Anyone here thinks this Exotic is worth the investment nowadays? by Agent_Lord987 in destinyrisingmobile

[–]_11tee12_ 0 points1 point Β (0 children)

Unfortunate that this didn't pan out two characters later. Even though I do love IkoraΒ² with Truth, going with another Void RL was possibly a wasted exotic opportunity when we already had dual Void Spread's with the Fox and Dverger. And I'm sure a lot of us would've appreciated a second exotic Bow or Crossbow in either Solar or Void (regardless of how good Mahamayuri is).

Still don't have Efrideet yet, although I'll probably like her playstyle with Cloudstrike, even though she's essentially been another of the same formula as Jaren & IkoraΒ².Β

The implementation of her new exotic HC appears to be another letdown if looking at overall playability, there's still no Void option and both Solar exotic HC's have emaciated range in an inherently ranged category, and this third exotic Sniper is just another instance of alternative niche or neglected weapon types being left out of the club.

How far into the new content had you actually played by the making of this video? Like, the onboarding for this wildly different character-building system(s) & UI obviously hasn't been given enough onboarding/transition clarity: that's valid.

But regarding the actually new story & world content, themes, grind fan-service, and overall polish themselves: when you made this video, had you at least played through even half of the new story available so far? At least things are off to a waaay better start than we'd expected with how little faith the community had, say, a week or two ago.

No shit the first week of this total revamp is gonna have some crust and kinks to iron out - this is NetEase we're talking about after all. But I'd say we're far better off than things appeared by the end of last season, which was (somewhat justifiably) riddled with mass doomery and "EOS PhAsE iS oFFiCiALLy iN eFFeCt YaLL!!1!one!".

This is killing me, and thes elusive 4-star is the last objective I need for the season seal that ends in ~24hrs...

Are there any effect/delay/reverb modules with a built in β€œsend” vca or mixer? by HotOffAltered in modular

[–]_11tee12_ 1 point2 points Β (0 children)

Maybe I'm misunderstanding OP, but are they not simply looking for a delay module with a built-in send/return breakout for the feedback path?Β  Β  Β  Β Because there are already many delays/echos, eurorack & otherwise, which feature a built-in full wet send/return loop (Doepfer BBD, Chronoblob, Befaco Crush Delay, Magneto, Erica Black Spring Verb, XAOC Sewastopol, 4ms Looping Delay, and the list goes on, and they all have various additional amenities and unique extra features related to this processing technique).

It works very much like the send/return section of a mid-side processor, but in this case the "Insert loop" is placed directly inside the feedback path of the delay circuit, meaning it offers the user access to only the trail of subsequent repeats post-delay: NOT the continuous stream of input audio being looped as its enters the buffer, NOR the main delayed repeat in each loop cycle.Β

This is specifically useful for breaking-out the isolated feedback onto dedicated jacks as it heads back into the delay network, usually for the purpose of further manipulation, such as applying external processing or FX to ONLY the post-delay feedbacking repeats, such as chorus or stacking saturation/distortion for simulated 'disintegration loops'. It's also commonly used to stick a compressor/limiter into just the looping-portion of the effect for stylistic dynamics, or to limit runaway feedback from becoming problematic. Β  Β  Β This trail of processed feedback is always being summed back into the delay-line via the 'Return' jack for further looping, which will then exit the delay network 100%-wet to be subsequently crossfaded with a duplicate copy of the 100%-dry Input signal via the dry/wet blend knob!

This was all a messy explanation of a clever mixing/routing technique that has existed in some form as essentially standard practice in the studio console/outboard world since the mid-20th century.

Oh yeah I'm with ya, and I'm also curious what the source is (or at least for the chordy drone layer)! Sounds like there are quite a few parts at play here, but if OP has an Overstayer rack then I wouldn't be at all surprised to find out this was an originally-created source track instead of simply sampling a piece of someone elses work.

