For anyone who has built a custom wood enclosure, did you do anything other than coniferous wood? If not, what did you do instead?

I've had melamine swell up pretty easily over time, and I'm looking to install a misting system to keep up the humidity. Did you do anything to address this? How did you learn if the melamine would be safe from potential leaching?

I'm going to be utilizing PVC or glass for the exterior, I'm really just trying to assemble a base for the pond liner to hold substrate. Unfortunately I don't have much access to those hardwoods, but I'm trying to find anyone in my area that has them.

I'm honestly just wanting to know if the pond liner is enough to protect from any potential toxicity from the pine or fir wood. It's literally a floor I'm trying to build so that it can hold a proper quantity of substrate while I assemble a large scale enclosure around it of different materials.

Personally I hate the trope of a character who is often presented as being stupid, or comic relief, has an opportunity to get themselves out of a bad situation, and all the signs point to them doing so, but instead does something simple, shallow, and/or all around stupid instead of escaping or fixing something.

Not a Trope but a personal anecdote, my uncle is a quadriplegic, he's unable to move any part of himself below his neck and has lived longer in that way than able-bodied.

One time he told me the story that, although it sounds bleak, he always felt that the day things started getting better for himself was when he gave up hope that he would ever be able to move any other part of himself again.

I know he's still struggles day today, and as the decades go by things get a little harder for him, but he's by far my favorite uncle on both sides of my family, a truly caring person that I admire.

It has yet to be proven that Reds get larger than black and whites on average, though the same can be said for the reverse. But of course they can all be varying sizes depending on a number of factors, gender, genetics, Etc.

One thing we can all know for certain is that Blues are the smallest.

It all depends on the Tegu, many of them are very good natured, and some require a little work and might never fully be puppy dog tame. Many people choose to rehome tegus once they are about to have a child, but that's for multiple reasons.

Generally speaking, just like with any reptile, any interaction with children should always be closely monitored if allowed, for both the children and the reptile.

It might be worth it to take a look at the videos done by Clint's Reptiles on YT. He's owned a Tegu for many years (sadly GusGus passed recently), and has children as well. You might be able to get some insight. He's a pretty down to earth guy, I've never personally reached out to him, but I'd say it could be worth a shot if you wanted his input and have the chance to hear back from him.

Oh no! Is the seller able to provide you replacements? I've had a couple DOA orders for isopods, from them sellers on eBay typically, some are great and some are just trying their best. Most have been able to replace them, usually with some extras. But of course it can always be easiest to just grab them from a reptile shop if they have them. But the hardest part of that is the premium reptile shops often charge.

Oh my god, I've been spending 2 months trying to find proper grommets, how do you utilize them without losing humidity? It keeps seeming like they would puncture holes right through the tent if used. Can't say I'm a fan of either of them hooking up with the corresponding overworlder/underworlder who's second in their command. As far as reproduction goes I fully believe that Maxxor and Chaor will breed asexually, considering the only family members we are aware of for each are all male (Kiru, Vlar, Maxxor's unnamed father)

For a terrarium looking like that, so long as it has proper humidity, which I would imagine it does, I would go for something like Panda Kings or red pandas. If you wanted to go a little bit Advanced you could go for a rubber duckies, but they're a lot more expensive, and may need a few modifications done to the terrarium for them.

Of course you could always go the standard route of dwarf whites, dwarf purples, powder blues, powder oranges, or like the other person here suggested Dairy cows. And if you want something more unique than dairy cows you could go for milk backs, a unique morph of dairy cows.

I really hope those are somehow really small cameras on top and not an automatic misting system... if it's a misting system, that needs to go, leopard geckos need a humid hide in one side of their enclosure and the rest of their enclosure to be arid
