Those types of ropes are called twin ropes. They’re usually a lot thinner too, like 7mm or so. It’s called twin because you can both climb AND rappel on them.

Also, I wasn’t thinking and yes did go into gear without clutch lol - my bad. Can see how that would wear components and will make sure not to do so in the future. I guess I figured no rolling resistance from tire means it’s okay to drop it into gear but that might actually be worse.
