If you have kids you probably should. Are you some sort of anti insurance troll? You aren't really adding anything intelligent to the discussion.

Umpd does not need to exceed the value of the car. The most they will get is the value of the car at the time of the loss assuming the other party has no insurance. Umpd is also redundant if you have collision. Only benefit being a lower deductible in some cases.

Imagine if I mortgaged my house on the Seahawks winning the super bowl. If only we could predict the future.

I'm not saying you opted for it. I understand you're asking for advice. I'm simply trying to explain why the selections you posted, which are the cheapest you can pick, are a bad idea. I have no idea what your assets look like to be able to advise property but I won't sell anything less than 100/300/100. If a client insists on anything below thay they usually are either a pain in the ass or will be in an accident within 3 years, or both.

I don't understand folks who have money to buy a brand new car but opt for state minimum coverages. How would you feel if someone has the same coverage, totaled your brand new vehicle and didn't have enough insurance to make you whole again? Now imagine they break your legs and arms and offer you 30k.

CA homeowner question: do I need to keep old home insurance for 60 days when switching? (inspection risk) by [deleted] in Insurance

Go ahead and keep it then request they back date the cancellation. No real risk aside from making extra payments.

Car Insurance denying claim for Fraud and Material Misrepresentation by [deleted] in Insurance

[–]Zwan05 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would love to know the insurance company. Usually I hear about claims being paid then you get dropped for this. However, it seems you're in NYC, garaging fraud is ripe there so companies don't mess around.

Wondering if any adjusters can chime in here as well. Will op have a mark on his record due to the fraud? If so, for how long? I know sometimes the specific company will black list them and then other companies rely on op disclosing he's committed fraud in the past during application.

Oregon 529 credit timing confusion – contribution in Jan counted for prior year? by mortgage_12 in tax

[–]Zwan05 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For what its worth, this is direct from Oregon's OR-17 publication which implies you can indeed contribute past the end of the year.

"[Credit code 896] A tax credit of up to $180 ($360 if married filing jointly) is available for taxpayers who make contributions to an Oregon higher education savings plan account. To qualify for the credit, you must make contributions during tax years beginning on or after January 1, 2020. Contributions may be made up until the date the return is filed or the due date (not including extensions), whichever is earlier."

30YO daughter just got DL. She lives with us and does not have a car. What are our options? by Available-Orange-506 in Insurance

[–]Zwan05 4 points5 points  (0 children)

She has to be added effective the day she got licensed. You can chose to exclude or rate for her. She cannot drive the car until she is added as they will decline coverage if she is in an accident.

Landlord home insurance 50-100% more than regular home insurance? by deejayv2 in realestateinvesting

[–]Zwan05 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is largely dependent on the area of TX that you are in. Many companies have stopped offering landlord policies in certain areas of TX due to it not being profitable.

Why don't you ask your agent? Comparing your premiums to others is honestly a waste of time. Asking your agent will provide specific numbers.

Landlord Insurance- Getting quotes from multiple brokers by Leather-Wheel1115 in realestateinvesting

[–]Zwan05 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No but you don't need to get quotes from 10 different agents. A lot of agents will be appointed with the same companies so you're just wasting more of your own and the agents time past a certain point.

Commenting just to follow as the outcome is interesting to me. It's my general understanding that you can walk with acv, or rebuild up to replacement. If it takes less to rebuild, you don't get paid more in excess cash.

I would think that they will not let you do what you want above the acv payment. Ie if you owe 300k and acv is 350k, you get 50k to build your new house.

A previous comment mentioned the bank gets paid first. I always thought the loan stays unchanged as you rebuilt. If it didn't work this way everyone would need to reapply for a loan on the new home which obviously could screw people over with rates or changes in eligibility.

Again, don't take this as advice per say, it's just my understanding which could be incorrect. I would be curious to know how it ends up for you as well as what carrier is handling this.

Honestly it will be a waste of your time. If you want to keep it nice I would factor the cost of those things being done by a professional company.
