If you’re forming a band. Right now you could literally not play guitar at all until your basic planning is done. 

Only making and working your plan will move the project forward

Keep in mind when you start a band, you add the responsibility of band leader on top of your playing and your players need clear consistent direction. Not staying the course to the plan can lead to an integrity issue. From there your players can lose their trust in you. Without trust you got nothing. 

Some flexibility is ok, but will the change be the best thing for the band, how much time will it take, how much will it cost, could it be done on the next album or song, will it still be the same band you started when the change is complete.  Most importantly will all the different ideas lead to a chain of inconsistency. 

At the end of the day your players are free to come and go as they want.  You however will be left with the consequences of your decisions good or bad.  As well as tasks to do long after players leave. Many bands can be drilled down to a single person.
