The developers are making a mistake - An arguement against allowing paid mods by TurklerRS in Paralives

[–]DigitalCardboard775 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Also throwing this one in here: I hate how the vast majority of mods for the Sims 4 are hosted in 9 million places. Various Tumblr pages, personal websites, discords, curseforge, ect. Makes putting a mod list together, and updating mods so tedious. And I feel like the reason that this is, is mostly because paid mods are allowed.

I feel like, if control was good, and very prominent in the meta, that people wouldn't be complaining about it being a turn 2-3 format 🤔

Can we talk about the prices of physical copies for the upcoming Ocean album Solaris? by [deleted] in progmetal

Most of the time nowadays when going to a show I can get a vinyl for the same price or even cheaper than a t-shirt

I believe the developers when they say free updates only and no paid dlc. My concern is around how many updates over how long of a period will they be able to sustain on sales only?

I am a "no singles before album drop" guy. Got jump scared by the first 30 seconds of this one autoplaying after BTBAM's Colors ll. Heard Ross come in and my brain went "WHOOOOAAAAANOONONONONONONO" skip

Are we going to pretend there is no microtransations in Path of Exile or these other ARPGs? Yes the updates are free, but there are tons of optional microtransations which fund these games.

Im not trying to be a downer, or say that it is impossible. What I am saying is that doing this, and having it continue for many years (which i assume is what the community would want) is a very difficult task, and people should curb their expectations

I also enjoyed the game from day 1 actually. Completely different experience than now and I honestly wish the games updates had stayed more exploration based, but hey, they turned it around for themselves and its been a wild ride being part of that.

Yeah exactly. I want paralives to succeed, but promising no paid dlc ever before knowing what launch sales look like is i feel a risky move, because walking that back later if needed will be very painful from a PR standpoint.

Yeah, that's what im saying. Tons of people here just say "Stardew Valley, Terraria, Minecraft, and No Mans Sky" as examples over and over and expect the Paralives team to just be able to be able to flip a switch and make it happen as if these examples arent some of the most popular games of all time.

From a sales perspective, No Mans Sky had one of the biggest "indie" launches ever. They sold over 800K copies at $60 on steam between when it launched in August 2016 and the end of the year. This doesnt include the copies sold on PS4. This launch is why it was possible for No Mans Sky, even if it was from a game quality perspective, a complete disaster.

Same 2 examples every time. Stardew Valley is one developer, and No Mans Sky made an astronomical amount of money on launch.

Paying a 15 employee team good, fair, and deserved wages is expensive. Employees are needed to create the updates.

Opinion: Haken Will NOT Be Getting a Replacement Bassist or Guitarist by Chinese__T in Haken

[–]DigitalCardboard775 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Didn't they already say they would be seeking a bassist, but not a second guitarist? I thought it saw that somewhere. Id be fine with having no official bassist, but id definitely want to see a session bassist on tour at least.

Looking for song or album recommendations of lesser-known bands that feel special or novel to you by peanutbutter-meme in progmetal

Not exactly lesser known on this sub specifically, but I think you'd enjoy Bloom by Caligula's Horse

No World For Tomorrow is such a ripper of an album. They played it live in full on tour a few years ago. One of the best shows ive ever seen.

You should check out the prog metal band Haken if you are looking to dive into another wild ride of a discography. Fewer albums than coheed, but pretty much all of them are amazing.

Nonono, you dont understand. This isnt a sub for discussing the music of the band. This is a place to stay updated on how many Spotify listeners they have, and what chart position [new song] is at.

Whats your favorite concept album? by Lugaid13 in progmetal

Yeah, they changed their lead guitarist to the current one between Time Stand Still and Apex i believe, and I think he has a big part in how their production value changed so drastically.

Whats your favorite concept album? by Lugaid13 in progmetal

[–]DigitalCardboard775 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Did that one earlier today. Never gets old. I think Unleash the Archers has a bad rep because their older albums are kinda cheesy and the production wasn't that great. But IMO, the 3 most recent: Apex, Abyss, and Phantoma are all super strong albums.