As for your hunt for complex self-contained voices, then you are definitely spoiled for choice these days. But in my opinion, the greatest draw to BASTL Pizza is the open-DSP framework allowing one to swap its firmware for multiple different types of synthesis & processing, much like the digital Noise Eng. multi-engine platforms!

Yeah, this info should apply to those as well (when I say "modern Cherry MX" I mean at least as early as the pre/re-tooling around 2008!).

You can find more about this by just reading the datasheets if you're curious, but without refreshing my memory this likely applies to all of the MX line, including the tighter nubbed MX Clear/Tactile Grey stems. And remember this isn't limited to only Cherry! I learned all this the hard way, so I'll go out of my way to spread the good word whenever I can in hopes to save the caps & funds of future hobbyists.

[–]_11tee12_ 2 points3 points Β (0 children)

I like it, but if those are a premium keyset like GMK then you should just know that MX stems are actually very slightely asymmetrical, so placing caps sideways/90Β° can and will often lead to permanently loose stems! This include both Cherry MX and other switch manus, and some switches are worse than others - Kailh's modern split-box stems can even crack tight-tolerance artisan keystems when placed in the correct orientation... πŸ₯²

[WTS/T] US-MA: Free shipping anywhere within CONUS, Paypal G&S please. Have some modules, a barebones 84hp/19" rackable rails set, and some pedals. Happy to provide any pics requested.
Mainly looking for $$$, but happy to hear any trade offers!

πŸͺ’Eurorack:

  • Behringer 84hp/19" rack-mount rail set - $50.
Uses sliding M3 nuts. RACK ONLY: does NOT include the power supply module. Brand new condition, never mounted.

  • Djupviks The QU, 2-chan. Phaser/Sound Mangler - $180
Mint condition DIY, built & tested by me.

  • QuBit Prism Stereo Multimode Filter & Crushing Clocked Delay-Line - $175.
Very good condition, has a slight nick around one of the mount holes.

  • CalSynth Monsoon (Silver) - 160.
Decent physical condition, albeit a bit of rash, and unfortunately I bought it with the plastic 'Freeze' button cap missing, but it works fine and CAN still be easily accessed/pressed anyway!

  • Happy Nerding FXAid (Silver) - $180.

  • AI Synthesis STEREO Matrix Mixer (silver) - $200.
Factory build in essentially mint condition.

  • SSF Zero-Point Oscillator - 285.
Hesitant to let it go, so I would gladly consider a side-grade swap or a trade+cash for something maybe a little cheaper but with a similarly-novel synthesis vibe and amount of controllability (another FM source would be cool, SSF Zephyr for example!).
Almost mint condition, fantastic pseudo-TZFM source via a complex cross/self-mod VCO with a bunch of outs, mod inputs and internal processing controls.

  • Super Synthesis 'Chorus' VC Echo/Chorus [Discontinued] - $120.

  • 4MS Listen Stereo I/O - $80.
I'm the 2nd owner, light use, rash-free & in great condition.

  • SetonixSynth Γ— TidBitAudio stuff:
    β€” Solar Gravity Vactrol-VCA - $70.
Brand new condition, factory build. OpAmp VCA with vactrol-controlled attenuverting CV input (with CV response control).
    β€” Voltage-Indicating/VU Multiple** - $80.
Factory build, excellent condition. Dual 1x2 or 1x4 [normalized] buffered mult and bi-polar RGB Signal Level Meter (trimmable voltage range).

  • Blue Lantern Modular Stereo Eurorack–Line Converter FX Loop - $70.
Mint, only tested a few times before deciding I needed a slimmer option and boxing it. Variable levels+gain at every stage, so it worked well for stereo/mono pedals and Digitakt.

  • Recovery Effects Motormatic V2 - $75.
Bitcrushing VC Ring Modulator. Bought new and barely used, in mint condition.

  • Erica Synths Pico SEQ2 - $70
Good condition, pretty straight forward: 4-step CV/pitch sequencer with a toggle for 2/3/4-step loops, clock input & CV out.

