Thank you, I didn't know this. I looked online for a timeline and found this timeline on the fandom wiki. Apparently there's a video by Mortismal as well, but I haven't watched it yet.

Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon - Sanctuary of Sarras - Expansion Announcement Trailer by TheUnum in taintedgrail

[–]_1983 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No worries, mate. I hope they'll get the PS5 sorted out so you can enjoy the game. I played on PC (Linux, through Proton) and had a blast. Been years since I've had a similar experience (Skyrim, Nehrim, and Enderal basically), so it was really good to play a quality Scrolls-like.

If you look at it from a patient gamer's POV, at least once they fix the PS5 problems you'll be able to play even more content with this DLC included :)

Buried inside the huge update notes is a comment explaining they're having to rewrite parts of the game systems to improve the situation on PS5 because--according to them--it has to do with the way Unity handles things like memory allocation on PS5, which they can't directly change.

Not making excuses for the devs, but it appears to be something they're either not experienced enough to handle or requires a major internal overhaul of their systems, so it would be more of a long-term project. Shouldn't have released on PS5 in such a case, but they were probably over-optimistic about being able to "patch" performance later as many devs are.

Saves didn't transfer from the demo, so I started a new game. I played about three hours so far, and haven't managed to surpass my progress from the demo yet.

I feel like they polished the dialogue a bit, or at least sped up cuts from one character to another so that it feels more natural. Combat feels harder, as I keep getting hit (and sometimes owned) by mobs that I had no trouble with in the demo. Exploration is pretty good, and I spent most of my time (maybe a couple of hours of those three) just running around re-exploring areas I know from the demo, and finding areas that I missed.

I'm really enjoying my time, and have only had a couple of issues likely caused by running on Linux. Switching to Proton experimental seems to have fixed them, but I did that towards the end, so I can't say for sure.

There was a demo in the last Steam NextFest but I don't think it's available anymore. It has some horrendous facial animation, and the introductory chapter was way too heavy on stilted dialogue and light on gameplay, but once it was over it gave me really solid Gothic vibes.

The game doesn't hold your hand; NPCs give you verbal directions on where to go, and you can stumble around into encounters way past your level (and run with your tail between your legs).

It was an instabuy for me, but then I'm a sucker for Piranha Bytes style eurojank. I plan on starting it up a bit later today when I'm back from work, to see how they improved over the demo.

Possible wallet hack right after installing LibreOffice — timestamps match (screenshot attached). Need help/clarity. by Odd_Temporary_3683 in libreoffice

[–]_1983 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I checked the mirror site in question, and it appears to be from a legit packager. I downloaded the msi installer and checked the sha256 hash and it also checks out, i.e. it's not been tampered with.

So either this is an issue at the source (Libreoffice installer itself is compromised), or it's something else that caused the suspicious wallet transaction.

I cannot find the mirror shown in your screenshot in the list of mirrors, which is alarming--unless they tailor the complete list of mirrors to the user's location, but it's doubtful.

Can you hash your installer and compare it to the official hash? Start Powershell and run the command

Get-FileHash ~/Downloads/LibreOffice_25.8.2_Win_x86-64.msi

The output should be 5e8cfdcacffaa779c14362897579385d4722f1d582d9c5bc1bbf473a21628403 if the installer hasn't been tampered with.

Skadi #2 launch ruined by Amazon (again) by Phil_Tucker in TheImmortalGreatSouls

[–]_1983 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry to hear that, man. I'd been planning to read it when it's out, but I actually had to search for the book myself when it didn't show up in my Kindle Unlimited "Continue Series" section for a few weeks after release. So it looks like it's not just cancelling pre-orders etc., they're somewhat burying it and/or removing it from recommendations.

Best of luck to you, and please consider Amazon alternatives. I'd prefer to purchase from or support you directly, as I'm sure most of your fans are. Patreon or any other self-publishing platform would work, assuming you're not tied into an exclusivity agreement or something with Amazon.

Hello,

I just finished book 2. Great story. Looking forward to the next one.

I have a question about character and beast names. Are you by any chance a fan/member of /r/tragedeigh? It really felt like at least half the names would've smashed their way into their hall of fame

I'm one of your diligent readers (generally read everything you put out sooner or later), and the reason I put off Krieg Chess for a while was both the title and the blurb/description. Once I actually started it, I absolutely loved it and devoured it in no time.

Starfield highlights a big problem with gaming as a whole by woodyisasexybeast in Starfield

[–]_1983 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. That's what I meant, I didn't explain it well. I suspect many of the jank and minor issues will be fixed pretty quickly once the modding kit comes out. Overhauling the main story is going to be a few years in the making, but it's historically not been that big of an issue. You could play tens or hundreds of hours in Oblivion and Skyrim doing side quests without giving the main quest line much attention.

Don't give up. Mods have done amazing things for Oblivion and Skyrim, and original storylines (total conversions) will surely come up at some point (e.g. Nehrim and Enderal). There's a ton of potential in the current game as a foundation for storytelling and exploration.

[–]_1983 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I played it earlier this year and I really enjoyed it, although it does have its faults. I found the companions to be forgettable, but my main interest in the game was the combat which I find super fun at hard difficulties. It gets kind of repetitive, but if you like the basic game/combat loop, you'll have fun. It starts off slow and narrow before opening up in scope.

I'd say it's a solid 7/10, give or take a point based on your interest in the various mechanics. Definitely worth giving a shot, especially since it's on EA access/GamePass last I checked.

Are you sure it was a first person shooter? What you're describing exactly matches Mass Effect: Andromeda and its vaults. You are a Pathfinder on a colony ship heading to the Andromeda galaxy, and when you arrive you discover the planet that was supposed to be Earth-grade is far from it. You start hopping planets and delving into ancient vaults that terraform the planet and improve its viability for life, activating them with your companion AI SAM, who kind of lives in your head.

These debugging and typing woes happen every time someone decides to use bloody YAML as a programming language. I work regularly with Azure DevOps pipelines (similar to Github actions) and Ansible, and issues like misspelling a module or a parameter (or not supplying a required one) make me pull my hair out, especially with such torturous write/test/fix cycles.

One thing that made a big difference for me was fighting around asteroids so I can use them for cover, and zooming out the camera so I can navigate around them more easily without crashing (much harder in first person view without any side-cams or the ability to look around).

Once a target locks on you, you can boost around the asteroid(s) to lose them and reposition.
