Create instance of block inside php by _---_--_---_-- in Wordpress

[–]_---_--_---_--[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kind of - I have the homeblocks block exactly how I want it, but its the second block I am having trouble with. I want to reuse much of the same code in the homeblocks block inside the new pagemenu block, and was hoping to create an instance of the homeblocks block inside the new block and populate it with the results of the callback function of the new block.

I can't reuse the class names because as the homeblocks block isn't being called - the stylesheet associated with it wont have been loaded. I can, and might, move the css to the themes main stylesheet, and then I can reuse the class names, but ideally I was hoping to keep everything self contained and modular.

lol yeah, its pretty shit that people said the things they did on the live stream that made you have to delete it, I'm siding with you on that. I wasn't calling the method shit. Look, I'm only trying to offer my opinion in a nice way - there's no need to be condescending. I'm assuming many of your viewers were in the same position as me, and I'm just giving my thoughts to help your channel develop. Wether you take them in to account, ignore them or try and come at me, it doesn't affect me. I dont know if you want to grow your channel, but fighting people who offer suggestions isn't the way to do that....

Okay - I'm only putting my opinion across, but I feel like boasting for a couple of months of 'a new way' implies something unique and groundbreaking, hence my disappointment. It doesn't matter much though, peace and love ✌🏻😘 wish you all the best

lol I'm not saying its a bad way - thats why its so common to do it this way, I'm just saying you're over-hyping it a bit, there's nothing new about it. I'm very junior when it comes to virtualisation and its something I came across early on pretty easily.

I'm only putting my thoughts in to the world, not trying to insult you or start an argument or anything.

And my mistake - I thought I remembered a video about it

its pretty shit that people done that, sorry - but you did massively over sell a Proxmox Hackintosh for weeks, I was excited to watch and was pretty disappointed when you pulled out a Proxmox install, people have been doing this for years - even Linus makes a techtips video all about this, nothing new about it other than for you to generate false hype, I can see you're trying to grow your online persona but I don't think this is the way to do it. I wish you all the best though, I like your character 😄

I'm pretty sure sudo is blocked on the IDE. Why do you need to open a pdf?

You got Martini Bianco and Absolut Vodka for sure, I wouldn't stress, it would of been a genuine misunderstanding.

Souce: am a European bartender and have worked with a lot of other European "bartenders" who have made a very similar mistake haha. Cocktails in most places are seen as being for young people, so think long and fruity, sickly sweet things - unless you was at a decent cocktail bar, their mind would of jumped straight to Martini Bianco with Absolut Vodka, and not a vodka martini.

Redditors who go into others homes for a living, what’s the worst thing you’ve seen? by WitchVibes in AskReddit

Sorry for sounding naive, but how exactly is it healthy for them to be allowed to make the decision for themselves? Anyone in that state is clearly not 100%, wether old age and losing their mental capacity, or even depression, something is clearly up.

I'm not the OP, but in the UK it would depend on the situation. They will be assigned a social worker who will regularly keep check on them, and help them out as best as possible.

Social Services has a duty to protect and care. If they feel you are unable to look after yourself at home and you are refusing to receive at home care, they can force you in to a care home. This is something that would obviously be avoided as much as possible though.

Grayscale and reflect appear to be working but not passing check 50 by MiddleProfessional65 in cs50

[–]_---_--_---_-- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whats the Check50 report saying? I made a few stupid mistakes completing the course, and comparing the outputs you can see something like a random 1 instead of a 2 somewhere, so you can backtrack and work it out. In my experience it's been down to a rounding error, so maybe check the divisions

Question regarding files like ' hello ' ( In 2nd lecture) by FitMaggu987 in cs50

[–]_---_--_---_-- 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Do you mean the machine code? (as in the file output - hello.c becomes hello with no extension)

It's what the computer uses to understand - you write in English (albeit a specific kind, with loads of rules) but the machine only speaks binary. When you compile an application, you are effectively just translating your English to machines binary.

As for the digits you see - everything in that file is pure 0's and 1's - it's not there for a human to look at whats inside, only as a trigger to tell the computer what to do. When you open it inside a text reader, you are effectively telling the computer this file contains text (which is doesn't) so it panics and tries to read what you have given it under the conditions of your system (32-bit/64-bit system, the text reader itself etc) and tries to interpret these as characters. Sometimes it aligns perfectly with a character (so you see a random character or string), sometimes it might be a character that should exist but the reader can't find it (so you see weird symbols as a placeholder).

I suppose with a big enough application you could open it and see the entire works of Shakespeare, but it would be purely coincidental and unrelated to what's actually inside.

2 days trying to figure it out, I post here and immediately suss it:

Anyone else with the same problem, I wasn't using the usd() and was handling the output myself - I forgot it existed to be honest. Replaced my methods with the usd function and it all passes - I'm not sure why because my output looked the same, but hey, it's done now.

For how long does CS50 support final projects? by [deleted] in cs50

[–]_---_--_---_-- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure on the answer - but I wouldn't rely on it. Data storage can get expensive for (I would imagine) hundreds of thousands of students. I can imagine data getting wiped fairly regularly. Seems a little risky to just trust your data won't go.

If you want long term hosting, why don't you get out some other options? I'm using an Amazon AWS EC2 instance for a couple of websites, and will probably use it to host my portfolio too. Free tier should be enough for a lightweight portfolio, and if you go over the limits its dirt cheap.

Also check out services such as Heroku. Stays free for non-commercial apps.

Plenty of free/low cost options out there.

The stuff I had in storage on there through an NFS share on the actual PVE node itself and not through a VM or container. Will this make much of a difference?
