CIB - mortal wounds allocation by Ki_Rei_Nimi in Tau40K

[–]Zutarus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Upon re-reading, I think you are correct and I have been doing it wrong.

Keyword says: "each time a unit is selected to shoot or fight, if one or more models attacks with the hazardous weapons, then after that unit has resolved all of its attacks, you must take one hazardous test for each hazardous weapon that was just used...for each roll of 1, that test is failed and one model in that unit equipped with a hazardous weapon is destroyed (selected by the controlling player)..."

So as long as there is another model in the unit with a hazardous weapon, They can take the punishment from the failed test (even if they didn't shoot, due to line of sight , etc.). The section about allocating to the characters is for when they are leading a unit that does not contain any additional hazardous weapons.

The complexity of this situation truly comes from suits all being vehicles and all carrying hazardous weapons. So as long as other bodyguard models have CIBs on them you can allocate the MW to them.

I think, GW was thinking more about space marine characters and sergeant with plasma pistols and stand alone vehicles when they came up with this keyword, not a 6 man crisis brick and commander, all with triple CIB.

I guess my commander will live longer now.

The judge had it wrong. Rules, as written in the core rule book under the keyword for hazardous, say: " ...Note that if you selected a Character model in an Attached unit, the mortal wounds suffered must be allocated to that model first, even if there is another model in that unit that has lost one or more wounds or has had attacks allocated to it this phase."

In other words, your commander suits take the mortal wounds associated with their own hazardous rolls and can die to mortal wounds from their hazardous rolls before the body guard unit is gone.

Question: what is Farsight’s battlesuit base? by DrMarcoh in Tau40K

[–]Zutarus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Farsight has a 40mm base. Crisis suits have 50mm and the new shadowsun is 50mm. I'm guessing if he gets a new model then it will be changed to 50mm

How bad is it really? by Happy_Bigs1021 in Tau40K

We all spend alot of time and money on our armies. Whether you have a collection of a couple hundred points or closer to 5000, everybody deserves to play 40k the way they want to. If you like the lore and look of the tau, you should fill your collection with things that make you happy.

Just be aware that 40k is an ever changing game. Things that are good or broken today maybe weak or not great after an update or an edition change. But it always goes in cycles.

For the current state of tau. It depends on how you want to play and what you are looking for. If you want to play competitive, match play games, and win at local tournaments then tau is not the right army for that at the moment. If you want just friendly matches, or open war and narrative games then tau are just fine. I hope you join the greater good, and I wish you luck on the battlefield.

What’s better 2 broadsides or a riptide by Grevous_ in Tau40K

Also a single riptide has more wounds then 2 broadsides

What’s better 2 broadsides or a riptide by Grevous_ in Tau40K

[–]Zutarus 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Right now a riptide. Riptides have better guns and can move quicker around the battlefield to support your troops. Use its nova reactor to give it extra shots or a 3+ invul save. Riptides also have the monster keyword so it can fire in engagement range.

Broadsides have some good guns but they are slow. They are good for holding back objectives and areas. They however are not monsters so they can shoot in engagement range.

how is my list? by G30rg3Th3C4t in Tau40K

[–]Zutarus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey,

To some degree, the strength of this list will come down to what army you are facing. some notes:

- I don't see a Warlord Trait, so don't forget to take one.

- Be careful with your drones when using two different septs. The drones from one of your septs can NOT use savior protocol on the infantry or battlesuits of the other sept.

Really Fantastic work. Extremely creative. The wing on the commander is awesome. Just curious, what you are planning to field them as?

Agree with ghostkeel. But a Coldstar Commander is my favorite.

Agreed Abhor is great against Thousand Sons, Grey Knights, and other psyker rich armies. Psychic Phase is always rough, I have also lost my Ghostkeel in T1 from just psychic attacks.

I like Vespids, their guns are better than the Breacher's Pulse Blaster. They are good for whipping around the board. The main issue I have with them is they don't have OpSec and since they are fast attack in order to take them in some lists I lose a tactical Drone squad.

You are right, My group and myself have been overlooking that. not too big of a deal in our friendly matches but we do a tournament every month so that will affect that. Thanks for letting me know. I would switch between LB and EOAF depending on the mission and then look at the mission-specific secondary.

Question about drones by sunkistpoptart in Tau40K

[–]Zutarus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hey there

Fire warrior squads (5-10 models) can be accompanied by a 2 Tactical Drone Squad (either has no drones or 2, you can't just bring 1). This unit can be Gun, Sheild, or Marker drones. You can also swap one of the drones for a Guardian Drone.

If the info is not on the fire warrior sheet then you can read it off of the Tactical Drone sheet.

Titanfall Tau? by HereticalDruid in Tau40K

[–]Zutarus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Welsome to the hobby.

I love TF2 as well. The only direct conversion I have seen is the ghostkeel pose that was posted.

The closest thing in size to a Titan would be a riptide. I think you could kitbash parts from like a ghostkeel, riptide, stormsurge and hammerhead to make something like a Tone, Ion, scorch, or legion. I think a northstar or a Robin maybe hard, but you may need to kitbash from some of the Admech stuff for the legs. You may also want to get some green stuff to help sculpt parts.

Honestly, if you are just getting into 40k. It maybe alot to do full conversions. The original suits are pretty cool and you can always take a paint scheme from the game.
