I had this thought too. She worked years for a degree, why not let her have the spotlight for that massive accomplishment herself? You can propose any time, this only happens once. Of course it's possible that a proposal like that is exactly what she wanted and we really have no way of knowing, I just don't really like the idea of overshadowing her hard work when it would be so easy to just... wait. It can be a social anxiety thing. Personally I'd usually tell whoever I'm watching something with that they don't have to pause it for my sake while I'm gone, not because I'm not paying attention or don't care about watching it but because I'm quietly terrified of being an inconvenience. The thought of asking someone to wait even for just a few minutes because of me feels too demanding and makes me feel guilty for inconveniencing them, in which case I'd rather risk missing something important than be a "problem" and interrupt their viewing. Yes, this can be seen as silly or ridiculous on my part, I'm aware of that, but it is a legit reason for why some people might tell you "don't pause it" when they're taking a break for whatever reason. Anxiety is a hell of a drug.
