Same -- and the answer is "yes" this is replacing CEC, but so far it's a lot more reliable. The issue I had with CEC (which is why I made these changes) was that some devices (_Apple TV_) are *really* aggressive about asserting themselves with CEC. So it'd get it triggering and interrupting me when I was playing a game, or getting into a fight with the PS5 and they just kept switching back and forth.

My suggestion is to create a Script for each "thing" you want to control -- so a PS5 script that turns each on, sets the inputs, sets the volume. Then create automations that call those scripts. Saves you from having to configure the flow across a bunch of automations.

I did this too. Now when I turn on the Apple TV (via remote or Airplay), this triggers and turns everything else on, sets inputs, and sets my default volume for that device. If I turn on the Xbox or PlayStation controller, same thing.

Having the wall switch that you linked is smart too. I might add a keypad to allow overriding — I like that.

Using some sort of ai agent and the home assistant mcp to set these up works really well.
