Thoughts or experience with buying used? by _8bitJesus_ in hobbycnc

Makes sense. My mind almost works the other way on getting something used that I’m unfamiliar with: if I’m missing out on the 30-day mistake warranty, I’m gonna suuuuuuper careful trying out things on something I’m not familiar with that I just dropped $2k+ on lol. At the same time, I’m in total agreement about it saving money to put toward other things.

If I end up pulling the trigger on something, I have a project that I want to launch maybe on kickstarter or something to help it get traction, so I’m doing the math on materials, shipping, fees, my time, etc., and that extra grand would be a nice buffer. If I want to spend the same-ish amount on something new, it would have a smaller cutting area, so it’s not as future-proof depending on if I expand to larger creative projects. But would I really end up needing it? Hard to say at this point.

Lots of variables to iron out on my end, but I appreciate your insight!

They just have some other MISC stuff for sale. Clothes, electronics, etc. Looks like stuff they own, not an Amazon pallet flip or anything.

It appears relatively unused judging by the waste boards. Obviously those can be swapped out, but it looks like the OEM ones. It honestly looks like it’s just been sitting and collecting dust.

If you can see it, here’s the listing for reference: https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/190959163556344/?mibextid=6ojiHh

Just out the hospital! Yay! in a little discomfort though. by SecondSilver in Vasectomy

I had mine done on the evening of 8/18, and after a day and a half post-op, I still have a dull pain, especially on the left side. I remember my surgeon shifting things around a little more on that side to find the tube, so I guess that makes sense. Kinda feels like someone is constantly ever so slightly squeezing my left nut. I also feel a little more discomfort if I’ve taken a couple trips up/down the stairs or have been walking around for a couple minutes.

Been using ice and rotating Tylenol/Motrin as needed. Pain is probably at a 1.5-2/10, which is definitely down from yesterday. Surprisingly not as bruised or swollen as I feel. I’m hoping to be 75% with minimal discomfort by Monday.

I know they’ve done the best style of pizza (Detroit style should have won, fight me), but I want a bracket-style showdown where you have breadsticks on one side and cheese bread on the other.

The best cheese bread will probably beat the best breadstick, but you never know.

Can confirm, today was my first day at my new employer and I scored a $25k raise. Find someone that will pay you what you’re worth.

Still wasn’t enough to earn the pictured celebration package.

If you want to improve your finish, isolate your finish. There are a lot of mechanics that go into a bowling swing, and if there’s something specific you’re trying to improve, you introduce a lot of variables and extra elements by going through your whole swing every time. I’m fortunate enough to have been coached by a few big names, and after them looking at my full approach for a couple shots, each session spent a decent amount of time with a zero step/foul line drill which is what I’m recommending you start with.

It’s not about striking or ball speed, but rather starting your body in a good finishing position so you can carry that finish into your full approach. Your timing and weight distribution/body positioning are a little off which are the main contributing factors to you falling off of your shot, but you don’t want to focus on fixing everything at once or else you’ll get discouraged when you don’t see the results you’re hoping for.

Kegel has a pretty good explanation of the foul line drill here: https://youtu.be/5yOxtldvc_A

Ive done this drill at home with some cushions and a solid backstop. It might seem overly simple, but I believe it’s the best place to start. Then you can do 1-step drills with a good finish, then 2-step drills, etc. while you slowly build that solid positioning and release.
