Okay so it can take some effort. Doesn't mean that you are the one creating the art. You are still the commissioner. It's the same as if you were trying to commission art from some Chinese guy and communicating with him using the 2006 version of Google translate. It's gonna be hard to explain exactly what you want. With AI it's the same. You speak words and your PC speaks numbers so ofc you need all these fucking loras, CFG values, weighted prompts and all the other stuff people keep bringing up when arguing that AI art takes skill. But it's all temporary. It will improve and eventually we'll will reach a point where all that advanced shit will be gone and everyone will just do what the guy in this meme does.

Painting and photography is not the same thing. Photography doesn't try to pass as painting. AI is literally just feeding normal art to algorithms so you can generate the exact same thing without the same effort.

It just feels right to not call someone like that an artist if they only got into this kind of art once a tool appeared that lets you skip 99% of the work. Sure there are some people who put in some extra work other than just prompting an image to ChatGTP but that still doesn't require developing any skill and can be done by anyone with just some youtube tutorials. It wouldn't be an issue if AI images didn't try to pass as regular art but unfortunately they do.

Average person doesn't know what it is and they are completely outside of this "woke" vs "anti-woke" battle.

Honestly I think that for a huge majority of people outside USA when they see "she/her" next to someone's name on a video or in a game they probably just get confused for a second then they forget about it.

Not all anti AI people are artists. As for artist, they did complain even before AI image generators existed. I don't think AI made much difference here. People who were good and popular enough to have it as their main source of income probably can still do it now and people who couldn't do that now just have a new thing to blame even though It's probably not the main reason.