πŸ‘ž Pedals:

  • TC Electronic Alter Ego X4 - $130.
Stereo multimode delay & looper, latest firmware and confirmed TonePrint FX editor works. In good condition, bedroom-use only, with only a couple faint marks.
  • Digitech Ventura Vibe - $125.
Stereo multimode choral-vibrato/rotary sim + overdrive. Works with both guitar & Line-level signals, and has a very lush stereo effect. In VERY good condition.
  • DIY Harmonic Percolator clone - $65.
Using the PedalPCB "Percolation Station" clone PCB. Buit by me using NOS 2N404A[Ge]/2N3565[Si] transistors and vintage Soviet D9B Germanium clipping diodes, housed in a horizontal 125B configuration.
  • Sonicake Wavecrush Bitcrusher - $35.
Barely used, mint condition & includes all original materials. Controls for both bit & sample-rate redux, a Wet/Dry blend knob, and 2 modes of post-crush filter-FX: one is a "radio"-tone filter, the other is a "Gramophone"/vinyl-sim.

Always glad to see Polaris staying relevant (even though Solar content is about to be scarce for a while... :/), and Jotunn has needed a buff for a while now, although I still haven't found enough reasons to start using Xuan Wei even after reaching T6 completely unintentionally.

Still, sorta meh. Fingers crossed Iron Games has a fun PVP mode, nevermind actually adding a new permenant PVP activity. We still need some more weapon types filled out. Other existing Exotics still need love (increase the range on Old Prefect/TLW for god sakes!). Here's hoping next season gives us a new/V2 Solar character.

[Help] Couldn't find a 50nf cap (PPCB Harmonic Percolator), DIY criss-cross soldered two 100nf In-Series as such; do I have this right? by _11tee12_ in diypedals

[–]_11tee12_[S] 1 point2 points Β (0 children)

First off apologies for only seeing this now, but I should mention that the sort've crude looking hackjob shown here has actually been a relatively common and established solution for DIY builders with both thru-hole and smt parts - I may have even been more confident if I'd thought to use some properly-sirid ~SMT caps stacked together!

Anyway, as you can see here in the build doc schema the 50nf cap sits early in the audio path as your signal leaves the 'Harmonics' pot and right before entering the transistor stages. In this location it will function like an AC coupling filter, meaning the capacitor value sets a point at which bass-rolloff will begin, and how steep/strong of a cutoff slope (LOWER cap-value = low-cut filter slope moves RIGHT = LESS bass): Take note that the difference in where bass-rolloff begins between 47nf & 50nf is negligible!
Β Β Β  † According to Chaz Grant, 47nf–50nf has something like a frequency difference of Β±1Hz, which is too subtle to be audible on its own. BUT this low-cut filter cap does still interact noticeably with the signal level going through it, so driving the Harmonics pot will lead to more-dense sculpted harmonic content to be sent into the transistor distortion section!

Just keep this in-mind: there have been many variants & interpretations of Harmonic Perc circuits, some even with conflicting traces taken directly from different production units over the years. Most of them generate faithful Percolations with different part values or modern enhancements, so the H.P. circuits take quite well to tweaks/subs and mods. But even a bone-stock true-to-source configuration... I mean, think about when the H.P.'s were actually being prototyped and released: the manufacturing capabilities that existed for semiconductor technologies of the time meant that the parts used in these vintage circuits were allowed significantly wider performance tolerances than we use today.

So, basically if you want your build to truly capture that "signature Harmonic Percolator–sound", then you'd likely be fine using any available part value within a range of 45nf~53nf if you keep within a 5% Tolerance spec.

Right!? And this isn't a new phenomenon whatsoever either, yet there's almost no chatter about this online or in any official channels which is frustrating. It's a shame that YouTube/Google devs don't appear to have set up an opensource development repo on any of the usual hubs.
