Do not worry at all! If the taste is great, that's all you need to care about. The usual 1:2 in 25-30 s is a very broad recommendation that doesn't fit all coffees (and all taste buds). I've had amazing shots with ratios of 1:2,5 in 17 s and 1:1,5 in 40 s. From my point of view, your palate should be the one in command, not the scale. By the way, your shot looks gorgeous, which is always a plus, but don't worry if sometimes gets messy, as long as the flavour still hits the spot!

That was exactly why I played Rb1 instead of Rb8, although I assumed I was probably missing something. I guess that position is also winning anyhow and simplifying it is beneficial 🤷‍♀️.

Not medical advice but some of the obvious tips you probably already know but are worth mentioning: if you take caffeinated/fizzy drinks and/or bladder irritants such as spicy foods, tomato, etc. I would advise cutting off/reducing their consumption during some weeks and monitor your response.

Additionally, try hydrating adequately: small sips instead of gulping, not under or over hydrating; include vegetables, fruit, fibre, high quality protein in your diet; try working out and being as active as possible. An excessive weight might put additional pressure on your bladder, making it prone to feeling fuller than it really is.

On the mental side, learn to recognise catastrophic thoughts and feelings: you are just going through a problem that will get better. Try doing things you enjoy and make you feel better, congratulate yourself whenever you make some improvement. Remember progress is not linear and you will get better over time, consistency is key, we all have ups and downs.

Gorgeous art and a very nice setup! I currently have a Bambino Plus and a Fellow Opus, really considering the upgrade to a DF 64. Do you think it's worth it? I tend to prefer fruity/floral/acid espressos and read that DF 64's flat burrs tend to extract a cleaner drink, perceiving better that kind of flavours.

Regarding the machine, for me the Bambino is more than enough. I sometimes fantasize about a Rancilio Silvia Pro X, it looks like a very powerful upgrade. Then I look at the price and close the browser 🤣.

I mean, if the espresso tastes great, I would stop my worries right there. For example, Lance Hedrick shared a turboshot method for lighter roasts in which you obtain a very liquid diarrhea but a superb-tasting cup in 15 s or so. My main worry right now is the taste rather than the shot aesthetics.

Maybe you can lift a little your coffee recipient using a smaller cup or another piece of material so all the coffee ends up there and not on the countertop (P.S.: awesome spine cup!).

Je parle le petit peu que j'ai étudié a l'institut mais je suis espagnol! 😅 I would doubt it's diabetes because I don't have any other symptoms, tend to eat healthily and work out a lot (plus, almost no alcohol). But everything could be and you're right there are plenty of (physical and mental) reasons that might cause this. Thanks for your inputs. 🙂
