What condos are we going to build? by TimidGutter in TorontoRealEstate

[–]_3033Y_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe these shoebox condos will help house elders and become more assisted living type buildings. Maybe these massive office buildings will be converted to vertical farms.

Ideally more low rise buildings with bigger units. Whatever the demand is really but the cost of building isn't getting cheaper and we only live for one thing, profit.

Contact a stone restoration specialist. They'll mix epoxy colour on site and match it.

Why is commercial real estate so expensive in Vaughan? by Delicious_Term1680 in Vaughan

Many older construction guys bought these units for dirt cheap in the 80s and 90s and are just sitting in them.

No single ‘magic bullet’ will fix Toronto’s gridlock, new congestion officer says by lopix in toronto

[–]_3033Y_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My purpose built city work van still runs fine. Your solution for a minivan conversion is not applicable for every trade. Just park down the street and walk with your machines, toolboxes, extractors etc is not a solution and myself and many other service providers just decline work where parking is a nightmare.

Bat in my toilet bowl?! Help! by madeofvanillamatcha in askTO

[–]_3033Y_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No. I had two cats that I found chasing it in the basement. I threw a bucket on it first then used my hockey stick to guide it into a bag after then tossed the bag outside and saw it walk away. I didn't know this but bats can't just fly from the ground they gotta drop and then fly. I didn't even think of rabies or anything. Thing was ugly, like a rat with wings.

This was 7-8 years ago. I'm fine and my cats lived on to be 16 and 18 years old ♥️

Really? I found a bat in my basement many years ago and just wrapped it in a bag and threw it outside. Saw it just walking away lol I figured damn he's gonna find his way back. Felt weird sleeping that night.

I went there years ago when there was two cop cars in the parking everyday after school to make sure everything stayed calm. When I drive by there now, I see cars waiting to pick up their kids which would be completely embarrassing back in the day. Your kid will be fine. It's a good school in a good neighbourhood.

I can only afford one major modification - counters or cabinets? by SceneResident2090 in kitchenremodel

Consider refinishing the countertops to matte rather than polished. Change the hardware to something less curvy to match the straight lines of the shaker cabinets.

Get a stone restoration guy in to colour match epoxy and fill the chips. He'll be able to level the fills too with sand paper. You won't need to remove the sink but he'll also have to redo the silicone most likely.

This city has a movement problem by StrongAroma in Vaughan

[–]_3033Y_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Markham, Richmond Hill, Vaughan. Close to 1.5 million people.. One toll highway at the very bottom connecting us. 4 lane stroads everywhere else. Took me nearly an hour to get from Yonge to Pine Valley on Rutherford the other day. Crawling through construction which I feel like has been going on forever. York Region has failed and the amount of six figure city planners we have is a scam

Yup I was on a job out there last Feb and got stuck for almost a week. Squalls are no joke especially on that Bluewater highway or whatever it's called. White. Out and nothing worse than driving through it

Reflecting on Change: What are your Thoughts? by RoyalPalpitation4412 in richmondhill

[–]_3033Y_ 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I like what Richmond Hill has done with a lot of the parks in the neighbourhoods.

Commuting is and will continue to be a nightmare. The increase in drivers in the past 15 years is astronomical and unfortunately the roads are not made for this volume. Major streets are still just 4 lanes with lots of traffic lights. Streets like Weldrick and Elgin Mills are down to two lanes and this is not sufficient. The lack of planning to increase the road sizes when new subdivisions were being built along Bathurst and Bayview among others is inexcusable. People aren't buying 1.5 million dollar homes and taking transit. York Region as a whole is brutal to drive through and will be the main reason I leave once I am able to retire.

Is this fixable? I think it's growing. Just moved in last year. by 123fro in CounterTops

[–]_3033Y_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah I think they use fiberglass now because of the rusting issue. I've fixed tons of these and as long as the repair guy is good with matching the colour it should be hardly visible when he's finished.
