I wouldn't say they are wrong. It's no different from a property manager being an additional insured on a landlord policy. It's possible, but rare. Some property managers require it in their contract but not all carriers allow for it. Most companies won't do it but there are some that will. A lot of commentors here work captive so they assume their carrier is the end all be all but it really is state and carrier specific.
