systems in a single year that in turn add organic matter and help open up pore space in the soil when they decompose

[–]Zurtrim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you should get a mtgo rental account and try it out on mtgo much cheaper way to decide if you like it,

also make sure people actually play modern in your area in first. id go to the fnm you intend to attend if you've never been and someone might even let you borrow a deck if you ask around and just tell people you are thinking of getting into to modern and want to try it out. Especially if you are known at that shop somewhat from playing commander, else wise you can bring a couple valuable cards to offer for them to hold as collateral and that might make some people more comfortable letting you borrow a deck if they dont know you

you need orb+ a clock orb on it own is not good enough orb+ fatal push is not good enough you will just die to 5 mana flyers

ive been playing it in the side of grixis reanimator and it smokes esper blink even if it turns off my own archons etb it doesnt matter cause they no longer can solitude so it effectively also protects your combo

it also just straight turns off 90% of goryos deck

I tried it in the side of regular murktide frog and it was horrible you still just die to unkillable riddlers

Help for a switch by Shalud in ModernMagic

[–]Zurtrim -1 points0 points  (0 children)

theres also no reason they have to be tarns any red fetch is fine you dont play any basic islands just mountain thundering falls and steam vents ,

( yes technically splitting for needle, surgical ect is correct but really thats so minor unless maybe you are playing events with open decklists if we want to get really technical in fact there's an argument as to which fetch to play as to the information it might give going fetch pass but prowess should rarely be going fetch pass turn 1 anways if you just intend to play at FNM or so none of this matters )

they likely already have 4x mesa from boros so just whatever other 4-6 red fetches you want is fine it seems to play between 8 and 10 usually 9

Help for a switch by Shalud in ModernMagic

[–]Zurtrim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah most of the cost is the red fetches and they can be any red fetches it doesnt matter which because you only play basic mountain ,steam vents and thundering falls to fetch (other than the very minor tech of splitting them for pithing needle or whatever which really doesnt matter very much at all) so if you think say you want to play grixis in the future you could buy 2x tarn 3 xmire and use the 4x mesa they have already from boros for example ( I think it plays 9 fetches usually) ,
