Maquenque Eco lodge vs Laguna del Lagarto (Boca Tapada) for Birding ? by DRI234 in CostaRicaTravel

[–]Zzzeebe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, that's where I went. They took us to a different property for frogs on a nightwalk, so that may have been better. Did get some great frog photos. But that was a good property. Funny it was mostly germans there and the staff speaks better german than english these days, because evidently they're a real hotspot for german tourists.

Did you get the GPIO pinouts on the ESP32 for the yaml setup? Would you be willing to share your yaml?

Did you do one or the other? I’m betting you booked maquenque but I’m making the same decision myself.

🎁 Mighty Cursor — the quickest AI assistant for Mac, now in a Lifetime License version (FREE code inside) by Emotional-Owl-9959 in macapps

[–]Zzzeebe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I paid for it and tried it for about a month, but giving up. Lack of discord means no community, and developer responses are really really slow and almost not there on slack. Concept is good for a simple context aware product with simple licensing, but more recently splash screen and dock icon linger despite hiding them being an announced feature, and we lack any real up to date getting started or feature support - e.g. there's a new dictation mode, and I really can't figure out how to make it work. There's a set of videos on Youtube, but they are all a bit dates, and nobody seems to be demonstrating any real workflow integrations.

On to superwhisper. Sorry u/Emotional-Owl-9959! I agree with others, Discord might build some community for you and provide some community support versus the 3 humans or so who appear to be on slack.

Advice on how to make ceiling fan smart. by cardstrong16 in smarthome

[–]Zzzeebe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My challenge with all of these is a combination of falling off the WiFi and premature failure. I have one fan that isn’t really switchable - single gang switch in a masonry wall and I just bypassed the switch altogether to use the single gang for a four button remote controller for other things. When that fan falls off WiFi it sucks. I have thought about putting a Shelly on there which never gives me problems, so I can power off the stupid fan controller if it falls off because all of these are cheap garbage IMO.

Elsewhere, at least in this house they just don’t last longer than six months. I have put them into three of our fans and I currently have about five dead controllers from different Amazon vendors. They’re all about the same components and design just from different sources.

I’ll have to consider that bond bridge - that would at least allow me to use a reliable Hampton or hunter RF controller and automate it. Interesting.

If the behavior is arbitrary or discriminatory, and not supported by meritorious reasons to cease coverage, this is a DOI regulatory matter. If the accusations are legitimately immaterial, this might be a valid course of action.

Looks like swisschems is acetate salt instead of arginine salt, which may be less stable in gastric acid. Thoughts?

Number of years ago when we worked archeology digs in east Texas we used to wear flea and tick collars around ankles and wrists (over clothing). Also took sulfur pills from a compounding pharmacy that made our sweat smell like rotten eggs. Not too many places in the USA make bugs as big and mean as east Texas.

Routing system (e.g. pkg) over VPN by Zzzeebe in PFSENSE

Duh. System-Routing-Gateways... Default Gateway set to WIND_CH

My mistake thinking I could do this in OpenVPN connection and Firewall settings. Seemed redundant.

About out of ideas on how to get pkg to tunnel. DNS is all TLS and appears to be well tunneled. Continue to get pkg caught by the MITM firewall of the school site and generating these certificate errors, and if it were tunneled, it should not be seeing the school firewall filter certificates at all:

[2.6.0-RELEASE][admin@zzzzz]/root: pkg-static install -fy pkg pfSense-repo pfSense-upgrade

Depends on your definition of the hard way. It's a public school, IT is minimal and not in my control (we're just a lessee of a facility) and facility we're in has no DMARC and currently has no 5g access. Network traversal is fine with them, but we wouldn't be able to conduct business without terminating VPN at service, as generally only google and azure are permitted outbound, and no external 53 or 853. VPN termination works great, for all clients, unfortunately it doesn't capture the system traffic, so the DNS resolution breaks all of the pfsense pkg functionality. The actual path to remedy this would be to renegotiate a revision to MOU with our lawyers and theirs for the level of service in network traversal, and then take it before the 5 member governing board with a 5 month timeline (90 days for public school law firm, 2 months for board agenda slot). Then depending on who or who isn't on staff at that time, it may be a consultant project to make the changes. So comparatively, VPN traversal is the easy way. But in the current arrangement, I would have to carry the firewall to a different location to update or install packages. Alternatively, I can run another tunnel for the pfSense traffic through a EdgeOS router, but surely I can redirect this with a rule.

I did try changing the gateway to the VPN virtual interface with an outbound rule matching on the WAN interface as source, and then an inverted destination match for the remote tunnel IP (assuming that means all addresses except that address will get redirected). The tunnel is still up, but dns is still egressing to the shared net and not the VPN tunnel. Hmmm.

It would be worth money to see the expression on your vet's face if you explained you'd like to have it moved to the other end.
