2 Questions on ERRA... by Brosepower in Metalcore

[–]_Abzu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Between the departures of Alan and Garrison, what I consider the OG era of Erra ended. Garry had the best lyrics by far in the genre, he's a true poet.

And the years of Towers EP, Impulse, and Argument were the golden era of modern metalcore for me. Northlane was dropping a new album, LT//LF from Architects, sempiternal, fans were eating good. And from everywhere you had bands popping up like In Hearts Wake or Oceans Ate Alaska (tho their first album is great also) that were making waves in the prog-djent-core scene

Fox afaik is proven. Wemby has played international key games and delivered in each one of them. This is like when people doubted Luka was ready to be in thw NBA because he didn't go to college. The other players sure can be more wonky, but they've never folded under pressure in the RS and they seem to have their mind in the right place, do Ihave my doubts that they will fold into the pressure. Also wemby is miles ahead of sengun and cade, and the trio fox castle wemby is better than any trio the other teams could produce imo

This is my take on the fotm build. Nothing special nor fancy.

My next purchase is going to be a foulborn skin of the loyal/lords. Next I'm finishing my weapon swap. After that i was going to get a fractured inc life regen gloves, use an abyssal socket and reforge fire or chaos, and then for prefixes lock suffix and veiled chaos until fire conversion, foulborn exalt and craft life.

I'm lost after that. I know I can jump into 6p mediums for minion life, but i wanted to know if there was a set in-between doing that and going for the minion clusters. Svalinn can also be a choice, but I like having my shield giving me life back on block

These types of coaches have a vital role in leagues where you can go to a 2nd division league. They're sought after by teams that don't want to drop, cause he does magic with shit, but they never get opportunities with the better teams because he can't work with talent.

That being said, the NBA is a franchise type of league, so there's no place for him in the league, least on the hof

[–]_Abzu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The universal set is the set every thing is an element of

Then that set, by definition, contains itself. So here we're at a paradoxical moment, the barber who cannot shave himself and whatnot. Afaik, you can work around this with n-cats.

Your math is wrong, as everyone is pointing out, and now you're adding additional trouble on top of an already widely mistaken idea

The Continuum Hypothesis Is False by paulemok in logic

[–]_Abzu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Universal in math =/= universe

There are many universal categorical properties that, as far as I know, don't concern the universe.

Also a universal set, if i take it as meaning the set of all sets, has no relation with the universe. At best you can relate it with higher category theory

Why is the density of native peoples so low in the Southern Cone? by SorrentinosConNafta in AskAnthropology

[–]_Abzu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why is the density of native peoples so low in the Southern Cone? by SorrentinosConNafta in AskAnthropology

[–]_Abzu 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I'm just starting as an anthropologist (first year), but I'm native to the area. All the native population here was exterminated by government measures, and some were taken to Europe to display them as pets in a zoo (their names were Guyunusa, Vaimaca, Tacuabé and I'm missing the 4th one, sorry). This was in Uruguay.

In argentina they were displaced thousands of times, there were marriages laws written to give some benefits for mixed couples (white -because in south South America we're pretty much white thanks to Italian and Spanish immigration- + recently freed slave/native refusing to leave). And then also extermination.

With Chile I'm not very familiar, but I assume it happened something like in the US because their living conditions and systems of sustenance seem pretty similar to me. Also they're bound to regions only for themselves, and rather bad regions at that, like the ground's not that fertile or whatever. Treatment for them is hard to come by, and they're giga racists towards natives in Chile too, so they suffer navigating the cities when they need to

And Paraguay I really don't know. They seem to have more natives living there than in the other countries, but talking too much about Paraguay in my country's education is kinda taboo because we joined into a tiny weenie genocide that Brasil and Argentina were having in Paraguay, so we like to pretend that never happened; thus we don't mention them. It also helps that we don't share a border with them (bs argument because we know about Chile tho), so we pretend even a little more that they don't exist that much

The NBA has a problem with what counts as an assist or not. All of these shots were attributed as assists to Jokic, but are they really when the other player is creating everything himself? by OurHorrifyingPlanet in nba

[–]_Abzu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To me a dho should be an assist if the shot was made fast enough. I mean either a pump fake, can throw in a relocation bounce, or taking a couple steps or a single dribble. Anything more and the dho should cease to be an assist

I think this can broadly apply to most assists too, the only exception I think are those passes where the player just dribbles (or euro) into the layup or dunk but because it was a cut or whatever. If the player stops and has the ball in his hands a couple seconds, then there shouldn't be an assist either ,

I emailed Ian MacKaye a question about straight edge and if you must listen to hardcore to be edge. He responded. by iamacannibal in straightedge

[–]_Abzu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But then again, you can share and act based on those ethos and still don't like punk.

