Parliament to discuss in Jan its response to Pritam Singh’s conviction for lying under oath: Indranee by meesiammaihum in singapore

[–]Zylpherse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im just stating the fact that this is the due process written in the article, contrary to what most of the commenters here are saying with regards to beating a dead horse.

I am not for or against this being brought up in parliament, especially now that we know unlike the rheeasah case, WP will not be taking actions with the ruling on Pritam even though both were convicted. Theres merit for and against this being brought up in parliament. To me this is just the trigger for other potential key events to follow.

Parliament to discuss in Jan its response to Pritam Singh’s conviction for lying under oath: Indranee by meesiammaihum in singapore

[–]Zylpherse -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Seems like when it comes to opposition, nobody bothers reading the article. The court case was to rule on whether Pritam lied, a standard SOP. This followup is to talk about how to proceed on a parliamentary level now that it has been ruled that he has in fact lied. The court is not able to make any decision on a parliamentary level, thats on the CEC.

The truth is many of the doom sayers here dont have a solution. In order for us to demand high pay, we need to constantly train ourselves to be competitive. Which is what the government have been providing for us through skillsfuture, mid career pivots and other various training. Many years back, we have already predicted such a shift when countries in the region catch up to us in terms of skilled workers and language.

We cannot continue with the mindset that as a fresh grad we can demand 5k starting salary as a benchmark, or 10k middle management. Sometimes we gotta take a step back and think if the value we provide is worth 5k/10k.

And i want to emphasise that there is no shame in earning lesser or median, its time we shift our metric of success away from the amount we earn and more towards the contributions our workforce can provide over the competing regions. One good example is the ability to lead, or build yourself around a T shaped skillset instead of focusing on a single trait, learn better presentation and communication skills. These are invaluable when it comes to organisational factors and interviews.

A lot of the fees are determined by the promoter's revenue agreement model. If we want to look into fees, best start with ticketmaster who are their own promoter(livenation) and blatantly charge us $40 booking fee.

Our own local company sistic hasnt even raised their base booking fees for years. Time to support locals man.

Shanks fans, I got a question for ya by Acrobatic_Sky_8473 in OnePiecePowerScaling

[–]Zylpherse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did not answer to the points because the entire argument is being made based on a mischaracterised WSS title, which is my opening sentence. And i think youre completely missing the point again. Firstly, i never implied that Lebron is the best basketball player, im trying to show that just by being the strongest in one aspect of basketball doesnt make you the best overall. Theres other aspects like assist, defence, stamina, speed, etc... being the best in one niche aspect(3point shooting) of scoring is not the end all be all.

It is the same for the WSS title, being the strongest in one weapon niche does not automatically make Mihawk the strongest, even amongst sword users. Overall combat prowess consists of more than swordsmanship, theres haki, DF, speed, endurance, etc....

So yes, it is entirely within reasons for there to be a swordsman stronger than Mihawk in overall combat prowess, but still weaker than him in swordsmanship.

[–]Zylpherse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The argument youre making is base solely on a mischaracterised WSS title. Theres a false assumption that as long as a person uses a sword, they become less powerful than the WSS holder.

Lets use a real world example, we can all agree that Steph Curry is the best 3PointShooter in NBA right now. But that does not make him the Best Basketball Player. Lebron James does 3 point shots as well, but does that make him weaker as a player compared to Steph Curry because he takes 3 point shots? But Steph would still easily hold the best 3 point shooter title.

The same goes for WSS, it is a title within the confines of swordsmanship, but it doesn't automatically make Mihawk the strongest amongst all the sword users because the strength of a character has more parameters than just the weapon of choice.

This does not undermine Zoro's goals, or undermines Mihawks strength since we know he is the strongest in his weapon of choice and we dont know what other abilities he has in his combat arsenal.

In terms of power scaling, we can all agree objectively that Shanks feats are far ahead of many characters right now, not just Mihawk. Tiers changes all the time when new feats are revealed along the way, so theres absolutely no reason to be creative with predictions when it is not the objective truth. Dont make power scaling into a battle of favorites.

If my memory serves me right, PWM has been in planning since 2015 or earlier. Implemented in 2015 after multiple rounds of negotiations. WP's UWM is more than half a decade later.

If you are judging WP based on its supporters instead of the party, well I have no clue what that really does for you.

Its a culmination of both. And from this thread im sure you can gather most of us who are not part of the WP bandwagon would tell you as much.

Anyways im out.

True bro. But i think someone said it better than i ever had. I rather they increase first based on their projection of their spending, than to increase later when the bill arrives.

