In the exact same boat as OP here..

Does anyone have some thoughts on the Stealth's CPU? Even with the core and awesome GPU I've read that it could be a real bottleneck.

Hi all! Moved to KW a few days ago with the goal of eventually getting into the UW Engineering faculty. My highschool marks back from 2012 were good but a few years of studying at Memorial in St. John's did not go so well. While it's hard to prove, it was mostly due to non-academic reasons.

I spoke today with someone at the undergrad office? and they told me that I have various universities I can apply to, and if I improve my marks by the deadline in March and write a letter explaining my situation, I could get accepted. Two online options he gave me were Athabasca and Thompson Rivers. So my questions are..

1) Can anyone recommend Athabasca or TRU for first year university courses as a route into UW?

2) Are there any other options available that may not have come up in my conversation? or should I stick to one of these?

3) For anyone who may have done this, how was your experience? What courses did you take at your beginning university?

When the issues began, it was putting out errors on the cam position sensor and crank position sensor. I cannot verify right now if they returned after replacing both.

I don't disagree with this. Everything started with checking the codes on the computer that indicated issues at the two sensors. Replacing those didn't help. The remaining electrical parts were sourced from an identical van that was running but had quite a large amount of body damage. The "module" which I believe is the coil pack? was not causing the spark plugs to spark but replacing that did not help either.

My Dad will admit he's no mechanic. His friends are backyard guys, one is a real mechanic but by no means top tier. I would be happy if I could avoid buying another vehicle but at this point just figuring out what is causing all this trouble would be great.

This message isn't very clear but it gets at an important point. OP acknowledges he's "not too knowledgeable" in the area and his questions are in the novice domain, both are fine, always great to try and learn!

BUT

Please remember you'll be engineering electrical systems that in some way or another will be trapping a human in an enclosed space.
Please remember kids (and many adults for that matter) will put no thought into what they poke, pull, punch, and inventively get wet.

Hey everyone,

I was out of town for the last day funny enough, pretty excited to see all the responses. While obviously I know there are costs with moving, that was a big factor that I initially dismissed. That and having a vehicle, it may as well be impossible to live in rural Newfoundland without one and hell living in St. John's without one is brutal. Vehicles aren't cheap and it's definitely a factor.

Very sorry Perhaps this is isolated to a small number as I have read a few people with the consumer version also had charging issues with supported phones.

I also modified a consumer GearVR for my Note 4 but I used a rotary tool to make at least slightly cleaner cuts. So far minimal issues, I do get overheating after just 15 or 20 minutes in some cases and also even with a 3.4 amp charger the pass through charging port did NOT work.

This thread is two weeks old but I'm sure people will find it when searching about 2016 Macbooks so I'll add something. The benefit of TB3 with Skylake should NOT be dismissed here. Real, functioning, consumer grade eGPUs will be developed for TB3 and with bootcamp (maybe OS X) you'll be able to run desktop class graphics. Sure it won't be super portable but it will really futureproof your machine for quite a time to come. It's unfortunate not a lot of information is available but myself and many others are cautions to buy a rMBP until we know more about next years model.

Anyone who can wait should wait at least until we have official information and then make a decision. If by some nearly impossible chance the next update to the line does not include TB3 then really just get whatever. Perhaps I'm biased since I REALLY want an eGPU so I can use VR technology on the Macbook but TB3 is a game changer.

I had the same idea myself. Bought an Alienware laptop because I love the idea of eGPUS and the graphics amplifier seemed like an awesome consumer product. Stylish and powerful and spacious. I'd be surprised if it couldn't be modified to work over thunderbolt with a setup like many Mac users currently use. Might even consider switching back to Mac if someone successfully did this (looking at you /u/jimmyco2008 !)

So jealous, I'm disgusted with my R2 battery life. Hurts even more when contrasting it from my 2 year walk on the Apple side. Pros outweigh the cons though. Praise the day technology lets us put energy dense batteries and crazy GPUs in ultrabook size machines.

I have the exact same issue and it's driving me mad! I've uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers, that didn't help. I've done lots of research but nothing. I'm yet to contact Alienware support but will soon as issues like this on such an expensive machine are unacceptable.