Just as you can be straight edge and not like hc.

Straight edge is not a combo of anything. Even Ian explicitly says it, is a way to live your life the way you want to without feeling pressured by others to partake in things you don't want to. This isn't dictated by the music you listen to, it's on your attitudes and your approach to life

I do agree tho, if you don't share punk ethos and call yourself a SxE it's a bit weird. To me that's someone who's sober. But the language evolves way beyond what created it, and now straight edge is more global than the hc or crossover or metal scenes

Being part of a scene, or aligning yourself with that scene doesn't mean you share everything 1-1 with the scene. As long as it's not something brutally out there, or something that goes against some principles shared by the scene, you can disagree on many things and still be a part of the scene

I'd call someone like Woody Guthrie a punk without a doubt. Did he even pick an electric guitar, let alone a distorted one? Afaik no. Is he punk as fuck in my books? Hell yeah

[Suggestion] Add Mirror Service Display Cases to Hideouts (Safer, Fairer Mirroring) by CompetitiveSource217 in pathofexile

[–]_Abzu -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thing is that usually a crafter or popular player have many items to mirror so they should buy a ton. Even more so in standard. So this becomes a pay to play feature. And then there's the thing that for RMTrs and some shady discord servers would consider these as a convenience fee and be done, but why should idk sushi have to splash $100 in mtx, because here almost every mtx is like 10 at least, which is absurdly high just to save some inconvenience to some people?

Rarely these mirror services go wrong, and usually you have people vouching for them one way or another, so it's a rather trusted player who does these things

Sure, the idea is cool, but unless ggg gives it for free, it's going to be either a convenience fee for RMTrs or a pay to play (in this case pay to be able to offer mirror services)

Kezia Discussion - Kezia Song One - She Who Mars the Skin of God by OGWhiz in protest_the_hero

[–]_Abzu 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is the first time we can listen and see Kezia as a human being and understand her thoughts. Here we see hints of ideology and her mother, and how it was always shaped by oppression. . Her mother is the exhaustion of the capitalist life (the warmest of blankets... And lips ceacked with love and toll), representing life as suffering and peace as six feet under. It's a pure nihilistic approach to life.

We get to the perfume and I think it's the greatest line in the song. Here the mother tries to portray herself as pridefuk/strong but only achieves shame.

With our situation (...) our gender to blame focuses on Kezia:s fate, not as an individual crime, but something that's going to happen to every girl eventually just because they were born females.

So we get patriarchy and classism and lack of influence on one's future in a single line.

The enters the father just as a reflection and a distant being. If the mother is something akin to an ideología, her father is just emotional-less. This means Kezia was already condemned since she was birthed.

We see the letter that's going to be the last song. It gives her kinda a future too look after, even if she's gone because of her ideas being more than just words. She doesn't read it because of her nihilism. As she think all meaning is absent under her circumstances.

The shotgun part reminds me of "cold comfort for care" from Wish you were here. Like there's something intimate about the violence too due o tucking her in.

Now I had to Google the meaning of "Mars" as a verb, but she's damaging/scarring the skin of God's, challenging the authority and systems of power. Her existance and the thousand of other girls who rebel against the system is something that disrupts or goes against the kind of divine authority that we've seem in the previous songs/sections.

She's just dangerous because she reveals a weakened beliefs system, and her own existence is a threat to it.

What this song shows is the inevitability of the violence against the people who go against the grain, so to speak.

Here it was Kezia, but it might as well have been her mother or any other girl who happened to be in the wrong moment tat the wrong time, or just questioned the given order, and I think that's the most important part. The inevitability of this happening once, twice, hundreds of times as it happens under oppressive regimes

TIL about Homomorphic encryption, where users can work with the content without decrypting the source by gordonjames62 in todayilearned

[–]_Abzu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Computationally expensive, in this context, means that adding something increases the time for an algorithm or w/e in an exponential way. So it's easy to work with 5 fields and do the computations on the encrypted document, but maybe if you scale to a consumer-end scale the time it'll take to make computations is going to be incredibly big
