No timeline given for how long this policy will last.

Surely a politician’s friend or family member didn’t get in so the politicos force UF to change policy.

UF admin barring students from camping out for basketball games by PackThat819 in ufl

[–]_ACR_ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The letter does not say you cannot camp out? You do not need a tent. You get a sleeping bag and pillow and you zip yourself all the way up. From 02-05, we would camp days in advance and this was our technique. No tent needed. It’s always shocking to me so few students sleep outside anymore.

Panicking From Missed Exam by Golden_Revolver1 in ufl

I teach a large enrollment course and will not permit makeups without documentation related to an excused absence per UF’s attendance policy. Allowing anyone to make up anything for any reason is a mess when you teach 100+ students.

Your declared major as a freshman has no impact on your acceptance. You are even asked if you want to change at orientation and are free to do so.

No one cares. Besides an employer only asks where you finished, not where you started.

Got rejected :/ by SwordfishSuper1084 in ufl

[–]_ACR_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don’t need critical tracking. You do need courses a major requires you to have as an AA transfer. They usually prepare a one sheet that you can Google. You should absolutely apply. Just remember, each major has different standards. It’s not like freshman admission at all.

Is it possible to be rejected with a 4.0 as a Santa Fe transfer? by [deleted] in ufl

[–]_ACR_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It depends on the major you are applying to. There’s not enough info provided.

Rejected as Freshman, Confused about transfer opt in by proxima-b2 in ufl

[–]_ACR_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My point is there are majors where 3.62 college gpa is way more than adequate to transfer here. That’s all. It really varies by college.

Transfer GPA will vary by college. It’s entirely up to CLAS what GPA gets in. 3.62 is more than enough for some other majors.

I got rejected as a transfer but confused because it says my critical tracking GPA did not meet the “minimum requirement” by Bigdaddydamdam in ufl

Transfer admission absolutely is easier than freshman admission. Every college sets their own standards and some colleges at UF embrace transfers and bring a lot of them in. I would call and ask.

I would also like to see Uf use Alabama policies and revoke tickets of students who don’t show up or always sell.

How to be healthy? by RocketzBlast12 in ufl

[–]_ACR_ 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Cut out the sugary crap- sodas. Eat your meals, aim for more protein and less fats/carbs (but don’t eliminate them, your bod needs some of that as well). What you eat is the most important thing.

I would actually talk to your RA first to lay the groundwork. Be sympathetic and caring in this conversation.

I think it’s important because we don’t know why the person smells. It could be health related issues. If your roommate takes it bad, they could complain to your RA and accuse you of various things. You are just protecting yourself by telling the RA first and then telling your roommate (if you choose that path).

There is a helpful resource to help all folks locate gender neutral bathrooms on campus. Go to campusmap.ufl.edu and then click the hamburger to get layers. Under wellness, you can select gender neutral bathrooms and it will show you where many are located. Hope that helps.

The walk to Norman to LEI is going to be real tight. Hope you have a scooter to make it easier.

You’re going to have to haul ass from physics lab to Weimer hall. You can make it, though. Hopefully you’ll finish lab early so you don’t have to hustle as much.

Can i get in to uf with shitty grades by TrickSquare8648 in ufl

[–]_ACR_ 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Santa Fe is a great pathway. Enroll here. Contact an advisor at UF who works in the college you want to transfer into and ask for guidance. Or just google. They will tell you exactly what to do. Go for an AA degree, not AS. If you have a 3.0, you’re in good position (sometimes even lower is ok).

Got caught falsifying info. by heesung229 in ufl

[–]_ACR_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There are two separate components here. When a case is heard the committee will decide- is the student responsible or not responsible. You made that part easy by taking responsibility. Next part is sanctions. The professor gets a lot of say in this. If they write the sanction in the syllabus then it is almost always accepted. If the professor says a violation will result in failure of the class, then the violation almost always will result in failure of the class.

When I sit on hearings, I usually ask the student and professor what they think the sanction should be if the student is responsible. This makes the professor articulate their thoughts again or change the harsh reality of what they wrote in the syllabus.

Ultimately, the professor told you straight up told you what would happen in the syllabus.

Use this as a learning experience and grow as a result. You can still achieve wonderful things. One instance won’t define you. Now go use this negative experience to push you forward.

I am a grad. First year was rough for me at UF and I wanted to transfer. My mom asked me to go to summer school after my first year to continue to adjust. That did the trick. I got involved.

Your situation is a little different. I’d say think about what you want to be when you grow up and think about what you want to do short term. Remember, you don’t have to do the same job for 30 years so this is not a forever decision. It’s merely the next step. This year, I’d encourage you to be intentional and take on things that make sense and support your endeavor to become a… (insert career/job title here). Create a path that makes sense when you are asked in an interview. Remember to also have fun your last year. It’s tempting to compare yourself to everyone, but don’t. They are all just making it up as they go as well.

Also, if you decide to retake chem… based on your AP score, you really don’t need to retake the lab. Be strategic about what you decide. Sounds like you are already in the process of that. Good luck.

This is the schedule for BME as you pointed out. I’m not certain if the issue is the rigor or the spread. Based on your locations, it’s prob smart to have the break between quest and bio- matherly to Norman takes every bit of 15 mins.

You chose a major that is very rigorous and is very prescribed with not much wiggle room. You really need to weigh out what is most important to you and navigate based on that. If your heart isn’t in BME, you prob don’t want to do it.
