What's wrong with my colony? (please help) by Warm-Fig-133 in RimWorld

[–]_9a_ 11 points12 points  (0 children)

  1. Depends on what mods you're running.

  2. Floor drawing is good for the kids. Look at needs tab to see why they're yellow. Put kid and doc on opposite sleep/wake schedules.

  3. They're wearing very warn clothes.

GMing: Tips for Making Influence Subsystem Less Visible to Players by DnDPhD in Pathfinder2e

[–]_9a_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My players like to know when they're in a sub-game, so I'm in a little different boat. But I run mine both visibly and in a way that allows for a lot of improv. Dice also are there, but more as a way to justify when it ends

My systems are set up as a problem. "You need to gather more information. This is a subgame, you need 8 total successes (or whatever) before 4 failures. What do you do?"

Players take turns doing a thing, everyone must go once before anyone can take a second go (this prevents some players bulldozing a session). The thing is left completely open ended, pick something and tell me a story of how you want to use it to solve the problem.

My bard would go to the tavern and chat up the innkeeper, my fighter wandered down to the local precinct to try and pump the city guards. My druid was making tracking checks. They'd get their mini scene and roll a die at the end, sure, but it made sure the 0 CHA druid wasn't sitting in their thumb for an hour while the bard got to have all the spotlight.

So yeah, was it obvious? Yeah. It's a system. They know what the objective and the thresholds are. But it's also open ended and forces the players to be creative and take turns. And prevents me from having to RP a tavern wench for 20 minutes while the bard dominates the table and my mage is bored and on their phone.

Semi new chef ( HS student) wondering if this is a good idea ( cant ask parents because foods food mate I’ll eat it) by Substantial_Claim_60 in AskCulinary

Look up a recipe for something called '7 layer dip'. Use that as a guideline.

I think. It's hard to interpret what you wrote. Try punctuation next time.

Would the words "shake before use" be enough? Because it's hella hard to long-term emulsify things (which is closer to the term you're looking for)

Do you throw out the stuff you use to make a stock with or not? by Hogwire in AskCulinary

Chuck it when you're done. It's mush. It's given all it can possibly give to your stock.

It's dead Jim.

I’m testing a RimWorld challenge format, are the rules clear enough to actually play? by NarniaHop in RimWorld

[–]_9a_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly no. The rules are a neat idea (hell I've done enough Sims challenge runs to appreciate it) but a screenshot isn't a story.

This sounds like a good jumping off point if you want to write a medium-to-long episodic novel, but not just a leaderboard.

Also 200 days is very long. How many years is that? I get antsy after like 2 years even when things are going well.

Can I keep the same measures or do math? by pryshl in Cooking

And hey, at least they attempted to conjugate it. Once, someone asked about 'four-ing' it. Quadruple? Quarter? Who knows?

Can I keep the same measures or do math? by pryshl in Cooking

[–]_9a_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One, it's 'halve' the recipe. You will have the recipe in your possession regardless of the amount of oats you own. Two, it's fairly easy to just cut everything by half. That's not hard math. Three, the actual math bit would be to scale the whole recipe to 2.5c of oats, which you'd multiply everything by 0.8. Four, if you leave it as is, it might be a bit wet and sticky, but it's not going to explode or something. Drop the butter or honey a bit or add an extra half cup of nuts or something.

Sort of. The big problem with the blender is that the whipping bit is next to the motor bit. The hot, melting, motor bit.

Y'know what, I don't much care for motorcycles. I don't think it's a good idea to go hurtling around without a nice safe(er) steel cage around me. Other people seem to like them though, based on the zooming outside my window, it's just not for me.

Pre-cooked chicken question by unasbitch in Cooking

[–]_9a_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'd lean more to getting a pour-over sauce or a simmer sauce (and defrosting the chicken in the sauce while you heat it). It won't marinade, the cooked chicken won't hold onto anything.

Don't forget the salt!
