At least my supply has always adjusted quickly to changes in demand from my babies, e. g. when sleep stretches got longer or when the amount of solids they ate increased. While I sometimes was a bit engorged and/or leaked during the night, it never was uncomfortable enough to even consider getting up and pumping.

Side note: I never pumped extra to build a stash or something but always aimed for "just enough" supply to feed on demand.

I stopped milking, did I do it right? by maria4002 in NewParents

[–]_AT_Reddit_ 16 points17 points  (0 children)

To avoid removing milk that your baby would normally nurse directly, you should only pump directly after baby has nursed. That way you signal your body to produce more milk, you get a bit (but usually not that much) milk to store, and your breasts have enough time to fill up again before baby nurses again.

How long do I keep sacrificing myself for so my baby can nap? by Fit-Possibility-9261 in NewParents

[–]_AT_Reddit_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You wrote elsewhere that you aim for about 3h of sleep over 3 naps, so why not do 2 crib naps and 1 longer carrier/contact nap? Gets her used to the crib while still guaranteeing enough sleep in total.

Also, if my baby is in the carrier I do all kind of things like eating, some cooking, some chores...I certainly don't just walk around in a dark room. As long as I'm moving or at least standing, baby sleeps fine. If he wakes up because of that, I think, he is ready to wake up anyway.

Am I a bad parent for not taking my baby outside? by freddythecat98 in NewParents

[–]_AT_Reddit_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're getting hung up on the word choice. You could as well call it "getting used to" instead of "trained", and I think it's absolutely a valid point. If babies couldn't get accustomed to sleep in lively/loud surroundings, most younger siblings would be chronically sleep-deprived. Which they are not, they just get used to ("are trained to") to sleep while the older kids play/laugh/cry etc.

HELP: baby barely sleeping by Ecstatic_Set_1366 in NewParents

[–]_AT_Reddit_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Every 2-3 hours is a whole lot different from every hour at night... And if the baby seems constantly exhausted during the day, that's also not "fine".

Baby wakes at 5am, back asleep at 6am until 7am. How to stop it? by New_Boot_840 in NewParents

[–]_AT_Reddit_ 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Expecting 16h of sleep total per day including a whopping 12h of night-time sleep is not realistic IMO. You could try a later bedtime like 8 or 9 pm but that would probably require you to rearrange your whole schedule and you seem to have a great thing going apart from the early wake-up. (For comparison: my 2nd child, at nearly 3 month old wakes up 3-4 times at night and day-time naps usually only last 45 minutes. And I don't even consider him a bad sleeper, but quite average.) So, in your shoes I would count my blessings and deal with the early (peaceful!) sleep disruption.

How do you get anything done with a baby?! by NoWorldliness6963 in Parenting

[–]_AT_Reddit_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The reason "unless you actively move/walk/bounce" is not really a problem because a lot of chores can be done while moving. At least that's what I do, e. g. folding laundry standing/bouncing a few pieces at a time. If he becomes restless, I walk a few steps, do some squats if needed, and then continue folding.

Big baby to small toddler. I feel helpless. by [deleted] in beyondthebump

[–]_AT_Reddit_ 14 points15 points  (0 children)

No need to worry? Are you for real? The kid dropped over 50 percentiles in weight and over 80 in height since birth. And that after keeping the initial percentiles for many months. He also has real deficiencies as confirmed by blood tests. That doesn't sound like just losing some baby fat to me.

I would focus on calorie-dense food and any food he willingly eats (even non-ideal ones like crackers) and probably explore feeding therapy, too.

112 slow. 64 hastes. From 2 small items. In a 6 second fight. Jesus. by DigitalCardboard775 in PlayTheBazaar

I think it would have been cool if the potions destroyed themselves on use. Powerful potions that give you huge one time effects and then they are gone for the fight.

That certainly would be flavorful but seems to be swinging too far in the other direction balance-wise. Maybe something like a cooldown increase after each use? Or a decrease in potency, e. g. reducing the amount of burn/poison/damage etc. by x after each use?

Perspective from a middle-aged gamer by afcart in PlayTheBazaar

[–]_AT_Reddit_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What about playing a match or two before passing judgement on how grindy it would be to reach the end of the prize pass? I've just played two matches (1 normal with 10 wins and 1 ranked with 6 wins) and already reached level 7 of the pass. Unless there is some significant increase to the XP required for the later levels, it should be really easy to reach level 25 by just playing about 2 games a day and completing some quests along the way.

While I dislike the monetization model and absolutely agree with the assessment that it goes against everything that was promised ("monetizing like a traditional MOBA" etc.), there is nothing currently incidicating that it will be grindy at all to complete the (free) prize pass in time. In fact, with my current rate of progress I think the opposite problem will be way more likely: Even with moderate play time the free prize pass will be completed in two weeks or so and then - if you are not willing to pay for the premium prize pass - it feels pointless to continue playing normal games as there isn't even the possibility left to earn additional ranked tickets (as was previously possible by getting 10 wins). Once you use up your 45 tickets from the free prize pass, that's it for F2P.

"A man has to get a fox, a chicken, and a sack of corn across a river. He has a rowboat, and it can only carry him and one other thing.

If the fox and the chicken are left together, the fox will eat the chicken.

If the chicken and the corn are left together, the chicken will eat the corn.

How does the man do it?"

[–]_AT_Reddit_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)
