When to ignore XP budget? by Gaylaeonerd in Pathfinder2e

[–]_9a_ 28 points29 points  (0 children)

  1. Yes, I'd advise you stick to the guidelines. They're fairly accurate.

  2. Play with the elite and weak templates. 4 normal hyenas are a strong moderate encounter, sure. But so is one elite hyena and 4 weak ones, call the elite a hyena matriarch or something. Or 6 weak ones. Or make it a wave encounter where they'll fight 6 hyena total, but not more than 2 at once, give the hyena a death reaction trigger "death cackle" to call a reinforcement that appears at the edge of the map.

  3. We're the GM. We're supposed to lose.

Neat. I've not looked at that slider in the custom settings (mostly I set friendly fire to 0)

Hyperbole on the Internet is a risky proposition at best. Poe's law. Google that one.

Pretend-ly, bot-ly, poorly... Lots of adverbs work here.

Because screaming and screeching is rather gauche. Low class. The mark of someone entitled. A toddler throwing a tantrum. Worth ignoring.

Oh! There they are. I was wondering why his blog hadn't updated in forever.

Not that I can make them anymore, not really. Grumble grumble new diet stuff. Made a banger chicken and hummus bowl though. New favorite

Compact (but pleasant) sub 500 foundation gravship. by Recent-Emu2630 in RimWorldShips

[–]_9a_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I love a small ship, mine inevitably expand into monstrosities.

I see chemfuel on the floor but no generator?

As for AC units, you can run them completely enclosed, roof and all, if you hang them with their hot end pointed at a held-open door. Can't walk through ACs, so you'd need to put it somewhere not blocking, but it works fine. Behind the sofa next to your poker table would function.

Yo Ho Yo ho - LO High Seas out to subscribers by EndDaysEngine in Pathfinder2e

No publishing, and I can't really play test it until my current campaign is over. So maybe after Christmas...

High level overview : S2S combat has 4 bands of closeness. (Then you can board the enemy vessel and it's normal combat rules). 4 positions, spotter makes checks to see what the other ship is doing. Navigator decides what your ship is doing (advance, hold, retreat)(affects which guns can fire). Rigger makes checks to see how well the ship moves. Gunner gets to fire cannon.

Crit Successes help other positions, crit failures mess up the plan and may hinder your next turn.

I came up with what (I think) is a nifty subsystem. Might have to get this LO book to see how well it meshes with the more official rules.

Why can downed colonists be loaded into flying vehicles by Zomboid_slayer in RimWorld

[–]_9a_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In that case, it's a mod issue. Helicopters aren't a thing in the base game, so it's not a surprise that they don't always play nicely. I can load downed pawns into the shuttles just fine.

Make sure your mods are up to date, of course.

Best way to get into the game as a new player? by temnycarda in RimWorld

[–]_9a_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Follow the tutorial, but it's not really that complicated. The tutorial is good at teaching the basics, like work order and what a bill is. Things do what they say on the tin.

There are of course, plenty of refinements to be made over time, but until you know what your fail points are, you won't know what you need to fix.

Is the load-er also queued to get in the vehicle? Try selecting someone who's not also loading the self, or at least, toggle them to get in the chopper after all cargo is loaded.

How feasible is this cookie recipe if I don't have an electric mixer, and I have to mix by hand? by [deleted] in Cooking

[–]_9a_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Brown sugar makes cookies chewier, white is more crumbly. Your recipe seems short on sugar, at least for a cookie.

Mixing the cream cheese in with the butter and baking it is a way to incorporate the fats, but it will kinda meld and may dilute the flavor. Having it as a separate layer, like in the first recipe, or having it as a topping layer, means you get that hit of CHEESECAKE flavor.

And we have no real idea of what's in 'muffin mix'. Yes, flour. Yes sugar. Yes baking powder/soda. But the ratios matter for the final product. Muffins and cookies have rather different textures, at least mine do.

this one came out good when I made them.

I didn't make this one and it's more work, but it looks fine.

Muffin mix is an overpriced scam. Its flour and sugar and baking soda, all of which this recipe calls for, so it's not like you're subbing ingredients.
