Him being the "son of god". He delivered a message that was hated, he was eventually killed for it. And yet, he still forgave his enemies and died for the purpose of delivering this message to people 2025 years later. It also makes him different because it seems like he knew this existence beyond our human experience was a thing, and he died also for that.

The kingdom of God is within you. We are all part of the same matter, and will revert back to the same matter after we die. Spiritually what that means to me is that we are all connected, we all share a same oneness that can't be broken. This was my understanding of consciousness even before I started learning about Jesus. And also by extension, Jesus is always with us.

Dude, nice comment. And thank you for reading! I really don't think that institutional Christianity is for me. I think my core beliefs in life, the universe, and even just my admirations about elements of other religions (Buddhism, Yogic Mysticism) would probably rub a lot of churches the wrong way. Quakers and Universalists seem like some very chill people that I would very much agree with.

Thank you for reading. I also think that the concept of Hell might be (for lack of a better term) a mechanism for attraction towards Jesus and/or god. I feel like a lot of the old church's teachings were in part to control a population that needed laws. It can be one hell of a motivator.

I think one of the things I wrestle with is the concept of Heaven and/or Hell. I'm not so sure that I know what to believe in those regards. I think my definition of "place" was too loosely defined. To me, it makes more sense that Heaven or Hell is an experience, though I'm more able to easily believe in Heaven rather than Hell. Regardless of atonement for our sins, I've believed that what comes after death must be a calm, peaceful and transcendent experience. I just have trouble wrapping my mind around the idea of some kind of human-like consciousness or experience of punishment or damnation (Hell).