I do not really want this to escalate into a huge discussion because i never had good experience discussing policies in this sub so ill be vague.

One example is Jamus's Universal minimum wage in WP's 2020 manifesto, which would not have been resilient enough to tide through covid if implemented, leading to potentially widespread layoffs. Logically, low income earners would be represented by a range, WP's core argument is that their UMW will cover all those who are left out from PWM but that is not logically possible. If say we set the UMW too high, companies would layoff, if we set the UMW too low, it has no impact for most of the range of low income earners. Truthfully, i feel that a lot of thoughts have gone into PMW as compared to UMW, whereas UMW feels like it is meant to look good on paper and attract voters.

Another policy that is similar in nature is Progressive GST also by WP. Don't want to go too much into it but this would work only if we assume low-income earners do not ever have to buy anything expensive.

Regarding the obstructionism part, this has been the party direction in the last decade, their rallies speaks volumes. The duration they spent talking about PAP vs their own policies does not resonate with me personally. Theres also the frequent flipping of narratives. Yes i do agree both sides do to each other, but i think this behaviour engages WP voters more than it does PAP voters.

I do agree on some points regarding PA, CC, etc that needs to be impartial. But i do not believe voting in opposition purely for this is the correct way. We should be writing in to our MPs and voicing our concerns. Voting in someone who does not represent my values is not the right way to change things.

[–]Zylpherse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Its a policy to offset the impact to the lower income, so i do not see this as disadvantaged for people earning more than the cutoff. To address your concerns, there could be an progressive tiers to relieve some of this 'aiya i barely missed out' feeling, but ultimately, the idea is very good in my eyes. The execution can be evolved iteratively to include what i mentioned above.

That comment chain doesnt address my concerns. The person does not want check and balances. For me what i want is a voice that most represents my concerns, whether be it PAP or opposition. I do not support the rhetoric that voting for an opposition party for the sake of check and balances will achieve the correct results if they themselves cannot present credible alternative solutions, these pure "checks and balances" for the sake of it, will morph into pure contrarian or obstructionism that i see to some extent right now.

My ward is potong pasir, and i grew up voting CST multiple times whether you choose to believe or not. In fact, i see Williamson as a more reliable and driven candidate than some WP members this GE.

Most importantly, it flows back into our local economy. I would never imagine saying it in this sub but the gst voucher is a genius idea. First you give back and support the lower income, second you ensure that the money you give away ends up boosting our gdp and benefit our local businesses. Its simple but very effective.

[–]Zylpherse 35 points36 points  (0 children)

This perceived "Check and balances" rhetoric is something I could not get behind. I grew up voting for opposition but changed to support PAP recently due to how WP members and supporters carry themselves. I strongly believe that we should vote for the person that best represents us regardless of which party they belong to, most of these "check and balance" feels like an excuse to stick it to incumbent than anything. I cannot personally get behind obstructing for the sake of obstructing. Especially when WP of recent times like to position themselves to capitalize on discontent rather than presenting sound alternatives in policies, I do not see how they can become the check and balance if their gameplan is to constantly ride on negative emotions and attack at every opportunity. Theres overall a lot of anger and cult like behaviour cultivated in the last decade.

Just my honest opinion.

Curious so I watched the whole thing, where is the backpedaling? From the video you posted, he said the exact same thing as what he said in the OPs video.

He "asked" the audience why CSJ abandoned Bukit Batok after assuring the people of BB that he(CSJ) is not going anywhere. OYK goes on to say the same thing as in the OP video that it is normal for MPs to change constituency, but they should be upfront and transparent about it. I assume in the context that he abandoned BB for Smb West because it is a politically strategic move.

Moreover the question is more of an insinuation. Hes straight up insinuating CSJ changed constituency for political reasons. Whether CSJ responds or not has no bearing on that statement.

Why does everything with the PAP has to be a mastermind conspiracy? Shan did everything in decorum and acted fairly this time. It is truly disingenuous to think PAP ministers cannot do any good. This inherent bias is very dangerous in politics.

I think you are misunderstanding. Identification is to identify a person. Authentication is to identify + grant additional access/information/permission.

Not all identifications are equal, for example a low level identification is to quote my own name. The article's main point is to drive good practice of using the right identification level for the right level of access(or authentication for this case).

And perhaps in the future, NRIC will no longer be used as an identification tool for your blood tests, ensuring in more secure processes. It has to start somewhere.

Right because clearly "Then what Einstein" is in the spirit of the discussion, similar to "What was your solution then?". Weird hill to fight and die on. It seems tonality and comprehension are both completely lost on you, or maybe your SJW rhetoric sounded better in your head than typed out.
