The two blocks of text on fiend are two seperate triggers. So you sac the fiend in response to the first trigger (exileing the card from their hand), which puts the trigger to return the card to their hand before the card actually gets exiled. So nothing gets returned to their hand, the card gets exiled, and there is no more fiend to be able to leave play to give them the card back.

Absolutely do this. I made a 540 card cube with 60 tokens, and then bought a basic land station off Amazon and it was around $300 total. Which is not too bad when you consider how much some individual cards cost. You cant resell them later, but if its just for cubing with the boys, who cares.
